I am planning to get another 24" white imac, I am collector and was wondering since it's off ebay but with apple care if I can renew it by buying more apple care? But I am concerned in that I read "Apple is not obligated to renew this Plan. If Apple does offer a renewal, it will determine the price and terms." Also the original owner has changed the hd, surely that does not void the warranty?

I've read some forums and everybody keeps saying, "Do a Cmd+I and select 'Locked' and that will prevent it from being deleted."
When I do a Cmd+I on the (mounted) Disk Image, there is no "Locked" option, only "Shared".
There is a "Locked" option on the .sparseimage when I do a Cmd+I on that...however, after I "Locked" it, I tried deleting it and the computer was perfectly happy to let me delete it...which kind of goes against the purpose of locking it in the first place.

But I don't like to upload all my data without encryption - and as no one really can promise me that my data is safe in his cloud I use Boxcryptor at the moment - so that I encrypt all data on my mac with my password before it's uploaded.
So what I like to know is if iCloud Drive will offer encryption on filesystem level like Boxcryptor.
If not - why isn't Apple innovative in that case - because Apple would be first with that feature !

People familiar with the latest betas of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard have been reporting over the past several weeks the addition of a 'Screen recording' option in the File menu of the new Quick Time X Player due to ship with the OS overhaul later this summer.
Similar in many ways to a feature long offered by Ambrosia Software through its Snapz Pro X utility, the option will allow users to capture in motion video their Mac's screen -- essentially video screenshots. Such a feature will be particularly useful for software developers and educators, as it will simplify the process of creating video tutorials, software demonstrations, and anything else best captured in live motion as opposed to still shots.
When selecting the screen recording option under recent pre-release distributions of Snow Leopard, a recording interface prompts the user to begin a video capture then disappears. A small footprint controller in the upper-right hand side of the Mac OS X menubar can be used to end the video capture. While its unclear if the feature is fully functional in build 10A335 released Thursday, it wasn't in earlier builds, often creating an empty .mov file, those familiar with the software say. View 12 Replies View RelatedI sent an email to Steve Jobs about my yellow tint 21.5 iMac issues (three exchanges, all affected, resulting in a refund). I got a call from Dena at Executive Care within 24 hours.
She said they are aware of the problem and do not know how widespread it is. According to Dena, the issue is not resolved and that ordering a new iMac will not result in a fixed display.
She said the engineers are working on it now and they are not sure if it's hardware (most likely) or software related. Further Apple stores cannot do repairs because they haven't determined what the issue is.
I've read some reviews of eSata external drives and it seems to be better than FW800. What are the odds Apple is gonna include an eSata port on its next-gen iMac?

View 21 Replies View RelatedAbout 5 months ago I had my Mid 2006 iMac replaced with an Early 2009 iMac and on the whole I am very pleased with it except for one thing ... the glossy display.As our youngest has now commandeered my office I am now resigned to using the dining room which is fine except the only area for all my equipment is the wall opposite the window. The reflection during the afternoon and early evening when the sun comes through is driving me crazy. We have had blinds fitted which now help but still cast a lot of reflections and glare on the screen making reading difficult. I didn?t have this problem with the old matte iMac.An option would be to use a matte screen as a second monitor or even better a 30" Apple Cinema Display thus I can move the iMac out of the way.

I will be buying a 2 year old apple Cinema display 30" tomorrow from a colleague and would like to know that my IMAC can easily handle supporting this display at its normal resolution and have a crisp and correct image on the larger screen. I know that this older version of the Alu Imac has the older video out display port, but I presume I can convert it to attach to this 2 year old screen as well. I own a 17" iMac Core 2 Duo. It has been crashing more and more lately. Now when I turn it on, it sits at the apple logo. The spinner does not appear. I tried new sticks of ram, and same thing. I can boot off a windows or Linux cd with the c key, but they freeze halfway through bootup. I ran a hard disk check also.
I shut the computer off like i normally do. It was fine and well. Went to turn it on, and saw a bar. Whats it for? Its been moving, but very slowly. It never does this. Is there malware or something causing it? I had a movie on the DVD slot, it that caused it. It wasn't spinning though.

Still doesn't see them and in Windows, the screen is on full bright and I don't see how to decrease it since the keyboard issue.

With the small keyboard bundled many stores will not allow the option of a larger keyboards. Some people have posted here however that some stores where swapping out keyboards for them, others even managed to get a free full size keyboard sent to them after calling apple and complaining.
I'm hoping people will post their keyboard experiences here along with the apple store they visited to help build up a reference list for others in this situation.
I'll start by saying the apple store in Liverpool ONE , will not, under any circumstances swap out keyboards.
Does anybody have any information on when Apple are going to launch a PROPERLY upgraded iMac? They've just announced a new version with some upgraded integrated graphics, more memory and storage, but when are we going to see an iMac with Quad-Core processing and Blue-Ray? Let's face it, this is what everyone is waiting/hoping for. I've been waiting to buy a new 24" iMac for over a year - I've even got the money waiting in the bank! However I'm not going to buy until they properly refresh the range. We've seen the laptop range refreshed and the Mac Pro range upgraded, but they just seem to be dithering about a bit with the iMac. Why? I actually looked at just going for a Mac Pro instead of waiting, but they are so much more expensive than an iMac I can't justify it. C'mon Apple - I love your product but am waiting for the REAL upgrade!
