Oct 10, 2010Is there a way to default the downloads to the desktop and not the download folder. I tried looking in the FAQ but did not see it, thanks.

Jun 18, 2012I presume my computer is playing up: In the Firefox preferences, I have selected "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" and "Save files to Downloads folder"BUT - my computer neither shows the downloads window,nor saves the download to the folder.

Jul 20, 2010Not sure when it happened, but I can no longer drag & drop from my download folder to the desktop. I can, however, go through 'Find" and drop the file that way. I am running OS X. I'm on a MacBook Pro.

OS X :: Downloads Not Appearing In Folder
Apr 11, 2010I was downloading my senior pictures from the photographers website when suddenly I don't know what I did but the downloads folder disappeared from my dock! I got it back (I think...there is this little blue folder that says "downloads") But now when I download an image it won't go into that little folder on the dock. The little box pops up like it used to to show the progress of the download but it doesn't show the tiny loading bar in the little folder in the dock and when it is finished downloading it does not appear in the folder in the dock!

Apr 2, 2012my iTunes 10.6.1 on OS X 10.7.3 has been telling me 'you have 1 item awaiting download' for the last 3 or four days.but, when i select '1 iTunes download available' in download or 'download now' in iTunes account or Store/Check for Available Downloads, nothing downloads and the message remains.i've tried downloading a free tv episode to clear the count or reset the count. it says 2 downloads availabe and the free episode does indeed download. then the message goes back to 1 available.

Feb 4, 2010Is it safe to clear my downloads folder? Basically, it has become very large (~20gb). I want to create some more space because my hard drive is partitioned. Basically, what I'm wondering is, if, for example someone sends me a song. I play the song through itunes. Doesn't the song then get copied into an iTunes folder? Assuming it does, does that mean there is a duplicate file in the downloads folder as in the iTunes folder? Anyways, I wanted to know if I delete the contents of the Downloads folder, will it adversely affect the files that are actually stored in there. Meaning, will it delete them from other areas of my computer. I have random powerpoints, pictures, word documents, music, etc. in the downloads folder. It's reaching almost a 1000 files! However, for some reason now .mp4 files won't appear in the stack or in the actual folder in Finder. They appear in the Safari downloads box, but not in the stack or folder. It's kind of frustrating, because it makes it difficult for it to find what I need.

Jun 23, 2012I accidentally deleted "Downloads" folder using this command in terminal "sudo rm -rf ~/Downloads/ " then used this one "ln -s /Volumes/Bucket/Downloads/ ~/Downloads " to redirect everyhting, but forgot to copy the Downloads folder first, so it doesnt redirect, is there a way for Mac OS X to Re-create the folder?

In order to display the content of such a folder, I must double-click on the folder instead of clicking on the triangle as previous. way to get back to the right Finder display.

Nov 28, 2010I am a Mac beginner. There are 3 folders on the right hand side of the dock. Applications, Documents and Downloads. My download folder had disappeared, so I dragged one called My downloads from my documents, and it sits there ok, but it is shown as a white folder, instead of blue like the other two folders.
