View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an out-of-warranty 2005 iMac G5 running OS X 10.5 in my bedroom. The screen is very unreliable to the point where it stayed off all the time or gave weird colors and I had to purchase an external monitor (via mini-VGA). I have installed (successfully) spanning tools to allow both extended desktop (2 dual monitors) and mirrored display (2 monitors showing same thing).
However, after hooking up the external display, the iMac's bright display lights up my bedroom. I want to turn OFF my built-in display (i.e. no backlight) and have my external monitor act as my main display --- avoids having two displays eating electricity. Is this possible? (using any Terminal commands?) I don't want the computer to sleep, just to turn off the main display (even manually removing wires will work, if I can find a how-to guide on this!)
so what is the easiest way to record video using the in built iSight? do you get any control over the file format? yes i did search -

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been looking around all afternoon and can't seem to find out how to get the built-in iSight on the new 15 inch April 2010 MacBook Pros to take pictures and record at 1280 by 1024.
I've seen numerous places link me to Mac Daddy World, but that test app is only yielding 640 by 480.
Many places have also recommended to use Quartz Composer, but my knowledge of the program is limited, and I was still only able to get a 640 by 480 stream.
After years of using Sony hdr500 video cam, iMovie stopped recognizing it and then stopped recognizing the built in iSight cam as well. Now photo booth does not see it either. I have restarted the computer to reset SMC and that did not resolve the problem.

i bought a new alum. macbook about 3 weeks ago and so far i love it, but suddenly my isight camera isn't recognized in anything, and it doesn't light up? What could be wrong?
I tried in ichat and in photobooth
I have an iMac 21.5" Late 2009 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo 2. OS X 10.9.4. All of a sudden my iSight is no longer recognized. There is no open application using it. It does not show up in the System Profilier.
Some people suggest to zap the PRAM but I can't even get my computer to do that. It only chimes once and then stars up normally even though I am holding down the option/command/P/R keys.
I have an external iSight Web camera and want to use it with an iMac with a built in iSight camera. Can I disable the built in iSight camera and instead use the external camera?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just got the 2.53 GHz 15.4" MacBook Pro, and I had the Windows 7 RC laying around so I partitioned the drive and installed it. It's running great, I really like it, but here's my problem. Windows and all applications can see the iSight camera, but not the Microphone. If I go into the Sound control panel and click on the Recording tab, the microphone is there, and when I say something I can see that Windows DOES see it, but no other application shows it. I have all the Boot Camp drivers installed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my new 2009 15" MacBook Pro. I have installed Vista and loaded my Boot Camp drivers. I am trying to use the built in microphone (in the left speaker) for Skype. It appears in the Sound menu in the control panel as a working audio input and sound recorder works perfectly as well. However, whenever I select the microphone in Skype, there is no sound. The mic comes up as a Cirrus Logic CS4206A(AB75) device. Again sound recorder is fine, its just Skype that won't get any input from the mic. I also tried this earlier in Windows 7 RC1 64 bit with no luck. Does anyone know how to use Skype in Boot Camp with the new MacBook Pro hardware?

I have an iMac with Windows 7 running via bootcamp. As I understand it, I should be able to use my iMac's built in iSight camera in Windows but I do not see any application installed that will allow me to use it. I ran the bootcamp drivers from my Leopard disc and then did the update from Apple's support site. Am I missing something to get it working?

I' finally getting around to boot-camping my last generation Mac Mini running Leopard. I got the partition created just fine and the XP disc booted just fine. Now for the problem: When I'm giventhe option to install, repair, or quit Windows XP Set-up, I can't select anything. My keyboard, an Apple Wired USB Aluminum, isn't recognized.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have installed windows XP on my Mac Pro and am trying to connect to the internet through a wired connection, which works just fine on OSX.
When I go into device manager, it doesnt even register that I have a way of connecting to the internet.
After letting Windows 7 install (with empty, unpartitioned space) it created a 100MB recovery partition (WinRE) which seemed okay. But I can't mount the NTFS partition in OS X now. It fails to recognize it. It sees the unrecognizable WinRE partition and seems to not look any further (that's my guess, at least).
Picture attached from Disk Utility of the space that SHOULD contain TWO separate partitions. One for WinRE, the other an NTFS partition for Windows 7.
I recently bought the following: LG WH08LS20 Blu-Ray Disc Rewriter. I have a Mac Pro and installed it. The Mac OS recognizes it just fine. However, the Windows 7 partition does not. I looked and looked for drivers but couldn't find anything.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I bought that LG HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive for my Mac Pro. I used the extra SATA ports near the fan to install it, and it works great while using OSX, but it won't work in Windows.
I read somewhere about enabling AHCI or something like that in Windows so it can recognize the spare SATA port, and therefore recognize the Blu-Ray drive, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me.
It's awful confusing...
I want to be able to rip my Blu-Ray movies onto my computer to pop them onto the tv, but the only hurdle is having Windows recognize the drive. Any help at all would be very appreciated.
