Sep 10, 2010I have a Disk Image that I've password protected, but have come to find out that even though somebody might not be able to get into it, they can still put it in the trash and delete it.
I've read some forums and everybody keeps saying, "Do a Cmd+I and select 'Locked' and that will prevent it from being deleted."
When I do a Cmd+I on the (mounted) Disk Image, there is no "Locked" option, only "Shared".
There is a "Locked" option on the .sparseimage when I do a Cmd+I on that...however, after I "Locked" it, I tried deleting it and the computer was perfectly happy to let me delete it...which kind of goes against the purpose of locking it in the first place.

ICloud On Mac :: Will Drive Offer Encryption On Filesystem Level
Jun 3, 2014I like the new iCloud Drive - and also its very neat priced.
But I don't like to upload all my data without encryption - and as no one really can promise me that my data is safe in his cloud I use Boxcryptor at the moment - so that I encrypt all data on my mac with my password before it's uploaded.
So what I like to know is if iCloud Drive will offer encryption on filesystem level like Boxcryptor.
If not - why isn't Apple innovative in that case - because Apple would be first with that feature !

Apr 24, 2009With the introduction of Snow Leopard, QuickTime Player will assume more of a utilitarian role, with screen recording features reportedly joining the software's exiting repertoire of basic audio and video capture capabilities. People familiar with the latest betas of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard have been reporting over the past several weeks the addition of a 'Screen recording' option in the File menu of the new Quick Time X Player due to ship with the OS overhaul later this summer.
Similar in many ways to a feature long offered by Ambrosia Software through its Snapz Pro X utility, the option will allow users to capture in motion video their Mac's screen -- essentially video screenshots. Such a feature will be particularly useful for software developers and educators, as it will simplify the process of creating video tutorials, software demonstrations, and anything else best captured in live motion as opposed to still shots.
When selecting the screen recording option under recent pre-release distributions of Snow Leopard, a recording interface prompts the user to begin a video capture then disappears. A small footprint controller in the upper-right hand side of the Mac OS X menubar can be used to end the video capture. While its unclear if the feature is fully functional in build 10A335 released Thursday, it wasn't in earlier builds, often creating an empty .mov file, those familiar with the software say. An artist's mockup of the minimal QuickTime X Player window interface with the "trim" tools overlay.
QuickTime X -- along with the minimal-interfaced QuickTime X Player (renditions) -- leverages media technology pioneered by Apple for the iPhone OS. When it makes its debut on the Mac with Snow Leopard, it'll offer optimize support for modern audio and video formats resulting in extremely efficient media playback, the company has said. I will be getting the 8GB iPod touch with it to sell off since I already have an iPod. I see that there is also an offer for a rebate if you buy a printer with the Macbook. Will this offer still qualify with the iPod offer? Which printer has the best resell value? And it says up to $100, so if I get one of the $100 printers will I get a $100 rebate? Aug 21, 2010So a while back I had final cut pro installed, and eventually deleted cause I no longer needed it. I used AppCleaner when removing to try and make sure I got it all.
Well every time I do a software update it wants to install "Pro Applications Update" and "Prokit Updates" Which are updates for final cut pro and its related apps.
Any idea how I can stop it from wanting me to install these updates for something I no longer have?

Aug 28, 2009I handle all the maintenance for three macs. My own mac Pro, my wife's Macbook Pro and my mother's iMac, all intel and purchased within the last year.
All are running OSX 10.5.8, except my mother's which is at 10.5.5. My mother lives in another state and she only has dialup.
Downloading a 60MB file takes all night when I'm there. Last update I did took me a week to download and I don't like tying my mother's phone up all night in case she needs to call an ambulance.
Is there a way I can download updates using software update and my cable modem to my Mac Pro and then burn them to DVD and install them on her machine?
