I just got done upadting all the software for the mac mini and then I plugged in my ipad so it could get the update 5.1 or whatever it is. However I tunes is saying it will erase all the apps/music/pictures etc that are on there. There isnt anything yet on the mac mini as its still on my backup hard drive. How can I update my ipad without losing everything and having to reload it onto the ipad?Â

Getting errors when trying to update to 5.1 on iPhone 4s and iPad 1. Iv tried to update through the device and on iTunes and its not working. Both devices are NOT jailbroken. iTunes saying network connection can not be established. And trying through iPad's software update on the device says " Unable to check for update. i don't know what i did in Terminal a few weeks ago and now i'm having problems. I firts noticed this when trying to update my ipad and iphone to ios5.1 itunes kept showing the message "connecting to the iphone software actualisation server" but it stayed this way for hours. I think i touched something in Terminal i didn't had to.Can anyone tell me how to reput iTunes in to its default settings using Terminal?

I recently had a computer crash and lost everything in my hard drive. The weirdest thing is that when I tried to back up with time machine, it erased my external hard drive instead...so now I have no back up. I just received a new macbook pro, and would like to now sync all the information to my mac, but how can I do that as my purchases, etc. are linked to a macbook that is not longer working (meaning, I cannot retrieve any ID from there)?Â

I tried to download the update from the App Store but it comes to a dead halt without downloading. There is an empty progress bar on the game's icon and it stays empty, no matter how often I try to download the update. I have the latest OS on my iPad and it is far from full. I have never had this happen before and have a fair number of games and apps already.

Years ago, when I first had the iPhone and iTunes on my Mac, Safari bookmarks would always update from bookmarks on my Mac and reflect accordingly on the iPhone. I also see that bookmarks do not update on my iPad now either. How do I get back the behavior from the 'good old days' to make safari bookmarks update when I sync my iPad and iPhone through iTunes on the Mac? I need to reinstall itunes but do not want to lose my playlists. I keep my music on an external hard drive that is connect to my Airport router via USB. I can drag my music from the folder on the hard drive back into itunes but I dont want to have to go hunting for my songs again to fill my playlists. I have 50,000 songs and one playlist has 20,000 songs and the other has 4,600 and a few randon ones with 1,000 or so songs. What are my options? i am running the newest itunes with lion 10.7.3.

All songs podcasts etc show the little exclamation mark next to them ... and "cannot be found" except manually.I have - verified and repaired the Passport - all ok Reset and redirected the itunes library in preferences.i am now on the painful step of deleting all tunes .. keeping files and readding them to the library which takes about 2 hours.
i want to convert all my music form MPEG to AAC -- but WITHOUT LOSING my playlists -- the order of the songs etc.
I have chucked all my old cds, so i can't "replace original" which is a trick I read about.
The way it's been so far, i can't just go into my library and highlight all the music wiht MPEG and just alt click and convert em to AAC.
unfortunatley i have over 100 playlists, so losing that would be time consuming.
it seems whenever i do convert songs, i then have to delete the old MPEGs and thereby lose the song order in any playlists with the original mpeg.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have imported a number of Caf del Mar CD's to iTunes, and iTunes keeps scattering the tunes into several different folders in iTunes Media. It also has trouble finding album information, unless it has been downloaded from iTunes Store. Previous versions of iTunes I have tried didn't have this problem.I've tried to tidy the files manually in iTunes Media, but that usually results in duplicates, so I stopped messing with it. I actually wouldn't mind iTunes blowing up my albums into a nightmare file structure of hyper categorization in iTunes Media (Album, Album Artist, Artist, etc.) if only it recognised its own mess when I transfer the library from one iTunes library into another.
An example: I downloaded Cafe del Mar - Essential Elements featuring 13 tunes, two of these can be found in the files Cafe del Mar/Cafe del Mar Essential Elements, iTunes also created the folder Cafe del Mar/Cafe del_Mar Essential Elements containing 0 tunes!?! and the rest of the tunes are found under Rue de Soleil in the root folder, indicating ONE of the artists as the criteria for creating a folder of tunes!?!
I am trying with every fiber NOT to hate this program, and would appreciate it if someone could explain to me how I can move an iTunes Media library of aprox 54 gb from my desktop via an external harddisk onto my laptop. I have tried 4 times, and everytime the result varies. Sometime I transfer 3000 files, other times 4000. Which files follow and don't is random. I lose files tranferring to the external harddisk and lose even more files from the external disk to the new library on my Lap. Do I have to transfer song for song or can this genius program actually transfer a larger amount of files without losing half the files and duplicating the rest?
Is there a limit of size or amount of files?

iTunes won't change more than one file's information at once (e.g. changing the componist at 10 Songs), even if i mark them together and iTunes tells me if i want to change them at all. It doesn't change a thing at all. If i change them one after all it works. I have about 25.000 Songs which i want to edit.
