Mac Pro :: Win 7 On Intel Xeon Mac Pro - Getting Blue Screens

Jun 10, 2009

I have a Intel Xeon Mac Pro and I've been able to put XP and Vista on it without issue, but am now trying to put Win 7 on it and every time after doing the initial installing files and then reboot, it comes to a blue screen and reboots very quickly.

Has anyone run into this and if so have you found a work around?

For more info, I created a Windows partition in Leopard using the Boot Camp utility and divided my drive equally. Then I insert the Win 7 disc and click on the start install and it reboots. I select the Boot Camp partition and format it. It copies files and does the install process and eventually gets to a point where it reboots and goes to load the Win 7 OS and this is when it blue screens.

I have done all the firmware updates on my Mac Pro, I even tried it on another Mac Pro with the same results.

I've redownloaded the iso direct from MS and burned it using different brand disc and using a different burning app. I tried the 64bit version also and whenever I use that version it comes up asking me what CD drive, 1 or 2, I can't enter in a 1 or a 2 or do anything at all but turn the machine off. I even tried it on another Mac Pro with the same result.

I tried removing the OS X drive and having only 1 hard drive in the system that's just for installing Win 7 to, all to no avail. Every time with the 32bit version I get a blue screen and every time with the 64bit version I get the "which cd drive" screen and cannot do anything but power off the machine.

I was able to do an upgrade from Vista after installing Vista SP1 but after it completed and tried to load the Win 7 OS for the first time it again blue screened.

MacBook Pro :: Has Frequent Kernel Panics And Blue Screens On Startup

Sep 1, 2014

My friend has been having trouble with his 15 inch, early 2011 macbook pro. He is running OS X 10.9.4

It seems to work great until he streams media or connects to his school email.

I've taken a picture of what the screen looks like when it last froze while he checked his email:

Shortly after this, he had trouble booting the macbook back up. He would see either a blue screen with light and dark blue vertical lines. He would also boot up the computer and it would be stuck on the white loading screen without the apple logo.

I also have the console logs for the past few bootups:

Software :: Computer Freezes To Desktop / Dual Screens Flashing Blue

Apr 16, 2009

My dual screens are flashing, sometimes fading in and out of blue. Sometimes when they flash back to my normal desktop from the blue, everything is frozen, I can't move the mouse or do anything. What is going on with this? I have a Mac Pro Tower, OS X 10.5.4, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core intel Xeon processing, 6 GB 800MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM RAM. I use this machine to run a recording studio. I have searched for answers on the forums but my mac will not respond to any keyboard commands even with the installation dvd inserted. I don't get the startup chime anymore either.

IMac :: Unable To Boot Up

Jul 27, 2010

Whenever I turn on my computer, I see a flashing folder icon, occasionally interspaced with a globe icon. I read elsewhere that this lasts for several minutes, but it can go on for an hour without pause. I tried booting up from my install disc, but couldn't get the computer to acknowledge it.

I was able to start installing with a 10.5 upgrade disc, but was unable to complete it because the computer did not already have 10.4 or later on the HD (for the record, I was on 10.5.8 before it crashed). I tried restarting it from the Network.

I can't even access my HD through a firewire cable; the HD simply won't show up on the host computer's screen. I'm pretty sure this means that my HD is hosed, but I thought I'd ask to make sure.

IMac :: Unable To Boot From External?

Aug 31, 2010

I have an intel iMac (2.4 Ghz C2D) and at the beginning of the year I purchased a Drobo. I have all my data on the Drobo, and decided to move my home folder to the Drobo. I discovered I could not boot as the admin if the Drobo was not connected.

I want to use Super Duper to clone my HD on an external so I can boot from it on my Macbook when I travel. My internal HD on the iMac is 320GB but only 60GB is used (applications). The home folder on the Drobo is 300GB's in size. If I partitioned a 500GB drive say one partition being the home folder and the other partition the internal drive on my iMac would I be able to boot from the external?

The question is this: will the low end 24in imac be good enough? there seems to be a lot of negative comments round here on the graphic card. also on a not less serious note, do you find the screen too big on your desk. Is it overwhelmingly big?

IMac :: Unable To Fix Boot Camp / Can't Install Windows

May 1, 2010

I own every piece of software and hardware from Apple there is and I cannot understand that it seems that everything is about the iPad and iPhone right now. I have been having these issues since I got my 27" iMac. I can install Windows 7 just fine on my MacBook Pro and my previous 24" iMac.

Ever since I got the 27" iMac I get a black screen when installing Windows. I have found some posts that have a way around it, which seemed to have worked but now I am getting the blue screen of death. Doesn't matter if Windows 7 is supported by Apple or not but Boot Camp is and it should be corrected.

There is no excuse that after 6 months this issue has still to be addressed, all Apple talks about now is iPad and iPhone, I am sick of it.
BTW I own an iPad and I don't see the big fuss about it, I bought it mainly to read books and watch Netflix on the go.

IMac :: Found Yellow Tinge Source On LED Screens

Dec 2, 2009

While me and my friends were trying to figure out possible causes of this issue on LED screens, someone came up with the brilliant idea that the problem could be caused by the sound speakers. His recently LED TV had the same problem. He found out that what was causing the yellowish tinge on his TV were the Sound Speakers. Volume speakers use magnets, so the magnetic field was screwing up the colors on his tv tending to yellow.

After having removed the Sound Speakers the yellow tinge disappeared in about 2/3 hours. I tried this on my led screen laptop with a magnet I had in the kitched, and guess what! It worked, color changed, not for yellow but it changed for sure. The Sound Speakers on new IMacs are near yellow tinge, that's why some people are getting it worse. I've reported to apple. Faulty design Quality Control. If you have his tell us if you're using internal or external speakers. This may lead us to more clues.

MacBook Pro :: Cannot Boot Pass The Blue Screen?

Jan 6, 2011

My macbook pro cannot boot pass the blue screen, all startup keys failed to work [URL]. If all I need is one successful boot to copy all my files off the hard disk. Should I:

A. leave it as it is and hope for the blue screen will eventually go away;

B. keep rebooting and hope for the computer will boot up correctly by chance; or

C. Power off and unplug everything, leave it overnight and try booting it again next morning?

I've heard some people could get their computer back to normal just by option C, which sounds weird to me. Is that possible? How does that work?

PowerPC :: IBook G4 Won't Boot Beyond Blue Screen?

Dec 13, 2007

After installing an app ('Detour') I was asked to (or it was suggested that I should) restart my computer. I did so, and now my 1.33GHz iBook G4 turns on - but it will not go any further than a blank blue screen (after the initial grey screen that appears.) Thankfully, all my data is on an external drive. I keep my music and footage which I have shot on there amongst other things. I also have a backup on my external via Time Machine of all my data which I keep on the iBook drive, so nothing should be lost.

OS X :: Macbook Won't Boot Up Past Blue Screen

May 16, 2009

I hardly ever turn off my Macbook unless i need to - I just close it and use it whenever i need to. I let the battery run dry as Apple suggests to do every now and again, and turned it on the next day. It started to boot and took a little longer to get past the grey apple logo and loading circle and then froze on the blue screen. I can control the mouse, but every few seconds it changes to a darker blue, cursor disappears but returns after a second or two. I've tried:

- Booting into safe mode (Same thing happens)
- Booting from CD and repairing permissions (Said everything was ok, same thing happens when I booted)
- Single user mode (used some commands from an Apple page and restarted)

I can however boot into windows perfectly fine, which leads me to suspect it's a corrupt log in item. I'd like to know for sure it's not a hardware problem so I don't have to take it into an Apple Store.

MacBook Pro :: Boot Stalls Blue Screen?

May 16, 2012

Mbp had a kernel error and would not boot so I took it to Apple store and they said it needed new harddrive. I installed a new hard drive and 8gb of ram while i was at it.When trying to install the OS on the new hd, it would stall at random points every time, so I made another appointment at the Apple store. The morning of my appointment I managed to get the OS to install but then it froze in the setup stage so I went ahead and went to my appointment. This time they suggested it was the hd cable, so I got that replaced and the mbp was working fine when the guy brought it back out to me.When i got home i tried to install Snow Leapord, it froze, and now I cant do anything. Now when it boots I get the apple logo screen with a loading circle underneath for about 1 minute, and then it goes to alternating between blue screens, one with a loading circle and one without.I've tried all the basic bs stuff and nothing has changed?

OS X :: Won't Boot In Safe Mood / Only Boots To A Blue Screen

Aug 24, 2010

I just go a new Macbook Pro 13' from my school (my school made it mandatory to get a mac this year) and I was installing some of my applications. Then I got the "You need to restart your computer" message. I restarted, and all i got was a blue screen with my pointer. Then after a while it says the same restart message. Also I have tried booting from the Snow Leopard Disk, but I get the same message before the actual SL installer comes up. I have been able to get the Macbook to boot in safe mode and I repaired permissions and the disk, however that does not seem to help. I have also reset the PRAM and that did nothing. I am running out of ideas... how can I fix this? I am using 10.6.4.

Software :: G4 IBook Won't Boot Past Blue Screen

Oct 4, 2009

I am trying to reformat an iBook for a friend. Everything was running, but, there was no chime on boot. I logged into the machine, and was checking files and folders when it locked up. It actyally locked up while trying to run Microsoft Word. It now boots to a grey screen the the little "spinning" thing, and then, instead of going to the login screen, it just turns blue. It will NOT boot into Safe Mode, it will NOT boot to the iBook Install CD, I just get the same blue screen using both methods. I used Command-Option-P-R without success. I booted to Open Firmware and typed reset-nvram without success. I don't know what else to try. I am copying her files right now by booting into Target Disk mode, but, once I get that done, I still won't be able to boot the install disc to get the system wiped and reinstalled. What else can I do to correct this?
