ITunes :: Audiobooks Are Not Appearing In 'BOOKS' Section Of My Library

Recently downloaded audiobooks are not appearing in the 'BOOKS' category, but in the main music library. I have tried dragging and dropping so that they appear there, but to no avail. Have also changed the info so that it reads 'books' or 'audiobooks' but they will not appear in the Books section of my library which makes finding them tricky. I have previously downloaded titles and they have been recognised as Audiobooks and been properly categorized. (These recent titles have been downloaded from Audiogo. )

ITunes Mac :: Section For Books In Library
In my iTunes v10.0.1 (22) Library there is a section for Books. To the best of my knowledge I didn't create this so I presume that it is a default library created by those nice people from Apple. It was certainly there in earlier versions. So far, so good. But how does iTunes decide what is a book? Entries in there, again I presume dictated by the Cupertino Boffins, are items from the categories: Radio Play, Documentary, Speech, Spoken Word, Books & Spoken, and Language Courses. An album of songs from Ken Dodd, an English Comedian (one of the best ever) but who also sings and had the UK's third best selling single of the 1960s, beating all bar two songs from The Beatles! You don't believe it? Neither did I, but it's true: {URL]. But how and why has iTunes determined that that is a Book, and how can I banish it to its rightful place in my Libraries?

ITunes Mac :: Enable Separated Listings In Library For Audiobooks And Textbooks?
I have many, MANY audiobooks and .epub books. I hate to have all of them in one subcategory as "Books". Is there any tweak to have separated listings in iTune Library for textbooks — as "Books" and for audiobooks — as "Audiobooks"? How to enable "Audiobooks" in Library?

ITunes Mac :: Adding Audiobooks Using CD And Having Them Show Up As Audiobooks?
I have an old Dell laptop that I have been using iTunes on for a couple of years. I also have a new MacBookPro. I listen to a lot audiobooks on my iPod and iPhone, most of them I get from the library. When I first started doing this the only way I could get it to work was load the disks and then put the chapters all in a playlist together. I could not figure out how to get them to show up as an audiobook. I keep my iTunes up to date and recently a friend said I could select audiobook under sorting and that would fix my problem. It did put them in the audiobook category but now I can't see the chapters, it sees every disk as a book and if I have more than one book by the same person, it puts them together--if I select audiobook in the sorting.

ITunes :: Why Can't Download Audible Books
I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and had my local apple store transfer my iTunes library from my old iMac to my new MacBook.  To look at it on the screen, everything looks fine.  But when I try to download my book that I purchased from to my new iPod it's telling me, "Some of the Audible files in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."

ITunes Mac :: Audible Books Won't Sync To IPhone 4
It's really weird. The Audible files will play in iTunes on my computer, but I get an error every time I sync my phone saying that my computer isn't authorized to play the Audible files. I've tried deauthorizing my computer so I can reauthorize it, but I get a problem there as well. It rejects my username/password and won't deauthorize the computer, but I've tried typing them in multiple times and I know I'm typing the correctly (yes, I'm using my Audible account info, not my iTunes info). So I can't deauthorize my computer or sync my books. I'm running iTunes 9.2.1. and iOS 4.0.

ITunes :: How To Prevent Syncing Newly Added Books And Pdf's
Is there a way to prevent newly added books and pdf's to iTunes from syncing automatically to all my iOS devices? Every time I add a new book or PDF to my iTunes library (under OS X) the next time I sync any of my iOS devices they are automatically synched to that device. I want to select by my myself which books or PDF's I want to sync and when. As i own 2 iPad's and 2 iPhones it is very annoying to delete the new additions from each device tab in iTunes or on the device itselfs after synching. Sometimes I add 10 books at a time to iTunes manually and I don't want them to be synced to any device at the moment but they get automatically marked for syncing in iTunes. I use the latest iTunes 10.6. and all devices are on iOS 5.1?

ITunes Mac :: Sharing Library Doesn't Include All Music That's In Main Music Library?
I turned on Home Sharing in the Remote app on my iPhone 4. It readily found my Home Sharing Library from my iMac (that contains 1306 items). After entering in my Apple ID and password, I tried to search for a recently purchased song using the Remote app and it didn't find it. I went to the iMac and immediately found the song in the Library and in the Purchased playlist. I also noticed that the Library on the iMac contains 2781 items.

Question #1: Why wouldn't the Home Sharing Library on my iMac not contain the same songs that are in the Library on the same iMac?

To solve the problem, I just synced the iMac to the Remote app (not through Home Sharing) and was able to see my entire library.

Problem/Question #2: Since my Home Sharing library doesn't show all the music, when my wife's MacBook Home Shares, she too does not see all the music available for streaming. They are all on the same wi-fi network. The reason I use Home Sharing vs. Sharing of the library is that I automatically transfer iPhone apps across the network as she syncs her iPhone to her computer (she wants no music).

ITunes Mac :: Set 'watched Folders' To Automatically Import Media To Library?
One thing I've long missed in iTunes is the ability to auto-import new music as and when I drag it into one of my music folders. Unfortunately, as I keep my music in a few different places (one large folder for my album collection, one large folder for my iTunes and 'singles' collection, DJ stuff, audio projects for work etc...) the options provided to me by Apple don't really seem like they're going to work for me. For instance, if I click 'File>Add to Library' then it's going to take me forever to remember which tracks are new since I last updated, and in which folders; I can't just re-add the entire folder tree as there's a lot of them and I'll probably end up with a load of duplicate entries. iTunes' supposed 'Automatically add to iTunes' folder also won't work for the same reason. I actually can't see how that folder helps; surely people want to automatically add ALL their new media to their media player program? I can't see anybody placing their whole music collection within a single folder called 'Automatically add to iTunes'?!! Surely there's a better way to watch a variety of folders for new media and import it automatically as it's created??!

ITunes :: Songs Don't And Won't Appear In Library
I'm having problems with songs I've loaded into iTunes not appearing in my library, even though they're on the hard drive, and properly filed in the iTunes folder.

I ripped all of my Beatles CDs a couple years ago, and now that I'm looking at them again, certain tracks are missing when I search under album, title, or artist.

Strangely enough, they ARE on the hard-drive, properly organized in the iTunes folder.

Even more strangely, when I try to drag the file into iTunes again, it STILL won't appear, though it WILL play.  However, even when it plays, the library still does not show that the song exists. Do I now have to somehow rebuild the library?  It seems like that's what's called for.

OS X Leopard :: Local Computer Appearing In Shared Section In Finder?
Just wondering why my local computer appears in the "Shared" section of the left sidebar in Finder?

Actually, the name shown is: "Romain_(apple.local)" ; Romain being my username, and "Apple" being the old DNS name of my computer, which is now "iMac".

When I click on it, I only get the option of "Screen Sharing" (the whole window is empty), and when I click the button, the screen sharing app says I can't share the screen of my local computer, and then closes.

ITunes Mac :: Add To Library - Unknown Album Appearing On Screen
I upgraded to iTunes 10 and I'm having problems with importing music and converting files. I create a lot of my own music and keep my files in the AIFF format for burning to CD. But I also want to import these songs into iTunes, so I use the "add to library" function. They'll import, appear on the iTunes screen, and look fine. Then I'll convert them to AAC. Sometimes the converted files show up on the screen, sometimes they don't. They'll be in the appropriate folder in my iTunes Music folder, but they won't actually show up on the iTunes screen. I would delete the AIFF versions of the songs, but if I do that, I often don't see the album or songs in my iTunes library anymore.

The AAC files are still in the proper folder, though. I try to re-add the songs, but they still don't show up on the iTunes screen. Sometimes quitting out of iTunes and relaunching it will cause the song titles to appear in the appropriate place in iTunes, and sometimes quitting doesn't help. Then there's the problem of some files converting and "Unknown Album" appearing next to the album art. This won't happen with every track, just some. I'll quit out of iTunes and relaunch, and it usually appears correctly after that.

ITunes Mac :: See IPod Songs In ITunes - But Can't Save Them In Library Or Music Folder?
Initially had loaded my iTunes onto a PC and "homeshared" to my Mac. PC died and could not disable homesharing on THAT end. But did disable homesharing on my Mac.

Synced by iPod (appears to be a PC model) and all songs showed up under device in iTunes. But, all songs were downloaded from CDs (not iTunes store). So: tried to select all and save to a new folder under music. No dice.

Tried "Add to Library" from iTunes File Menu...nada. Since the songs were originally loaded to the iPod from a Windows PC, do I need a utility in order to get them uploaded to my Mac? Really don't want to have to re-record them all (>1000 songs) and know I must be missing something obvious here.

ITunes Mac :: ITunes Library / Gone And Won't Show Up
I recently reformatted my Mac after some partitioning issues. I backed everything up on Time Machine, launched Disk Utility, reinstalled the OS, and then restored data from the backup. Worked incredibly smoothly - everything appears to be in working order except for one thing: iTunes.I launched iTunes 10 and all my old playlists were there, but they were all "empty" (it wasn't even an empty list, just a blank white screen). I've tried everything: reinstalling iTunes (after following the complete uninstall directions on this site as best as I could), deleting previous libraries, and nothing will show up. The same applies to Movies, TV shows, etc. I just opened a song in iTunes and it plays fine...after the song ends it switches to another song I added, so I know that the songs are there, just nothing's displaying.

Also when viewing iTunes preferences, sometimes it crashes giving me a -50 error, so I know that there has to be something wrong here.

ITunes :: Can't Find Its Library
I have been using a 2007 MacPro laptop, using OSX 10.6.4 for several years. I have my Itunes library on an external hard drive. I purchased a new MacPro laptop recently with 10.7.3. Both seem to be using Itunes 10.6. When I plug in the external hard drive Itunes doesn't see a library file, and no tunes are shown. I see the lists of files, but can't sync to a library file. I pluged in my Ipod Classic and about 1800 songs are in the new laptop Tunes media folder. But I cant get to the library where some 8000+ tunes, books, podcast's live. When I shift back to the old library no problems are noted. When I shift to the new laptop only the 1800 files it copied from from the Ipod are displayed. I seem to be able to tell it the library is external in advanced preferences, but no library can be found.

ITunes Mac :: Can't See Library In Itunes 10
I installed itunes 10 on my new macbook pro, and it is glitching so that I can't see the contents of any of the libraries or watch tv episodes or films. Oddly I can play music, but it won't show me what I am playing.

In an effort to fix the issue, I have...
- uninstalled itunes and re-installed it
- uninstalled itunes 10 and installed itunes 9.2 instead
- checked all possible software updates, and downloaded the available ones
- uninstalled all itunes and installed 9.1 as a replacement

nothing has helped. I have also been having trouble downloading episodes off of a season pass as itunes has (even prior to the update) as over the course of a few days it has said that itunes is unavailable even though it let me purchase a new episode.

ITunes :: Can't Select Library To Restore?
I have followed the steps for restoring my iTunes library from my Time Machine backup. When I go to choose the library (which I copied to my new computer), the file remains grey and can't be selected. I copied two companion files that had .itdb labels as well as the library file (all were from the most current backup and showed that I had opened them the last time I used my computer before it died). I could not find any .xml files related to this iTunes library (some of the help said there would be files like this as well). My old computer was running iTunes 10.6.1, same as my new computer.
