IMac :: Mighty Mouse Working But Says Not Connected

Feb 1, 2010

I went to preferences "bluetooth". I noticed that my MM is not connected but still works. Here's what is on bluetooth...
Apple wireless mouse: Connected: Yes
Apple's mouse connected: No
Bob's mouse no This is the MM.
How can I get it connected. I also have a MS wireless mouse running. The MM like I said does work but not the way it should.

IMac :: Magic Mouse Is A Wireless Mighty Mouse

Dec 14, 2009

My new Magic Mouse appears as a wireless Mighty Mouse on my iMac 10.6.2. When I open the mouse Preferences Panel, I get the options for the Mighty Mouse, not the Magic Mouse. It worked fine on my hackintosh with 10.5.8 but not with 10.6.2, so it seems the culprit might be in 10.6.2? It seems that USB Overdrive is the culprit for some, but I don't have it.

Windows On Mac :: Wireless KB And Mighty Mouse Not Working In Win 7

I just installed the RC of Windows 7 on my iMac using Boot Camp. The OS installed fine and all seems fine (WiFi, sound etc.), except for some reason I can't seem to be able to use my (bluetooth) Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse. I am currently being forced to use my old keyboard/mouse that I had on my old PC.

Hardware :: Mighty Mouse Button 3 Not Working Properly

May 5, 2009

Today after I cleaned my mighty mouse (by rolling the scroll ball on a piece of paper) the Button 3 would not work properly and neither would the primary button. When the scroll ball is set as Button 3 the primary button and the scroll ball both do Button 3 actions even though in the preferences its not set up that way. I can't click anything with it, it just keeps opening new tabs in Firefox and when I click those tabs they close. And as I typed this I noticed the secondary button isn't working well either. I took out the batteries, turned off bluetooth, changed the preferences, restarted my MacBook and it's all the same.

MacBook :: Mighty Mouse Pointer No Longer Working?

May 6, 2009

I've been using my M Mouse successfully with my MacBook until recently when the Mouse Pointer no longer moves. The button does engage the dashboard and if I position the cursor using the MacBook trackpad, then the click function of the mouse does work. I have tried changing the batteries. It appears I am having a similar problem when I use a wired mouse. Just in case it's connected, I run Parallels and did recently upgrade Windows software.

Hardware :: Mighty Mouse Not Working Fine / Unable To Scroll Down

Oct 5, 2009

This is an issue most of you are probably familiar with. The 360 scroll ball on my mighty mouse has become so lodged with dirt (I'm assuming) making it impossible to scroll down. Scrolling left, right, and up works okay at best. When I scroll in the working directions, it makes a smooth tracking sound (tick-tick-tick-tick), when I scroll down, this sound is absent and is replaced by a "shhh" sound, which is the beginning of the word I'm thinking of when I hear it.

I've tried the "dry cloth" (when has that ever 100% worked) with no avail, then I resorted to using a sewing needle to get around the ball (which caught a very small amount of dirt). The down-scroll still doesn't work (I mean, it doesn't work AT ALL, it's not functional) and I don't know what to do. I'm sure the mouse can handle more than just regular-consumer workload.

Hardware :: Mighty Mouse Not Working Fine / Unable To Scroll Horizontally

Aug 25, 2005

I recently developed a scrolling problem with my Mighty Mouse. It started to only vertical scroll in one direction. I reinstalled the software and it did not help. So, I called Apple tech support. While waiting on the line, I decided to press quite hard on the scroll button and try to scroll. That cured the problem, after that it only required the normal light touch to work properly. I do not know what was the cause of the problem, maybe dust(?), in any event it is working fine now.

In system proferences under mouse and spaces both are set for the middle button to open the dashboard and the side buttons to expose all windows but they don't do that. It could be an easy fix but I don't know what else to try?

IMac :: Mighty Mouse Getting Stuck

Nov 19, 2008

I have an iMac 24" that I have had for about 18 months now, after switching from a PC. I absolutely, positively love my iMac and OSX, and will never go back to Windows. I love absolutely everything about how my iMac looks and behaves, with one big exception. The "Mighty" Mouse. Simply put, it sucks. It isn't so mighty. Not the design or the looks, on the contrary, it fits the hand, and has all the buttons in the right place. But just one 'tiny' thing really kills me - the tracking. I have tried both the corded and the bluetooth versions, and they both suck. Neither one will track fast enough to go across my 24" of sapace without lifting the mouse up to return it to the position I started from. And yes, I know all about Steermouse, and have it loaded even with my current Logitech laser mouse. Problem is, it (the Logitech mouse) looks terrible sitting next to my classy iMac. Has anyone out there found a way to make the Mighty Mouse (either version) track better? Is the problem in the hardware, or software? Just my 2 cents I guess.

Hardware :: IMac Keyboard - Mighty Mouse

Aug 11, 2007

I am about to purchase a new imac with the 2.8 intel extreme, 2gb ram etc. but I'm having difficulty with the keyboard and mouse decision and whether or not I should go wireless. I think I have decided not to go wireless on the mighty mouse as I don't like them and would rather buy a different one, perhaps a logitech mouse - any suggestions? The keyboard I know will be fantastic as it is the same key as my macbook's, But can someone please give me the pros and cons of each except the obvious of course being wired has usb hubs and wireless will use batteries. What differences are there between the two and is it worth the extra 5 week delivery wait for the wireless?

IMac :: Mighty Mouse Disconnecting Quite Frequently

Mar 16, 2009

My wireless mighty mouse has been disconnecting from my new iMac quite frequently. The bluetooth on the menu bar still shows the three little dots like its connected. Since I don't have another mouse to connect when this happens, I have to jump on my laptop and use screen share to "disconnect" and then reconnect the mouse. The guy at the Apple Store that sold me my computer told me that his does this a lot. I thought he was crazy. My MacBook has never done this before. I'm using the exact same mouse that I used with my MacBook. Should I call up Apple and ask them to send me a wired mighty mouse because this happens so often and send them the unused one?

Mac :: Mighty Mouse Does Not Work With 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo 20" Aluminum IMac?

Feb 6, 2009

I have a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo 20" Aluminum iMac. I often have a problem with my mouse not working when booting. I turn the computer on, and more than half the time, the mouse infrared thing on the bottom turns on then goes by the time the blue screen comes. Then I have to reboot again, and usually about 3 times before it finally works. I use the Mighty Mouse connected to the Apple Keyboard connected to a USB extension cable. I tried it without that but it still didn't work. Any suggestions would be great. If none of them work, I will contact AppleCare as I am still under warranty.

Hardware :: Mighty Mouse Not Working Fine / Right Click Acts As Left Click

Feb 12, 2007

I just bought a mighty mouse, happy as I was, plugged it in and started my ibook running OS X 10.3.9.I know the mighty mouse shouldn't have full functionality (as the software delivered with it is >10.4.2).The problem is that the right click doesn't work right. When I try to right click it sometimes takes the right click, sometimes takes it as a left click (which is extremely annoying in firefox or finder).

I have SteerMouse (I'm a windows/linux user too) installed but when I denstalled it the problem remained.
When I plugged the mighty mouse in my pc (at that time running windows) right click just worked. When using a cheap mouse (from pleomax) the right click on the ibook (with Steermouse installed) works all the time.

I find this al really confusing. Seems like it can't be the hardware because it works on windows, but it can't be the software because another mouse does work.

I noticed that when right clicking at the total right side near the "expose-button" (not a position my fingers lay naturally) right click works all the time. I don't hope this is normal?

Hardware :: Mighty Mouse Pointer Stopped Responding / Green Light On Bottom Of Mouse Flashing

May 1, 2009

I know that the general consensus here is that the Mighty Mouse is a piece of shit. That notwithstanding, I'd appreciate posters refraining from engaging in further elaborations on that concept when replying to this topic (i.e., no comments like "Buy a new mouse," please).

At any rate, I purchased a wireless Mighty Mouse about a month ago and was very happy with it until the batteries apparently died. One day the pointer simply stopped responding and the green light on the bottom of the mouse was flashing. I replaced the batteries and the mouse resumed normal operation. Then, a few days later it happened again. I have yet to re-replace the batteries and have reverted to using my now eight-year-old Logitech dual-optical mouse (possibly the finest peripheral I have ever owned). Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Is this mouse having internal hardware or software issues or is it normal for it to devour batteries at this rate? System Preferences says that Bluetooth is maintaining the connection properly, so I am ruling that out as an issue. I would just say to hell with it, and use my Logitech mouse full-time, but my wife hates it and I payed seventy goddamn dollars for the Apple product.
