Just want to record voice with my built in iMac microphone...guidance? Eventual goal is to use audio voice track for FCE, but want to lay down an audio track for a placeholder to measure length (time) and make some queues. Garage Band or something else.

I just got my new 2009 15" MacBook Pro. I have installed Vista and loaded my Boot Camp drivers. I am trying to use the built in microphone (in the left speaker) for Skype. It appears in the Sound menu in the control panel as a working audio input and sound recorder works perfectly as well. However, whenever I select the microphone in Skype, there is no sound. The mic comes up as a Cirrus Logic CS4206A(AB75) device. Again sound recorder is fine, its just Skype that won't get any input from the mic. I also tried this earlier in Windows 7 RC1 64 bit with no luck. Does anyone know how to use Skype in Boot Camp with the new MacBook Pro hardware?

I tried recording a video and it worked, when I played it back it had no sound at all. I already tried going to system preferences and changing it to built-in microphone. I also reset the PRAM. I don't know what else to do!!
It has the version 10.6.8 installed, I don't know if that has anything to do with the mic not working.

I have a hard time with skype conversation and rosetta stone speech recognition. Since I started using Rosetta Stone 3.4.5, People i'm talking with on skype complains that they don't hear me well, everything was fine untill I installed this software. The microphone doesn't emit as much volume as it should be and I believe rosetta stone is responsible for the differences in output volume.Â
I tested the microphone in garage band and I don't hear my voice normaly unless I start shouting out loud.Â
Or maybe the built-in microphone is too old and it's not working as good as it was before ?Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a $2000 27 Inch Imac and a few weeks later the microphone quit working and Apple is ignoring the problem and will not stand behind this new imac, anyone else having the same problem. I talked to a repair guy who said you can expect problems from an Imac because all of its parts are cheap made in china, he has encountered a lot of issues with the new Imacs.

Whenever I try and facetime or record something the microphone isn't picking up anything but I have a look on system preferences and sound and the microphone is working perfectly but not when I try to do something else!

My external mike (Samson C01U, USB connection) isn't working; there's no input sound coming through. I'm certain it's not a hardware problem with the mike On preferences > sound, there's no sign of any input (with input volume level turned right up). Trying to record on Camtasia / Audacity / Quicktime also isn't giving any input.

I want to know if anyone can point out the advantages and disadvantages of using a line-in microphone (for the 1/8" analog jack) compared to a USB microphone for a Mac Pro. Do I need some kind of amplification for a head-set microphone with a 1/8 analog jack? I can't get mine to work, but I wonder if there's something I haven't selected correctly in my Preferences.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know this may sound very elementary but there was no documentation with my Mac when I bought it new (except a thin flimsy pamphlet with very basic stuff in it) and the support menu comes up with nothing at all when I search for webcam, webcam or isight. Where do I go to learn about how to use the built-in camera/webcam as a camera and also as a webcam?

how you can call people from Skypeâ„¢ with no microphone, but only from speakers? My friend wants to know this, he apparently wants to use some soundboard, and if you call from your speakers, the person you are calling can only hear the soundboard but nothing else like background noise or anything.Â
He's been bugging me to find this out, lol. He has a MacBook Pro 15" OS X Lion.

My iMac's built-in bluetooth suddenly stopped working. Can I troubleshoot or replace it? It is an early 2008 Intel iMac. Suddenly the Bluetooth logo changed to the one with the jagged line through it. Bluetooth no longer shows in System Prefs. In the hardware list under Bluetooth it now says, No information found.

I can't find a way to use the microphone on my mac. I want tobe able to use it like Garage Band, since that app is taking forever to load each time I record, so if anyone knows where to find the microphone/recording on a macbook,
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get my microphone to work. On the system preferences> sound> input screen, I am "line-in", with volume up, and inserting the jack registers on the volume meter of little blue bars with a spike up, but no speech through the microphone is registering.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo the other day I booted up into OS X and was going to make a short video in Photo Booth with my friend. I recorded a video, but when I tried to play it back there was no sound. I tried recording another video, this time yelling at the top of my lungs. This time when I played it back, I could hear my yelling very faintly. I decided to open up the System Preferences to see if the microphone was picking up any sound. The input level showed that there was a little bit of static, but the bar barely moved when I yelled. I opened up Skype and called "echo123" to see if Skype was picking up and sound. After the call recorded my sound, it played it back and to my surprise it sounded perfect.
It was like my microphone didn't have a single problem. I then opened up Photo Booth again and the System Preferences to see if it would pick up and sound from my microphone. And once again it would only barely pick up sound when I was yelling. After a few minutes, I finally decided I'd take my MacBook to the Apple Store. But before that, I decided I'd just try a little trick that worked on my iPod earbuds when one of them wasn't working correctly. I flicked my finger against the plastic right next to where the microphone is above the screen. I opened up System Preferences and to my amazement my microphone was now working perfectly!
I can't get my new mac pro to recognise either a headset with a mic attached, or a standard PC microphone, both under Leopard and Bootcamp/Vista.

Photo Booth doesn't seem to be detecting my microphone at all, because when I play the clip i recorded, there is no sound. My speakers are on, trust me.
Also, other audio recording applications, such as Screenflow and Audacity are able to pick up the microphone easily.
I've ran the application with nothing else running and get the same result.
I have a microphone I like a lot, but it gets very low levels on my Mac via Line In (even when the input volume is turned up all the way). Is there some kind of audio input driver I could download to add more gain OS X allows (rather than the obvious hardware amp or something)?

Mic doesn't seem to work at all. On Skype or on Sound Recorder that comes with Windows XP. I have done a lot of searches on the net and tried a lot of advice offered including some from this forum - reinstall driver, tick boxes, until boxes, scale up, etc. Its a 2008 iMac with XP SP3 installed on Snow Leopard. the driver is from Realtek. I have an important meeting to do on skype while having to run Windows application.
