My Mum just gave me her old iPhone 4s. It doesn't have a 'software update' section under settings/general. I wanted to try to update it somehow using iTunes, but I need to update my IBook G4's iTunes first. But when I try my laptop just says it can't connect with the server. However, there's no problem with my internet connection.

so i have a macbook unibody late 2008 and i wanted to go on the itunes store and it said to update java. So i did the update that ocmes up on your mac and once it restarted it gave me an error that will not go away.
I am running bootcamp and windows works just fine. Also not sure if it makes a difference but i jailbroke my iphone right before i restarted and my iphone was connected so im not sure if that makes a difference when it boots up.
it would be very annoying to have to reformat.
Also if i do have to reformat can i leave windows intact?
Why was the malware fix update available to Universities before the general public?

i don't know what i did in Terminal a few weeks ago and now i'm having problems. I firts noticed this when trying to update my ipad and iphone to ios5.1 itunes kept showing the message "connecting to the iphone software actualisation server" but it stayed this way for hours. I think i touched something in Terminal i didn't had to.Can anyone tell me how to reput iTunes in to its default settings using Terminal?

What gives? I've had a few things that came in out of order (it looks like some files were re-released and with about 50 items, it makes it a chore to hunt down the correct file to view.

Is it possible to move an item from the "More" section of the Contextual Menu up to the main section? In the attached screen shot you can see an item "Snag Path Unix" at the very bottom. I have tried dragging and dropping so that they appear there, but to no avail. Have also changed the info so that it reads 'books' or 'audiobooks' but they will not appear in the Books section of my library which makes finding them tricky. I have previously downloaded titles and they have been recognised as Audiobooks and been properly categorized. (These recent titles have been downloaded from Audiogo. )

Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
Here's something I've wondered on and off for a while, just remembered it now so I'll ask.
The enduring issue I've had with all of Crudbooks (well, among many other issues - but they've usually been different for all models/refreshes of Crudbooks) is the screen brightness on AC and battery. It doesn't seem to intelligently switch in the way that for example Windows does. Or to put it more specifically, it doesn't seem to remember brightness settings for AC and battery modes that well.
It is of course the matter of a few seconds to adjust the brightness but I wonder if there's a way of doing it automatically. A potentially basic question, but something I've never bothered to find the answer to. Any takers?
My macbook doesnt save the headphones volume, I've already saw a thread talking about it but they only sugested erasing plist files and reseting pram, done both even re-installed os x and nothing.. When I plug the headphones the volume get's set to 50% and it gets really loud

When I try to add a Nokia Mail account in the mail app for Mac, Iphone or Ipad, the app does not know the SMTP and IMAP server settings for Nokia Mail. It prompts me to enter the IMAP and SMTP server settings manually, which is not fun. It will be nice if Nokia Mail server settings were easily discoverable by the Mail app. What is the process to update the Mail settings server so that any Nokia Mail user in the future when adding his/her account does NOT have to manually enter the server settings?

I have imported two different audiobooks into iTunes.I am using itunes 10.3.6 on a macbook pro, mountain lion osx.I do have itunes match, and I turned off match to import the audiobooks so that I could go in and change the "media type" to audiobook. However, now some of the tracks (not all) are grayed out and inaccessible on my iphone.When trying to play the audiobook it just skips the tracks that are gray and moves on to the next black track.I've tried re-syncing and it doesn't help.

Well, since then it seems like my home wifi settings don't get "remembered"; I have to enter the SSID and password every time I open my laptop. I also check the "remember" checkbox, and if I go to the wifi advanced settings IT IS there. But whenever I close my MacBook and open it again (regardless if it's 5 minutes or a whole day), I will have to input those settings again. Anybody with the same problem, or know of a fix?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm sorry to say that all was OK until.. I updated OS to 10.5.6 two days ago.. and my external 1T Seagate Freeagent Desktop for Mac stopped mounting on Firewire.
It will mount on USB, it will mount on FW when Mac is restarted, but will not when you boot up after your system was shut down.
I tried to reformat, repair the disk, repair permissions and nothing worked.
Somebody posted that you should disconnect your Firewire stuff before OS update? Is this correct?
Can anyone please suggest anything as I don't want to end up having this HD hooked with USB...
Alternatively how can I revert to the OS before the update? Is restoring from Time Machine the only solution?
