ITunes :: Update IPad Without Losing Information?
Mar 21, 2012I just got done upadting all the software for the mac mini and then I plugged in my ipad so it could get the update 5.1 or whatever it is. However I tunes is saying it will erase all the apps/music/pictures etc that are on there. There isnt anything yet on the mac mini as its still on my backup hard drive. How can I update my ipad without losing everything and having to reload it onto the ipad?Â

Mar 8, 2012Getting errors when trying to update to 5.1 on iPhone 4s and iPad 1. Iv tried to update through the device and on iTunes and its not working. Both devices are NOT jailbroken. iTunes saying network connection can not be established. And trying through iPad's software update on the device says " Unable to check for update. An error occurred while checking for a software update."Â And I clearly have internet connection.

Mar 11, 2012i don't know what i did in Terminal a few weeks ago and now i'm having problems. I firts noticed this when trying to update my ipad and iphone to ios5.1 itunes kept showing the message "connecting to the iphone software actualisation server" but it stayed this way for hours. I think i touched something in Terminal i didn't had to.Can anyone tell me how to reput iTunes in to its default settings using Terminal?

Mar 27, 2012I have the Australin app called Ninenewsbreak and the app works well on my iphone4 BUT the sound won't work on my iPad.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times and still no sound. This app is for the iPhone and iPad according to the advert in the app store. The sound works great on the iPad for other apps downloaded.Â

Feb 7, 2012I downloaded The Bard's Tale successfully and before I tried playing it an update was announced. I tried to download the update from the App Store but it comes to a dead halt without downloading. There is an empty progress bar on the game's icon and it stays empty, no matter how often I try to download the update. I have the latest OS on my iPad and it is far from full. I have never had this happen before and have a fair number of games and apps already.

Jun 8, 2012Years ago, when I first had the iPhone and iTunes on my Mac, Safari bookmarks would always update from bookmarks on my Mac and reflect accordingly on the iPhone. I also see that bookmarks do not update on my iPad now either. How do I get back the behavior from the 'good old days' to make safari bookmarks update when I sync my iPad and iPhone through iTunes on the Mac? There must be some settings that have been changed, but I have not been able to search them out in settings.Â

Dec 9, 2009My music and video library, totaling about 1.5 TB, is stored on an external USB hard drive. When I want to listen to something, I copy it over to my MacBook Pro (15" late 2009, 500GB hard drive) using iTunes. My home stereo is connected to an AirPort Express for audio streaming.
I can't really afford a TimeCapsule or an AirPort Extreme Base Station, either of which would seem to offer the most elegant way to remotely access my media library over WiFi (true?). Yesterday I found a Belkin Wireless N+ router at Costco for $69 that includes a USB storage port, and am wondering if it would do the same job for a quarter of the cost. Here are my questions:
1) Could I access my media drive wirelessly from my MBP using the Belkin N+ router? Is there another (better?) solution that I am missing?
2) Can I use iTunes to manage my library on the external hard drive, while also maintaining a smaller collection of audio files locally on the MBP's hard drive?
I'm not the only one in this situation! It seems Drobos and other RAID or NAS solutions are quite costly ... more so than an Airport Extreme.

Mar 13, 2012I've been syncing my devices for years, but after I updated to iTunes 10.6 then attempted to sync my iPhone 4, iTunes aborts and does not complete the sync. I tried my iPad as well with exactly the same results. So, I expect that something has begun corrupted in iTunes and I tried to revert to the previous version of iTunes with Time machine, but the Mac reported that I cannot remove iTunes.It could be a library that is corrupt or a cache of some sort, but I can't tell.Â

May 7, 2012If I create a smart playlist in itunes and deselect live updating then how exactly does the smart playlist load up?
The reason I ask is that started setting up Smart Playlists for all of the artists on my computer and they're all set to live update which is consequently slowing down my itunes. Feb 15, 2012I have an iPad that is synced to my home computer (iMac). I am currently in my second home and wish to move some files back and forth between my second iMac and iPad. I do NOT wish to sync them as this erases all the work I have done on files at my first home. The app I am mostly concerned with is called Songbook. My second iMac does not allow file sharing and I'm guessing because it needs to sync first. Not gonna happen. So am I out of luck or is there some way to move files back and forth? I really would like to do this as the edit function on the iMac is much better than using the Songbook app and keyboard.
