How do I upgrade my desktop computers from Mac OS 10.5.8 to Lion?It seems like I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard before I can upgrade to Lion.I need to do this for 4 iMacs and I need to do it to be able to transfer my MobileMe data to iCloud before MobileMe ends on 6/30/12.Otherwise my iOS devices will be able to sync to each other but not to any of my iMacs.

I have recently purchased a Mac Mini with Lion X. I also have a couple of MBPs. I'd like to have the Mac Mini act as the place where all the Time Machine backups go (I have a 1 TB external disk hooked up to the Mac Mini). Apparently, I must have Lion x *Server* running on the Mac Mini for it to become available as a Time Machine destination for the MBPs.  How can I upgrade my Mac Mini from Lion X to Lion X Server?Â

I have a home mac desktop and a laptop. I'm wondering if you need to buy 2 seperate downloads or can they somehow be one purchase? I'm also trying to sync both computers so my email, music, calendars and bookmarks are updated on each computer-- which is another reason why I'm wondering if it's just one purchase or two seperate ones? Clearly I'm not very tech savvy, but I thought you could sync computers (also with my iphone) somehow.Â

I am using Mac OS X Lion Server on my iMac that always stays on at home. I also have 4 Macbooks that I have connected to the VPN. When all of these computers are under the same Airport Extreme at home, I can see all of them on any computer and can screen share and connect to any one of them through any computer. However, I want to be able to see these computers even if I am connected through another network. For example, if I am at my office I want to be able to see my iMac or other Macbooks on my sidebar in Finder.i have seen other people do this, I am just wondering what is it that I need to do.I can connect to my VPN from any one of my Macbooks outside of the network perfectly and even through my iPhone.
I have opened ports.

I have installed Lion on my desktop computer. How do I download Lion for my laptop.Yes, I did pay for this, but it was a download from the store. The directions to do this for multiple computers seem non-existant. Additionally, when I log in to my Apple account it does NOT note that I have purchased Lion at all.My laptop does have 10.6.8 loaded.

As time passed, we have many, many computers around our institution. At some point, users were able to update their individual software without admin assistants. However, we have changed the policy, and users can't do this anymore. Therefore, is there an easy way to push updates to multiple apple computers? The apps that need to be updated include:
1. Apple OS
2. Individual Applications
3. Apple Firmware
If you could list what product works best, and if Apple does have a in-house solution.

I am trying to share two computers together in a private network.Â
I have an iMac running OS X Lion & a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. The iMac's name on the network is: Studio The Macbook Pro's name on the network is: djlaptop I turn on file sharing, assign a name and they connect through wi-fi. In the Macbook Pro's Finder (djlaptop) the devices list shows this: Â
And on the Imac (Studio) it shows this:Â
I can't seem to get the 'Macintosh HD' of the Macbook Pro to show up on the Imac's finder (running lion). The 'DJ' is the home folder.Â
Does anyone have any more knowledge on how to get it to show up? I have checked my Finder Sidebar items and all of them are ticked. I want to mount the whole Macintosh HD and not just the home folder.Â

Were is the 4GB file after the download is complete? ALSO, if I reapply the download to that machine to reset or fix corrupted system files, etc., is the downloaded install image gone afterward? In other words, does the install "clean up" and remove the downloaded install bits?Â

We have an exiting network of approximately 50 Macs running anything from Lion to Leopard. Obviously there are existing local accounts on these machines. What I'd like to do is to administer these users and machines through Lion Server so that I can use the existing user information for all of the services provided by Lion Server, but to do so without altering the way the end user operates and without any data loss.I am having difficulty finding any information on this, but surely someone has installed Open Directory into an existing Mac network.

I just noticed that on the left side of each folder, there is a section titled "Shared" and it is showing what looks like the computer names of two PC laptops from someone I know. I have never actually done file sharing with these computers, so I'm not sure why they are displaying here? Why do these display here? I come in contact with lots of people all day long and I do not see their computers in this list.
