Can I stream to my TV with my buit in Wi Fi?
Info:iMac (17-inch Late 2006 CD)
I've been looking around all afternoon and can't seem to find out how to get the built-in iSight on the new 15 inch April 2010 MacBook Pros to take pictures and record at 1280 by 1024.
I've seen numerous places link me to Mac Daddy World, but that test app is only yielding 640 by 480.
Many places have also recommended to use Quartz Composer, but my knowledge of the program is limited, and I was still only able to get a 640 by 480 stream.
I have used an ibook with 10.4.11 for several years, but only for basic functions. Â
I am wondering if there is any way to stream my music from itunes on my imac over wifi to listen to it on my iphone. I like to listen to music with headphones as I work around the house, but the phone doesnt hold as many files as the imac. Â

Don't scorch me for asking, because I haven't seen this topic, so I'll ask. Is there anyway to install OS X onto the U100 WITHOUT replacing the wi-fi card built in? Isn't there a driver you can install or something?

My 2010 15" MBP has constant Wifi dropouts, sometimes minutes at a time. Sometimes I have to reconnect. Yet it gets 4 bars. My MacBook never had these problems. It's generally slower, too. It's now useless for online video like Hulu. Anyone else seeing this? I wonder whether it's hardware (e.g. they moved the antenna, and/or because of the metal case) or software/drivers? I'm going to submit feedback after input from ya'll.

MacBook. 2Ghz Intel Core Duo. OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm running a 2006 MacBook with Snow Leopard. A few months back it started dropping wifi connection. Airport would show no connection but would list my network along with others in my building. If I tried to connect with my WPA password it would just time out. At this time I was running Leopard.
Since then I've done a few things.Tried running the Netgear router with no encryption at all (same thing happens). Will lose connection and then time out trying to connect
I've tried the MacBook in a coffee shop with wifi access and at my parents (same NetGear router) and at my new apartment with a horrible Orange Livebox.
Taken the MacBook in to see the genius bar at Glasgow Apple store. Worked fine for them, but I explained it was intermittent but we could not force it to fail. I'm sure if it ran for an hour it would.
At present if I have the MacBook in the living room (where the Livebox router is situated) its fine and wont drop connection. If I walk some 5m to my bedroom it will work for approximately half and hour and then lose it. A few days ago I bought the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed it last night. MacBook runs a hell of a lot faster (yay!) but moving it away from the router and its dead as disco in half an hour.
So to clarify, the MacBook has been tested on 4 wifi networks/ locus with same issue. iPhone, Xbox 360 and PS3 all have no issues with dropping connection no matter where they are in the apartment.
Apartment is a new build and its walls are not made out of lead or kryptonite. Is this a hardware issue rather than software? When updating to Snow Leopard it was an update to the existing OS of Leopard not a clean install.

it is possible to generate a good wifi signal with my new imac which will allow mw to connect to the net with my wifi ipad2?

I have the serial number xXAH
and want to determine if I will be able to load mountain lion.
At first i thought it must've been a hardware related thing but now it's happening on my new unibody MBP 17'' again too even though I hoped this issue would be fixed with SL.

It was given to me because the built in CRT came on purple every other start up Now it will not come on at all even though I can still hear the loud noise from the Degauss cable and the Power Supply and I feel the tube still throwing off alot of heat like a CRT does. I can get a picture on an external monitor as a mirror but not as a main monitor. So three questions is it safe to use this way with an external monitor and the built in CRT still attached? and how would I go about disconnecting the Built in CRT?, is there any way to fix this? Currently the HDD is blank as thats the way it was given to me but I was also given the restore DVD of OSX 10.4 from another Mac.
What would be the proper step-by-step instruction to setup an ftp server using the built-in feature in OSX 10.5.6, so the user is locked into a specific folder only, and obviously to make it as secure as possible? Also what if you want to have multiple users, and/or different ports (instead of default 21)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI looked in the Sounds preference pane in System Preferences, but there is no option to override this. I want the computer to use the built-in mic on my MacBook Pro, but I want to be able to use my headphones (which have a built in microphone). I have to hold the mic up to my mouth practically, but with the built in mic I don't have to. I have played with the input volume in System Preferences for each option; still doesn't work how I like it. This is for video chat in iChat.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes this exist? I want a device which lets me plug multiple hard drives into it so it can act like a hub, but which also allows me to access any of the drives over the network when I want to. A NAS wouldn't work because I want the ability to remove the drive without having to put it in another enclosure etc. I'd rather just swap it and go. So basically, it's like a usb hub, except you can choose whether you want to use usb to access everything connected to it OR you can choose to use ethernet. Would this work [URL] if I have up the ability to have multiple drives
and just put everything on that?
i was on a voicechatting site and people keep saying my Mic is bad. Is MacBook Pro mic really that much worse than the things they sell at stores?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have my 15" flat panel connected to a Topfield 7160 PVR by an ethernet cable. The Topfield has a built-in FTP server. So, using the built-in FTP (read only) facility in OS X Tiger, I can show the Topfield files on the Finder.
Recently, however, the FTP facility has not been accessing all folders on the Topfield properly. Some folders are shown as empty when they are not. When I disconnect and reconnect, different folders are shown as empty.I have tested the Topfield FTP server with the Cyberduck client. Everything shows properly. So, there is an issue with the OSX Tiger FTP client and/or how it sends commands to the Topfield FTP server.

For my job I have to VPN into our server--primarily to run RDC, but also to manage the Macs on the network (the company that set up the VPN provides the service for the PCs). When VPNing in on a Windows machine (and in Parallels), the connection is solid--no freezing whatsoever. Using Tiger's built-in VPN client, however, is frustrating as hell. It invariably hangs or times out if I leave it idle for between 15 seconds to a minute.
When it hangs I can usually disconnect and then reconnect again immediately (althugh it will remain as flaky as ever). I do not yet know all the details of the VPN on the server (a Windows 2003 server machine). I have a call in to the support company and am waiting for a response. In the meantime, however, I was wondering if others have tackled this problem with any success.
For my mac Pro? It would help me out a lot. Any way it could work?
