Moved to Lion on my iMac.
Now when I download a new program it doesn't show on my desktop so that I can open and install it - have to go looking for it.
How can I make it appear on the desk top after downloading . Today it was adobe reader

Don't understand the download system on my macbook pro. When i used to download items on my G4,it went to the desktop. Now, I have ot use spotlite to select download folder and then look for the download.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis problem I've been having started when the latest version of Safari moved from a Downloads window to a Downloads pop-up pane. My expectation as to how the pane should work is this: the 20 most recent downloads are shown in the list, and when a new download begins, the oldest download is removed from the list, thereby keeping the new list updated with the 20 latest downloads. My problem is that while the pane still keeps 20 past downloads listed, they're not always recent downloads. For example, when I download a file, the file will typically remain in the list until I begin a new download, at which point the slightly earlier download will be removed from the list, while even older downloads remain listed. So at the moment, listed are five recent downloads and fifteen downloads from many months ago, while downloads from days or hours ago have been removed from the list.In Preferences I have (and always have) "Remove download list items" set to "Manually." Currently I am running the lasted versions of OSX (10.7.3) and Safari (5.1.5).Â

I have a mac, and my mom has a PC. I have been on her account since I was pretty young, so It's a shared account. It's under my email and apple ID, but my mom is on the same account, on her own computer. I want to have automatic downloads so I can use it for my iphone and ipad, but I don't want her song to end up going to my devices or laptop when she downloads from her own computer. is there a way to either turn off automatic downloads for just one computer, or get her a new account, but letting her transfer all of her music onto the new one?

I accidentally deleted "Downloads" folder using this command in terminal "sudo rm -rf ~/Downloads/ " then used this one "ln -s /Volumes/Bucket/Downloads/ ~/Downloads " to redirect everyhting, but forgot to copy the Downloads folder first, so it doesnt redirect, is there a way for Mac OS X to Re-create the folder? Â

Since installing Lion, when I open "Downloads" in Finder and put it to view as "list" it won't stay this way. Each time I open it I have to put it back and also fix it to sort by most recent date. Then closing it down, and opening the icon on the dock, it shows back up as icons and alphabetically. How do you get it to stay on the "list" and by most recent date options?

so recently i began noticing, I can't drag music, movies, etc files form ituens to my desktop if i just want a copy of them on the desktop.. I figured it just itunes bug that will fix it self on restart.. However then I noticed i can't drag downloaded files from safari's download tab on top right... Before i used to open a tab and drag files to the desktop form the tab, now same thing as in itunes.. Wont do it.. I can copy stuff on a finder level but it doesn't work from an app to a desktop/finder level.. Same thing with iphoto as well..

got a new 27 inch mac and icons will not appear on destop for example icon of a flash drive i put in, its on the left of the finder window but not on desktop as all my past mac have. My #1 desktop picture cannot be modified or changed by any known method and I swear I have tried them all. I'll add the screen shot below. AND the #1 desktop cannot be delted. My #2 desktop CAN be modified. Re: Burning Desktop files and documents to a DVD - iMac - Lion. According to the "Help" feature, I put in a blank DVD and selected Finder as I was asked to do. I tried to move some files into the blank DVD window from my Desktop. But I could only move ONE file into the blank DVD window. It would NOT let me move any more files into the blank DVD window after moved the first one in. Why is that?  Â
The "Help" featuer said I could move in my files and documents one at a time and them burn them all on the DVD. This is what did for years on my older iMac with Panther.Â
how to simply burn my Desktop folders and documents to a DVD. I did figure out how to burn ALL of the Desktop items to a DVD at the same time. I am asking about individually moving the items into the DVD window to be burned.Â

How do I upgrade my desktop computers from Mac OS 10.5.8 to Lion?It seems like I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard before I can upgrade to Lion.I need to do this for 4 iMacs and I need to do it to be able to transfer my MobileMe data to iCloud before MobileMe ends on 6/30/12.Otherwise my iOS devices will be able to sync to each other but not to any of my iMacs.

Just got my new 27" iMac with a huge screen. I positioned about five different apps on the screen all tiled neatly like a puzzle.I would like to permanently save this layout of apps. I realize Mission Control provides several desktop views. Problem is if I open other apps to perform temporary tasks, I can't seem to find a way to click one button and have everything go back to my neatly organized set of tiled apps on the desktop.
