I would love it if my downloads simply opened using their respective programs (e.g word documents, powerpoint slides, PDFs, etc) after they completely finished downloading in Safari.

In preferences, I set safari to clear my downloads manually but it still clears it automatically. I've already tried reinstalling Safari 4 but the problem just cropped up again a week later.

Whenever I launch Pages, the application opens pretty much all the documents I've worked on. I take care to close all the windows, hoping that they won't launch again next time I start the application, yet they do. I can't find a setting in the preferences or Settings to disable this behavior.Â

In the last few days I have found that Safari automatically downloads files called "Unknown". It sometimes happens when I am using another application so it doesn't seem related to something that I have just done. Also I find that Safari is DEAD slow with some pages or part of the content of some pages. Here's what I have tried so far. I have deleted all the plist files in both the user account and the library folder in the system folder. I have zapped the PRAM, rebuilt permissions and restarted in safe mode. I have Resert Safari and Emptied the Cache under the Safari menu. I have also updated my antivirus and run it. The sites that load slowly do not behave the same way in Firefox, but I would like to use Safari for most of these most of the time. Any suggestions of a cure would be most welcome.

my macbook (running Tiger) ran out of battery before it was able to shut itself down properly. Upon reboot (and ever since) Safari has been unable to open and there is no dock. I've tried installing firefox but it won't install, and many programs won't launch. I'm assuming something happened when the battery ran out, but I can't seem to fix it. Disk Utility won't work, AppleJack won't install,
I've restarted several times, tried to update.. everything, but nothing seems to work.
I've attached a screenshot of the finder window.. notice how it is missing all the stuff in the left hand column, the dock, and the arrows

My expectation as to how the pane should work is this: the 20 most recent downloads are shown in the list, and when a new download begins, the oldest download is removed from the list, thereby keeping the new list updated with the 20 latest downloads. My problem is that while the pane still keeps 20 past downloads listed, they're not always recent downloads. For example, when I download a file, the file will typically remain in the list until I begin a new download, at which point the slightly earlier download will be removed from the list, while even older downloads remain listed. So at the moment, listed are five recent downloads and fifteen downloads from many months ago, while downloads from days or hours ago have been removed from the list.In Preferences I have (and always have) "Remove download list items" set to "Manually." Currently I am running the lasted versions of OSX (10.7.3) and Safari (5.1.5).Â

Basically what the title says. I have a few tabs open in Safari and everything's working great but as soon as I start downloading a file and the downloads window opens, the whole mac slows down, animations get choppy, and bookmarks below the address bar have problem catching up with the cursor (what I mean by that is that I quickly mouse over all of them from left to right and about three seconds later they start turning dark grey like when you hover over them).
The strange part is that when I close the downloads window, everything goes back to normal.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that this is on a Leopard install that is just a few weeks old, with everything updated and repaired permissions.
After install of OSX Lion (from Snow Leopard). I receive every 10 seconds a message: "Cannot open program ExpressAccountsAgent, because PowerPC-programs are no longer supported". I deinstalled this program with Mackeeper, without result. The message shows every 10 seconds. Is it possible to block this message?

I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?

I have used an extension called AllPagesZoom but when used on Youtube pages.I'm unable to drag player scrolls properly and some radio button problems too. I accidentally deleted a whole lot of stuff including apps, docs and critical workflow files etc of different apps.
BIG problem is, I am not sure which deleted stuff goes to which folders.
So how do I restore the stuff to their respective folders? In Windows, users have the option to right click and press "Restore" to return the files to their different folders.
