My bluetooth used to work perfectly fine. Then one day my keyboard wasn't connected. I changed the batteries. But the Bluetooth icon kept saying that it was not available. I went into my settings and it all looks chinese to me. My keyboard isn't connecting at all.
View 2 RepliesUsing an Apple Bluetooth keyboard, when I lock my screen (using the Keychain Access dropdown menu method) and leave my computer for an extended period of time (a matter of hours), the keyboard disconnects and thus, I cannot enter my password when I return. I checked the Bluetooth set up options and while I realize this is likely due to battery life concerns for the keyboard, is there anyway to keep the keyboard connected while not in active use? Is there a screen locking method that still allows me access to the Bluetooth set up menu when locked?

My iMac recently shows a "low battery" warning on the keyboard batteries.Â
The iMac's hard drive had just been fixed by a shop and the OS re-installed. To my surprise I didn't need to do anything to get it to recognize both bluetooth keyboard and mouse - it just worked! Wow.Â
Until yesterday. I took out the keyboard batteries, charged them, and put them back in. Â
Now I get the login prompt where I have to enter a password. The only problem is, I can't enter a password without a keyboard! And it doesn't recognize the keyboard. Â
I tested the keyboard with my MacBook Pro - it works just fine. So I believe that somehow the iMac thinks it's still paired with the keyboard, while the keyboard knows nothing about this. And between those two things it doesn't work.Â
I restarted multiple times, and tried to start from another partition by holding down option - the problem is the iMac doesn't recognize the keyboard at startup either.
I turned off the bluetooth function and my keyboard and mouse wont now work and I cant get back into the system - how do I reactivate without the use of the keyboard ?

A few days ago my keyboard wasn't responding so i went on line and restarted my computer. However, today my keyboard is malfunctioning again and now the Caps Lock key and the Backspace key aren´t working . What can I do to get my keyborad functioning properly again?

I have endless trouble with blue connectivity. I have tried all the obvious things. Like check the batteries, sync, pairing etc. The mouse is showing connected and strangely even wake the computer. Problem is then it freezes given no other option but to Hard start my mac. What a bummer. I am now using usb mouse no problem.

I basically want the magic mouse to automatically connect to the macbook pro when I plug the MacBook into the iMac as an external display. Obviously then I need it to disconnect from the iMac (because apparently you can only pair with one thing w/ bluetooth). I realize you can go thru the tedious steps of disconnecting from the iMac and then reconnecting to the MacBook every time, but its a pain, and honestly I can't figure out how to reconnect to the iMac if the mouse is disconnected (ie I can't move the mouse to the bluetooth icon on the iMac if it's disconnected, I hope that makes sense).

"The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OSX and bluetoot software could be invalid or unsupported." The bluetooth on my Mac connects fine to my trackpad. Is there any reason why this shouldnt work on my Mac and is there any way to get it working?

All I can hear when using it is the battery's rattling around inside the holding tube. Is this normal? If not Im definetly going to the store and have it replaced.

There are a variety of options that can be used when you boot the Mac, such as hold down the C key to boot from a CD/DVD, hold down the option key to choose the boot drive, etc. When you have a BT keyboard, it doesn't connect until it is booted. How do you get the iMac to recognize, say, the Option key?

I loaded a linux iso on a usb. Loaded it on a reboot. It may have been corrupted or something, because it did not load correctly. I rebooted the computer again and now the bluetooth keyboard and mouse will not connect.

I've got things close to how I want them with front row and plex doing most of the dirty work. For my planned use, no keyboard or mouse are needed. A combo of the apple remote and snatch on my itouch are doing quite well. The problem is, if I turn the machine off, it sees no mouse or keyboard over usb, and attempts to find them over bluetooth. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this? I've tried just turning bluetooth off before shutdown, but this doesn't seem to solve it. This is REALLY annoying, as I'd prefer to keep the machine off more often rather than having is sleep all the time.

I've been trying to get Windows 7 (under Boot Camp) to recognize my Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse, and for some reason it's not working. I first tried it with the drivers that come on the disc, and those didn't work (found the mouse/keyboard but wouldn't work), then I tried the Bluetooth update that Apple released, and that didn't work either. The mouse and keyboard show up in the Bluetooth devices as 'Connected', but neither work.
When I restart the computer the mouse/keyboard work at the login screen, but once I login they stop working. If I boot into Mac OS, and then boot back into Windows, they work fully, but after about 5 minutes they stop working. Why is this happening? Did anyone else have this problem?
Installed a new bluetooth keyboard today. Now my volume controls and other features on the F1 - F12 Keys do not work.Went into Keyboard Preferences and selected and deselected the [ ] Use All F1, F2, F3 keys as standard function keys. Regardless of the setting, the volume controls do not work. Even when holding down the [Fn] Key. I can adjust volume with the mouse ( new Magic Mouse ) using the control on the menu bar.

I have just been given a second hand powermac g5, dual 2ghz, 1.5 gb of ram and 2 500 gb hdds. I have just installed the copy of leopard that came with it, it's all up to date with all the latest updates. Now this model does not have a built in bluetooth device so i have my targus one that i no works because i have used it in the past with my mac mini. The power mac picks it up, and allows me to go searching for bluetooth devices how ever when i connect one , it locks the use of the mouse and the connected bluetooth keyboard. I have to hold the power button at the front. I have reset the PRAM, but no the PMU or the nvram yet on this unit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone had a problem with their Intel iMac mouse freezing after it wakes up from being asleep. Check my sig for specs. In particular, we have a wireless mighty mouse and everytime you wake the computer from sleep, the mouse won't work. That includes taking out the batteries and putting them back in. Keyboard still works. Is the bluetooth going bad? Could it be the mouse? We're going to schedule an appointment with the Geniuses here in Memphis so maybe they can figure something out.
