My hard drive got erased - is there anyway to transfer my calendar, photos, etc. from my iPhone / iPad back to my computer?

I recently had a computer crash and lost everything in my hard drive. The weirdest thing is that when I tried to back up with time machine, it erased my external hard drive instead...so now I have no back up. I just received a new macbook pro, and would like to now sync all the information to my mac, but how can I do that as my purchases, etc. are linked to a macbook that is not longer working (meaning, I cannot retrieve any ID from there)?

Re syncing calendar from Mac Mini to iPhone 5: If I enter an event on my Mac Mini Calendar it does not transfer to my iPhone. It works fine from my iPhone to my Mac Mini. I rented a movie in iTunes and using the movies tab of my iPad, I clicked "Move" to move the movie over to the iPad. WHen I sync the device, it goes through the motions and after finishing, it moves the movie back over the iTunes side of the display. Effectively, not transferring the rented movie.I tried this same thing on my iPhone and got the same result.I'm using the latest version of iTunes and the iOS 5.1 on both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4.

I just got done upadting all the software for the mac mini and then I plugged in my ipad so it could get the update 5.1 or whatever it is.
