Hardware :: Use Built In Mic Instead Of Headphone Mic?

Apr 18, 2010

I looked in the Sounds preference pane in System Preferences, but there is no option to override this. I want the computer to use the built-in mic on my MacBook Pro, but I want to be able to use my headphones (which have a built in microphone). I have to hold the mic up to my mouth practically, but with the built in mic I don't have to. I have played with the input volume in System Preferences for each option; still doesn't work how I like it. This is for video chat in iChat.

PowerPC :: Disconnecting Built In CRT?

Nov 17, 2007

First of all here are are the Specs on it
Specs:
Blueberry Colored
iMac DV
PowerPC G3 400 MHZ
MAC OS 9.1
10GB HDD
512MB SD-RAM
10/100 NIC
56K Modem
4 X Slot load DVD-ROM Drive
two USB Ports
USB Keyboard/Hockey Puck mouse (Which I hate luckily any USB Mouse will work)
External VGA Port

It was given to me because the built in CRT came on purple every other start up Now it will not come on at all even though I can still hear the loud noise from the Degauss cable and the Power Supply and I feel the tube still throwing off alot of heat like a CRT does. I can get a picture on an external monitor as a mirror but not as a main monitor. So three questions is it safe to use this way with an external monitor and the built in CRT still attached? and how would I go about disconnecting the Built in CRT?, is there any way to fix this? Currently the HDD is blank as thats the way it was given to me but I was also given the restore DVD of OSX 10.4 from another Mac.

Hardware :: USB Hub With Built In Ethernet?

Apr 26, 2010

Does this exist? I want a device which lets me plug multiple hard drives into it so it can act like a hub, but which also allows me to access any of the drives over the network when I want to. A NAS wouldn't work because I want the ability to remove the drive without having to put it in another enclosure etc. I'd rather just swap it and go. So basically, it's like a usb hub, except you can choose whether you want to use usb to access everything connected to it OR you can choose to use ethernet. Would this work [URL] if I have up the ability to have multiple drives
and just put everything on that?

OS X V10.4 :: Built-in FTP Not Showing All Files

Apr 25, 2012

I have my 15" flat panel connected to a Topfield 7160 PVR by an ethernet cable. The Topfield has a built-in FTP server. So, using the built-in FTP (read only) facility in OS X Tiger, I can show the Topfield files on the Finder.

Recently, however, the FTP facility has not been accessing all folders on the Topfield properly. Some folders are shown as empty when they are not.  When I disconnect and reconnect, different folders are shown as empty.I have tested the Topfield FTP server with the Cyberduck client. Everything shows properly.  So, there is an issue with the OSX Tiger FTP client and/or how it sends commands to the Topfield FTP server.

MacBook Air :: 11.6 Headphone Minijack Impedance?

Oct 26, 2010

I am considering making the switch from PC to Mac, the desktop switch is easy, I would simply replace my Dell with an iMac, but I also need a portable computer (running OS-X not iOS) to replace my netbook. I will be using it for Internet access, light audio editing and streaming with Audacity, QuickTime and VLC (Ogg, FLAC, etc), some light spreadsheet work (I will switch to Numbers), heavy writing (I will switch to Pages), Sykpe, iCal, Mail, and Google Earth. I need to check the output of the headphone/lineout port, to see if it can drive the monitors that I use for linguistics. (16 Ohm Beyerdynamic DT100 and 24 Ohm Sony MDR-XB700). I have looked around but I cannot find any detailed specifications for the headphone/lineout on the MacBook Air 11.6, the Apple Technical Specifications simply list the port as "Headphone Minijack". If any of you have low impedance headphones with large drivers and could spare the time to plug them in and let me know what the volume is like.

PowerPC :: Headphone Out Broken - Replacement Possible?

Oct 10, 2006

Its been going for a while now and finally the right channel of audio has fully cut out from the headphone jack. This is a huge bummer. I mean the laptops 3 years old so its not to bad. I mean its taken a beating over the years. Its just that I use it to listen to music and audio out for watching dvds, so its no good for that anymore. I have an external audio card but thats no good for when I am mobile and I use the laptop all over the place. Is there a way to fix this or would it need a whole logic board replacement? Can I use a audio card that fits into those card slots on the left hand side of the Powerbook. What are those cards called again?

Mac Pro :: USB Audio Output Level For Ext. Headphone Amp?

Jan 17, 2009

I've got a Headroom Headphone Total Bithead mobile Amp., 2.66 MacPro, and Sennheiser HD650's (that are hard to drive). The amp. has a high and low gain switch. The low gain sounds better, but I can't get enough vol. when on low gain. I've got iTunes level up as high as it can go. I've played around with Sound prefs. and the Audio/Midi sound levels. They all seem to actually be the same vol. control.

I also see that iTunes, under "Get Info" has an individual vol. adjustment, but I'm not sure if I really want the sound files to be pumped up for when I use them on my iPhone.

MacBook Pro :: Headphone / Mic Jack Splitter

I've seen lots of solutions that have a built in mic but I was hoping that there's simply a splitter out there somewhere.

MacBook :: Headphone Jack Out Of Place

Jun 22, 2010

My 13" 4 year old macbook's headphone jack hasn't been working for the last week. I had been using a messed up cord (the adaptor part was bent) to plug it into speakers, and eventually it misplaced or bent something in the headphone jack. This is the important part, the headphone jack still works. If i put in headphones and push the headphone connector thing (sorry I don't know the word) forward (towards the screen) it recognizes and works. This leads me to believe the headphone jack has been knocked out of place or there is something bent in there. Is there any potential fix because I have a lot of plane flights coming up and don't want to be stuck with just the music on my iPod.
