I have some great DVD's of lectures that I would like to convert to CD's and hand them out. How could I do this on my Mac Pro desktop?

I am just wondering what would be some of the best ways to go about doing that.Basically, I would like to show my slides along with a voiceover lecture on them. i had my friend send me some lecture presentations by email. they are all in .key format and unfortunately i have a hp netbook. i need someone to just quickly export the 4 lecture presentations into .ppt format so i can quickly jott down the notes and finish cramming for my exam. id get him to do it but he wont answer!

He zipped all the html, jpeg, and assorted text files and attached that zip file to an email. When I received it on my Mac it had been converted to a ".dat" file. He tells me that this is the result of sending a zipped file over the MS Exchange Server mail system to a Mac. (Whatever happened to cross-platform?)
Is there a Mac utility I can use to convert this dat file back to a zip file that I then can open on my Mac?

I have recently upgraded my computer from a G4 iMac running Panther to an Intel 21" screen model which runs Lion 10.7.3. I found that neither the Set Up Assistant or Migration Assistant worked as far as transferring the contents of the old system and therefore transferred it manually.
Included in the contents transferred were a number of Appleworks spreadsheets which worked in conjunction with a series of Applescripts to produce various types of textile patterns, and another series which analysed stock exchange prices. I have found that basicly none of these work and wonder if there are any programs or compilers which could be used to convert them. I have bought iWorks and both Numbers and Pages do not produce satisfactory results which is somewhat disappointing. The thought of having to learn a new Applescript volcabulary and then rewrite the Scripts is somewhat daunting hence my enquiry.
How do you convert or save as a JPEG in LION? I recently upgraded and can't figure it out.....
