My IMAPÂ (5.2) Lion mail account set to download "Manually."Â Yet, I'm interrupted all day long by random mail arrivals. This is a concentration-killer.

I keep getting a message telling me I have not enough disc space to download downloads and e-mail attachments. As this is a fairly new machine (Christmas) with not a great deal on it, how can this be?

I wasn't able to move the data from my old MacBook to my new MacBook running Lion, because I was using FileVault on the old system, and the Migration Assistant doesn't support home directories with FileVault enabled.Â
I've managed to migrate everything without issue -- Music, Photos, Movies -- all worked great. However, when I try to start Mail under Lion, I get prompted to reconfigure Mail. I've copied the ~/Library/Mail folder and the Preferences file (com.apple.mail.plist) to the new laptop (via SFTP) but Mail won't pick up from where it left off.Â
Why does my new mail flashes on for a fraction of a second and then instantly disappear? The new mail cannot be found in Trash. Junk mail filter is activated but the conditions and/or contents are very specific and bear no resemblance to the mail I need to receive.

switched to 10.7 recently. seem to be having a problem with preview.app.i have various setting saved as follows:

One of the drawbacks of Automatically get Artwork function is that even if the proper artwork is in the iTunes database, the program does not download the correct artwork. I've noticed this is a real problem for a number of my Grateful Dead recordings (especially Dick's Picks, and the Download Series). I like the iTunes artwork because it's good quality and properly formatted, in terms of size and how the image displays, for the iPod. Is there anyway to manually go into the iTunes store, and copy and paste the correct album artwork?
Also, I know that I can just go somewhere else to get artwork, and I do when needs be, so please don't just tell me to grab it from Amazon or the like.
I presume my computer is playing up:Â In the Firefox preferences, I have selected "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" and "Save files to Downloads folder"BUT - my computer neither shows the downloads window,nor saves the download to the folder.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy iTunes 10.6.1 on OS X 10.7.3 has been telling me 'you have 1 item awaiting download' for the last 3 or four days.but, when i select '1 iTunes download available' in download or 'download now' in iTunes account or Store/Check for Available Downloads, nothing downloads and the message remains.i've tried downloading a free tv episode to clear the count or reset the count. it says 2 downloads availabe and the free episode does indeed download. then the message goes back to 1 available.

when downloading zip files on my I mac, OSX 10.6.8 Safari 5.1.5 (6534.55.3) my downloads on large files freezes and keeps adding download time but not advancing the download bar. I have left it on for days and there is no movement in the download bar. Stays at ...for ex. 7.3 MB.  Smaller files download ok

This is what it looks like. as you can see, it says the number of DLs at the bottom of the window.
The file DOES download, but for some reason, it just wont show up in my download window.
The same links work when i access them from the same internet connection on my windows destop computer,the only download links that would work when clicked are rapidshare ones,even apple.com links do not work i often have to use save link as sometimes i do not get that option..

I had my iPhone/Mac set up(seems to have just worked this way, I didn't do anything specifically) this way previous to my hard drive failing last week. When I was out(Macbook Pro is closed at home), and I received e-mail(Gmail and Hotmail), my mail would come to my phone. Then, once I opened my Macbook Pro, and the messages came into my Mail.app inbox, they would disappear(read: delete) from my iPhone. Well, my HDD died last week, and now all of my messages stay on my phone as well as on my Mac, except they don't show up as unread on my Mac if they've been read by me on my iPhone. I want them to autodelete from my iPhone when theyre downloaded to my Mac.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI didn't expect to have compatibility issues with this combination, but I am stuck. I was experiencing some small problems with Safari after upgrading: downloads would launch a new empty tab rather than an actual download, and I would get graphical glitches loading pages from top tabs - so I uninstalled Safari and downloaded a new copy. However, on re-installing, I get a message informing me that I need at least MacOS 10.5.8 installed...
Has anyone else found this? I did an upgrade install of Snow Leopard, and other than a few 3rd party apps being caught out, all is well, and I am enjoying an otherwise noticeably nippier system. As Safari was working previously (unsurprisingly), perhaps this problem stems from an OS compatibility flag within the Safari installer itself, similar to that found in 1Password recently, that could be altered within the installer package to allow installation - But I am guessing, and I don't see why I am having this issue in the first place given the amount of testing of Safari leading up to Snow Leopard.

My desktop system (an i3 running Mavericks) will not boot from its internal disk (it simply sits "spinning" its little progress bar at the Apple icon). It also fails to recognize an attached disk that has the Time Machine backups in Recovery mode.Â
Migration Assistant is worthless. I get part way through (specifying a different user as a destination with the i3 disk mounted in Target disk mode) , it exits, and nothing has changed.Â
Yet I can mount the iMac desktop and its disks on a laptop (also running Mavericks) in Target disk move, and see all the files on both disks. I have copied some, and they seem to be intact. Â
So, while I ponder this confusion, I would like to get the most critical info off and onto the laptop. One of those pieces of info is the email contents.Â
Now Mail files "were" in the users Library as I recall, but I believe things were moved in Mavericks (or maybe even a version earlier).Â
Does any one have ( and I remember seeing this posted somewhere online, but just can not find it) the steps to manually move the mail folders over to a new machine so that nothing is lost with the most recent Mail file locations?
Apple Mail keeps re-downloading all Gmail messages, even those that I've already deleted. If I go to the preferences/advance, it is simply not clear to me which option to choose. What I would like is to have a syncronized, up-to date view at all times. If I delete something here, I would like it to be deleted from the server as well.

For a day or two a few weeks ago mail.app stopped working with my Gmail POP server so I setup the account again and it worked but now its using IMAP and has a very annoying [URL] section. How can I manually set up the account? Editing the info in the existing account doesnt work. I annotated some pictures to show the problem.

The thing is that when i am trying to setup my hotmail account with the MAIL application everything works fine except that the mail client only downloads two emails from my inbox, those two emails are dated in 2004, in the status box the mail client says that there are 4690 emails but it only downloads those two emails.
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy macbook has twice now filled up it's memory trying to recover a message on the mail program from two years ago. everytime i turn on the mail program and enter my password, try to sync up my mail to my gmail account it begins recovering one specific email, over and over and over and over eventually filling up my hard drive. i have used disk utility twice to check my permissions and then repair if necessary as well as run the disk repair portion of disk utility. do i have a virus? is there a botnetfly larvae growing under my skin?

I keep getting pop ups saying I need to clean my mackbook from junk, I always securely empty my trash bin, & cant currently buy the software to scan and clean my macbook pro at the moment. My mac mail will not download mails newer than 30 days to my inbox.Â
Mails older than 30 days are downloading fine from my godaddy IMAP account.
I tried on another mac with the same result! Using another mail client than Apple mail or iOS mail on my phone works fine so the issue seems to be related to the Apple mail client (and/or iCloud?!).Â
Sent mails are synced OK so it is only an inbox related issue.Â
Rebuilding the mail database does not work. Â What to do next ?!
