Everytime I open ITunes, it says "determining gapless information" which kills performance and randomly stalls ITunes. Is there anyway to disable it from determining gapless information?
View 3 RepliesI open iTunes and first thing it does (every time!) is "Determining Gapless Playback Information" for a small (400 tracks, approx) subset of my 4,000 tunes library. I've checked and re-checked my tunes. I have NO tracks set to "Part of a gapless album".this process repeats itself sometimes when I'm importing new tunes, even after the app has been launched for awhile. iTunes starts scanning the same 400 (approx) files AGAIN, as I add new music. It takes 30-60 seconds to run through this process. Annoying!Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has just started happening recently. I believe it may have something to do with Fluke; however I have totally uninstalled iTunes twice and it keeps happening. This seems to happen when iTunes is "Determining Gapless Playback Information".

just moved my whole iTunes library (21560 songs) to my 2TB Time Capsule... And well everything went great, until I updated to iTunes 10, it updated the iTunes library on open, fine, took two minutes on the ageing MBA, but now, it is Determining gapless playback for my entire library... And it's been going for about 6 hours and it's on 856/21560, so my question is... Is there anyway to stop iTunes doing this?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have several multi-CD opera albums loaded into iTunes for Mac. I've merged them (same album name, marked as part of a compilation, though I've kept the individual CD #s and track #s) so that each opera shows as one album in iTunes. I've also set gapless playback. This works fine for tracks within each of the opera's discs (i.e. no gap between track 2, 3, 4 etc.)
I'm still hearing gaps when iTunes moves from one CD to the next (i.e. between the last track on CD 1 and the first track on CD 2). The gap is about 5 seconds and seems to occur whichever opera/ set of CDs I playback. Is there a way to eliminate this? I don't think this gap is native to the CDs themselves as it occurs across tracks that are part of the same act/scene. I'm using the latest version of iTunes and this refers to playback on my Mac.
My iTunes is currently giving me a message "Determining Song Volume, Analyzing XX of YY". What does this mean and how often can I expect it to do so. Unfortunately, I'm working off an external drive on a USB 1.1 port because its all I've got. At this rate, it'll take all night to finish analyzing and I want to use the damn program (which I can't while its doing this).

In ITunes it shows that music, videos and pictures are synced but none are found in my phone. I have rebooted the computer and phone a few times but it didn't work.

For some Internet radio streams, iTunes 9 on my old PowerBook shows artist and song title in the small window at the top; iTunes 10.6.2 does not show this information for the exact same stream. How can I get the information to show?

iTunes won't change more than one file's information at once (e.g. changing the componist at 10 Songs), even if i mark them together and iTunes tells me if i want to change them at all. It doesn't change a thing at all. If i change them one after all it works. I have about 25.000 Songs which i want to edit.

I can't seem to find a way to edit mp3 and wave information in leopard. In fact it seems like the fields are totally unresponsive to anything. I want to edit this information and the album art outside of iTunes, because while it's very easy to do within the application, it doesn't seem to effect the source file's information.

I'm on my 14th email to iTunes support and after 14 days of not being able to log into my iTunes account, I'm getting a bit desperate. Every time I log in, I'm redirected to the login screen that asks for my account name and password. I've reset my password 4x and Apple has done it twice. Still no change. I'm not getting any response that my password is wrong and I'm allowed to fill in my credentials as many times as I want. It's just redirecting me to the login screen and asking me again. If I log out and back in, it tells me after login that I need to press "ok" to verify my account information, after which it redirects me to... the login screen.Â

I just got done upadting all the software for the mac mini and then I plugged in my ipad so it could get the update 5.1 or whatever it is. However I tunes is saying it will erase all the apps/music/pictures etc that are on there. There isnt anything yet on the mac mini as its still on my backup hard drive. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a relatively new "Mac convert" -- approx 3 months. I have a MacBook Pro 13", 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB Internal HD, two 500GB external drives and I am running OS X 10.6.2. Bootcamp is ver 3.0.1.
I am preparing to install Windows 7 so I can utilize a few of my old Windows program. The Windows programs will, most probably, be limited to Micorsoft Office Outlook, ActiveSync, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premier Elements. What would be a recommended, or optimal, Windows partition size to accommodate the mentioned programs and still give me some "spare" space if I decide to add a couple of more Windows programs to the list.
So I just installed two drives in my PowerMac G4 MDD. Using cable select to install them, I have the boot drive installed on the middle of the ribbon between the Mobo. and the end. The slave drive is on the end of the ribbon. Now when I open Disk Utility the slave drive is first on the list on the left followed by the boot drive. I thought it should be the other way around. Also, when I option click on each drive and click on information the boot drive is tagged with disk1xxx and the slave has the drive as disk0xxx. That doesn't sound right. Does it? ALSO strangely when I FIRST set the drives up and opened Disk Utility the BOOT was first in the list and the SLAVE was underneath, but after a restart they went the other way around. Can tell me what's going on? or anything to worry about? I will be doing frequent backups on the boot drive so I don't want any issues later.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled OSX (leopard) completely fresh, I have multiple Time Machine backups, and I do not want to restore my entire machine, I just want to pull out the files needed for iTunes to detect my iPhone(backups, and settings so the machine knows it can be connected to this machine) as being connected to the correct machine and not sync'd to another machine. I know how to browse the time machine backups I just need to know what files contain the preferences/logs/plist or whatever settings files that are needed to be replaced on my newly installed system.

I had an iTunes account before I got my MacBook Pro and they have different IDs. The first account has all my purchased music and I would like to use it with my new computer. When I try to download music of the previous account from the Cloud, I get the message that the iTunes account information differs from the computer. I have my iTunes library on my 1TB external, and recently I have noticed that when I do stuff like changing the genre on songs that it takes a while to process. Anyone else having this problem? I have contacted WD and they said to try a new USB cable and then if that didn't work, to reformat it. So right now I am in the process of moving the 700gb to my imac so that i can try to reformat.
