OS X :: Wants To Connected IMac With 3 Screens
Aug 2, 2009I currently have a 20" iMac with a second 19" widescreen DVI monitor running in portrait mode, is there anyway I can connect a 3rd monitor to extend my desktop over the 3 screens ?

Aug 26, 2010Seems that the more I read about refurb imacs the more I notice dust on the inside of the screen
I have two specs of dust trapped on mine, they haven't annoyed me yet but I'm considering getting suction cups and cleaning it. Would this be the best approach or sending it in?
I haven't done it and I'm slightly scared to do it
IMac :: Low End Of 24inch Screens Good Enough?
Mar 4, 2009I plan to use it for basic home stuff such as photos, video editing (basic), t'internet etc. I dont plan to play any games on it (i have a ps3 and a wii which do a much better jobs me thinks). The question is this: will the low end 24in imac be good enough? there seems to be a lot of negative comments round here on the graphic card. also on a not less serious note, do you find the screen too big on your desk. Is it overwhelmingly big?

Dec 2, 2009While me and my friends were trying to figure out possible causes of this issue on LED screens, someone came up with the brilliant idea that the problem could be caused by the sound speakers. His recently LED TV had the same problem. He found out that what was causing the yellowish tinge on his TV were the Sound Speakers. Volume speakers use magnets, so the magnetic field was screwing up the colors on his tv tending to yellow.
After having removed the Sound Speakers the yellow tinge disappeared in about 2/3 hours. I tried this on my led screen laptop with a magnet I had in the kitched, and guess what! It worked, color changed, not for yellow but it changed for sure. The Sound Speakers on new IMacs are near yellow tinge, that's why some people are getting it worse. I've reported to apple. Faulty design Quality Control. If you have his tell us if you're using internal or external speakers. This may lead us to more clues.

OS X :: IMac Camera Not Connected?
Sep 6, 2010My Dad has a 2006 17" iMac that is fully updated and it does have a camera built in as it should. My Dad also has a cannon all in one printer scanner copy machine hooked up to the computer. As of this moment, when I hit an application like Photo Booth or something else that uses the camera, the program says that no camera is connected.
I did a little detective work and found where someone hooked up an all in one HP device and the scanner took over the "port" that the iSight camera was supposed to be on. I don't know if this is the problem or not but it was all I could come up with. I am pretty Novice when it comes to computers and don't know how to tell what is on any port or how many ports their even are for that matter.

Like check the batteries, sync, pairing etc. The mouse is showing connected and strangely even wake the computer. Problem is then it freezes given no other option but to Hard start my mac. The classic "bong" sound at startup, I know that is the result of a successful POST, but mine didn't do one after the 1st startup. I had speakers plugged in to it when I started up the 2nd time, and no sound. I unplugged the speakers, and I got the sound. Is that normal or do I need to contact Apple? I jut want to make sure nothings wrong with my iMac. I checked the POST results in System Profiler and it said Passed.

Apr 7, 2012My brand new iMac will not stay connected to wifi. When I try to open Safari it says a wifi connection does not exist. When I diagnose the problem it connects to my wifi before I even get a chance to choose a wifie network to diagnose. This happens every single time.

IMac :: Humming Noise From Speakers When Connected To 27"
Jan 27, 2010so i love my new 27"; it's simply fantastic.... so far. i encountered a problem when i plugged in a 1/8 to RCA to go to my surround sound system. There is a loud humming sound coming from the speakers when i connect it. i tried to wiggle it and push it further to no avail. the sound was still there. i tried using another cable and the sound was still there. then i tried plugging in my headphones, and they WORK FINE! what the hell is going on and how do i fix this problem?

IMac :: Unable To Activate Sound Output / Connected To HDTV?
Nov 4, 2010I have an iMac 27 and I want to connect it to a HDTV samsung 46 full HD. I have conected from displayport to HDMI and i get the screen. But at the same time I have connected a 3,5 minijack from the computer to the RCA audio in of the TV but I dont get sound. I have checked the config of the TV and I dont find any place to activate it. Then, talking about the screen. I have few questions.
How can I stop the screen on the iMac and work only with the HDTV?
How can I config that the windows on the tv have bigger letters while they keep on the same way on the i Mac's screen?
The tv is kind of far away and is difficult to see the letters.

The external monitor appears dull (whites have a yellow tint) Is there a way to match up the display to look like mac? I am using the monitor next to my iMac and its currently distracting as its displaying same colors in different tone.

Mar 19, 2010Just got a WD My Book World Edition II 2TB. I would like to reformat this drive specifically for mac. It's sole purpose is to be used with Time Machine.
I currently have the drive connected to my IMAC via ethernet. Finder shows the external HD listed under Shared as MyBookWorld and another one as MyBookWorld-Backup. Time Machine preferences/select disk shows this drive as "WD_Backup on MyBookWorld-Backup".
Using DiskUtility.app the drive DOES NOT show up!
Should I send this drive back from where I ordered? Anyone have any experience with this drive? Should I even bother to reformat?
I have NOT installed the software that came with the drive? Why should I?

Hardware :: Drive Recognized When Connected Via USB But Not When Connected Via FireWire?
Jan 28, 2009I consider myself very good at all things Mac. But this one has me stumped.
I've just arrived home with a WD My Book Home Edition 1TB external drive. Formatted for Windows it mounted correctly via FireWire and USB.
First things first: I formatted it for the Mac... Mac OS Extended (Journaled), two GUID partition tables. So far so good. Each partition is recognized, each mounts like it should.
Time Machine then backed up my Intel iMac... again, everything's normal. No odd or unusual behavior.
Here's where things get strange.
For whatever reason I formatted the drive via USB. But my intention hereafter is to connect via FireWire... I need each USB port for peripherals.
But the drive isn't recognized through FireWire. I'm asked if I want to initialize it. When reconnected through USB the drive mounts again.
What's going on? Why is the drive recognized when connected via USB but not when connected via FireWire?
