Somewhere I read I could add applications to the top of the open window and I did with success.Now some of the applications are not compatible with Lion and have been deleted and the icons have changed to a ? I cannot find a way to delete the ?'s from the screen.
View 2 RepliesWhen I right click a folder I have dragged to the Dock I get the option to sort by "Date Added". This is super handy and I would like to be able to do it throughout the Finder but I can't find the option anywhere. Please note: I realize there is Date Created and Date Modified, these are not what I'm wanting to do, if a file was created and last modified a year ago, but added to a folder five minutes ago, I want to be able to sort the folder contents so that the file just added appears at the top of the list. (As they do in Stacks.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedAm trying to use Mail (version 3.6 on OS 10.5.8) and when I view a message would like to be able the 'To' and 'Cc' fields without having to use Long Headers or Raw Source options (which I found under the View - Message menu). These give far too much unnecessary information, but I need to be able to easily see who else the message has been sent to. This seems really basic for an email program and I suspect it is really obvious, but I've looked everywhere and on the web with no answers!

I just recently decided to try iMap for my google mail so that I could more efficiently read my mail on my devices and computer. Since setting up iMap, I've had a strange problem. I will open a message and the message will not be from the person that the subject and headers say it is from. Example. I get a Kohl's email with headers from amazon and then in the Amazon email is my Kohl's message. They look fine if I access the emails online through a web browser, so somehow they are getting messed up after being downloaded into Mail. This did not happen when I was using the Pop method of accessing my email accounts.

Apple Mail has a preference to 'Trust junk mail headers in messages' but I can not find a list of what those headers are.By trial and error I've learned the "X-Spam-Flag: YES" will work (exactly that, no extra info), but I'd like to know what other options there are... particularly if I can send a score/rating back and have it look at that.But I can't find a list of supported headers.The Internet is full of "common spam headers" and yet none of them actually seem to work and lots of people who can't get it working with spamassassin which is incredibly common.

But now, when I log in, I get requests from all my contacts, who already are on my contact-list, and I get those requests every time I log in. And also when I then write to one of my contacts, they see me as offline.

I use the Date Added column all the time in my iTunes, so I can see what was added last. Well, I just noticed that most of the 10,000 songs in my library have at some point lost the original 'date added' they used to have. Now, the earliest date is sometime in February of 2010. And some have been set to just a few days ago. How did this happen? Is this a bug of iTunes 10? I only just noticed this, so I'm not sure when it happened.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWith Itunes 9, every song I play gets added to the Itunes library, even if I don't want it there. I have Itunes as my default music player on a Windows 7 (64-bit) computer. For example, if in windows explorer, I click on an MP3 file that is not in the Itunes library, Itunes starts up and plays the song (which is fine), but also it adds the song to the itunes library (which I don't want). I don't see any options to change this behavior.

The majority is junk and is clogging my address book with entries that could possibly be spam addresses. First off, is there something I inadvertantly turned on? Is there a way to disable this feature? I have installed one tool called Attachment Tamer (ver3.0.10 from Lokiware) but this does not seem to have anything relevant.

How can I get the mail headers to "gray" out or be colored when they've been read? Right now, ALL messages in the list are bold black. Once I read an email, it still shows bold and black. I need some sort of identification to show what is NEW and what HAS BEEN READ.
I've been using Outlook, which grays out read messages.
i add links cmd+N than i past links cmd+V and than i want to confirm/add this link to my download queue with shortcut so i dont need to take my hands away from keyboard, grab a mouse and than click it. the add button seems to be highlighted but when i press enter/return it does not add links. the only way i have found so far is to click it with mouse.

However, each time I move files from my computer to my external, 'date added' and 'modified' reset. Clearly 'moving' files to an external is really copying them to an external, but maybe there is a way to copy library content while retaining or freezing the iTunes library's DATA connected to the content....? Is there a way to get iTunes to realize that the identical files previously on my computer are on the external with respect to 'date added?'

I've just set up my new uMBP (I know, I should have waited for the new chips, but hey - I got impatient!) I have moved my itunes media to the new machine but it is lacking all ratings, the original 'date added' as well as play counts. In fact, I have left all the old metadata behind, but these are the only three parts I'd like back. What I'd like to know is if there is a utility or mini app that can extract this kind of data from my old library file and add it to my new one.
I would have just moved the original library file but I have done that since iTunes 1 and the library file has become a bit messed up. I am rather enjoying my shiny new library file - I just want my ratings, 'date added' and play count metadata injected back in!
I love the playlist trick for the ratings but this is no good for 'date added' or play count obviously.
I have a problem with my inbox, seems its corrupted in some way. I can see the headers, but no contents, cant delete or move message. All other folders seem Ok. Its from a POP3 mailbox where the originals are deleted off the server when downloaded so I'd prefer to try and recover it but I can live with losing the contents if necessary. Any ideas? Is there a tool or way to repair? I have Time Machine but I doubt the TM backup will have caught these files between them being downloaded (they came in one batch) and being corrupted as it was only a few minutes. Not sure how I could tell if TM did catch them either. TM did recover them, now I just need to work out how to empty the inbox of the corrupt messages. Worst case I can create a new email account but I'd rather not as configuring it was troublesome. Mailbox > rebuild, then move the messages from the TM mail recovered folder back to inbox.

Right now I'm using Firefox and RefControl to do this but I'd like to be able to do it in Safari as well for testing completeness, apparently there is a SIMBL plugin called SafariRefManage that used to do this but SIMBL no longer works under Lion.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor no apparent reason, now when I create a new mailbox, the first column header contains a mystery icon consisting of two arrows, one pointing northwest and the other pointing southeast. When I right-click on the headers, there is no corresponding item in the pop-up menu (e.g. Attachments, To, From), so I have no clue what it is, nor can I hide it. Mailboxes I created prior to whatever it is that changed do not have this icon. I have not changed my OS, nor the version of Mail I am using. Can anyone tell me what this icon/column is for, and how I can get rid of it??

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Mini running 10.7.3 that I made the mistake of unchecking the show input menu in login window. Now I can't log in at all. I have tried to delete the "com.apple.loginitems.plist" using screen sharing, Lion in all its wisdom tells me I don't have permission.
I then tried to create a start up disk on one of my 2TB disks, somehow the system wasn't installed, just all the included apps. I then tried reinstalling lion on the Mac Mini, after over an hour it restarted with the same blank screen. Now when I go to the App Store Lion is no longer available to me.
