After updating to MAC OS X 10.7.4 I'm getting this annoying activatesettings error. I cannot change any settings at all, my top menu bar has lost clock, network icon etc. How can I fix this?

Once i installed the latest safari update and the computer restarted, my date settings were changed to December 31, 2000. Also, random programs popped up, asking if i should allow or deny them. As well, i was disconnected from the internet. I'm not quite sure what has caused this.

Well, since then it seems like my home wifi settings don't get "remembered"; I have to enter the SSID and password every time I open my laptop. I also check the "remember" checkbox, and if I go to the wifi advanced settings IT IS there. But whenever I close my MacBook and open it again (regardless if it's 5 minutes or a whole day), I will have to input those settings again. Anybody with the same problem, or know of a fix?

Somehow, recently a new error message has popped up that won't go away no matter how many times I click "OK." That means I can't modify my network settings.
Things I've tried:
1) Clear error logs with Onyx
2) Throw away com.apple.networkConfig.plist
3) Repaired permissions
4) fsck -fy
I have just purchased a Macbook pro and have just seen on the Apps icon on the screen that I have 2 updates available, one for garageband and the other for iphoto. I tried logging in using my apple ID username and password but I keep getting an error message stating:"You have updates available for other accounts. To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."I googled the apple ID error and it led me to the apple support side where I could find out if I had multiple apple ID's linked to the same email address.
It came back with 3 accounts linked to my email address.I have found the username's for all 3 accounts and changed the passwords to all the same and then tried to log in to Apps on the macbook but can't seem to do it. I was wondering if it's possible to delete Apple ID's so I only have one account. What I have noticed is that when using my iphone the old app's I have to log into my old Apple ID to download up-dates, whereas the newer apps on my phone I have to use my email address as the username.

I click on check for updates, it scans, find them... then gives the options of show details, not now, or continue, I hit continue, it starts to load them up, then at the end it says error and closes out.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to add a Nokia Mail account in the mail app for Mac, Iphone or Ipad, the app does not know the SMTP and IMAP server settings for Nokia Mail. It prompts me to enter the IMAP and SMTP server settings manually, which is not fun. It will be nice if Nokia Mail server settings were easily discoverable by the Mail app. What is the process to update the Mail settings server so that any Nokia Mail user in the future when adding his/her account does NOT have to manually enter the server settings?

Update 2012-002 on macbook pro. When rebooting,after 'successful' install, I now see a repeating cycle of Error = 19, unable to mount root. From my *nix perspective I fear the worst - that the boot sector (at a minimum) is hosed. I tried (running Lion 10.7.x) booting with the command key down - no joy. do not currently have my install disk (sadly, it's in storage, somewhere). I'm concerned about this. this is VERY unusual for an update. This is a relatively new drive (750GB drive installed about 8 months ago). At no point have I seen errors, and believe me, I look. Assuming the worst case is repartitioning? (ah for hte days of 'fdisk /mbr')

I recently had to reset the region on my DVD to watch a film I bought from Amazon. When I changed to region 1 I was warned I could only change the setting one more time after that. Later I attempted to change the setting back to Region 2 as all my other films are on this region. The warning came up again "this is the last time you can change this setting". That was fine because I had no intention of changing it back to region 1. But as I tried to change the setting it gave me an error message 'error: -70001' What does this mean? I still have one chance to change my settings back according to the system as agreed but it wont let me. What can I do? I havent used up all my chances and yet I now cant watch any of my DVD's.

I wish to restore my computer to factory settings but when I put in my Snow Leopard disc I continue to get an error message that reads "You can't use this version of the application Install Mac OS X with this version of Mac OS X. You have Install Mac OS X 23.1.1." I wish to restore my Mac to Snow Leopard and then redownload Lion from the App Store and start fresh with 10.7.4 on my restored Mac but I am finding it incredibly difficult.

My Mum just gave me her old iPhone 4s. It doesn't have a 'software update' section under settings/general. I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!

Once it tries to install, it tells me an error has occurred, although it doesn't go into too much detail. I tried repairing the disk permissions, then I tried clearing /Library/Updates/.
