View 3 RepliesI have a 24" imac that is about 9 months old and running on version: 10.5.7 OS X. I have my imac in one room in my house and the TV in the lounge. I have the use of my apple tv and the apple time machine which is all rigged up in the lounge next to the TV. I would like to have my imac connected to my TV so that I have on the TV my usual imac screen and can use the same as though i am at my imac. I would like it connected wirelessly. Is there a way that i can use the devices i currently have in place to do this, (apple tv, time machine), or do i need other equipment to do this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had a great macbook for about a year now and decided I want to attach it to my television. So I went to the store and bought this (special mac) cable that has a (I think) mini DVI connection in the computer that leads to a super video (SV) opening. Then I also bought a cable that starts with an SV (which goes into the mac cable) and ends in a scart which goes inside the TV. To the scart and SV cable there is also an audio cable attached which goes into the computer.
When I turn on the TV, I get the sound but nothing to see.. My computer doesn't detect an external display. I've tried everything: see if the cables are in well, put them in different in- and outputs, turn both the television as the computer on and off, mess with the computer's system preferences and the television's preferences.. And I've also looked on forums and I've just gone clueless!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently obtained a Mac mini to use with my Sony LCD projection television (model number KDF-E55A20). To connect the two, I used a standard DVI to HDMI conversion cable. The picture looks great. I have connected the standard audio output of the mini to the audio portion of the HDMI port (#6) on the television using a cable that changes from the audio-out to RCA (red and white) cables. (I'm sorry I don't know what the name of this sort of cable is, but I know it is very standard).
The problem: I get no sound! To troubleshoot I connected my Powerbook G4 to the same HDMI port (using the provided adapter to connect to the same DVI to HDMI cable). Once I plug in the same audio cable as I tried to use with my mini, I get both picture and sound. It seems that the television inactivates the audio input component of the HDMI port if it picks up what it thinks is an HDMI input (since it is supposed to carry audio). But it is only getting DVI! So the problem is not with the mini as it produces audio normally. There's a setting (hopefully not hard-wired) with the Sony to inactivate the audio-in on HDMI input.
Can someone recommend a good script writing application for movies or television?

I have a Macbook Aluminum and want to use my LCD TV as a monitor. I went to the Apple sotre yesterday and the guy said no problem just hook these up (I know it's video only not audio). So he gave me Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and the Belkin DVI to HDMI cable. Plugged it in set the TV to the HDMI an all I'm getting is my background on the TV. When I go to any other program like itunes, safari, anything nothing shows up.

First off, I am sure to be VERY computer challenged compared to most of you. I apologize for that in advance. Here is the problem. We have been a PC based family for years and years. We just started to go Mac. My son got an iMac and my wife an iTouch. We have a wireless internet network in the house. The wireless is set up w/ Lynksis (I don't know if that makes a difference for my question.) I have connected to this network with more than one computer and more than one laptop. I have never had a problem. My son's iMac (airport) picks up the network and seems to be connected but can't do any more. It cannot connect to the internet. My wife's iTouch is the same. Our PC based computer and laptop will connect though. My son's iMac DOES, however, occasionally connect to the internet using the neighbors VERY weak signal. My wife's iTouch will connect on other networks (i.e. Panera Bread's) so I kno that works as well.
