OS X :: Any Application To Fade Windows Background
Jun 7, 2010
I'm having difficulties adapting to OSX. On windows, when you open Photoshop or Dreamweaver or any other application, ou can focus on that application only. On Mac, if you have the browser opened you can see it while in photoshop. I do web design and I never know whether I'm looking a print screen or the actual site. Can anyone recommend an app that "fades" the background so I can visually focus on the program being used? I tried Think, it works fine but with only one app at a time and I that to happen with all apps, as this is annoying for any software.
I was wondering if anybody out there may know why this is happening to my iCal dock icon. When the app is not running, the date on the icon is displaced by like 15px, then when it is launched, the date goes back to the correct position. Check it out:
So garageband now makes it very easy to make ringtones, but they sound stupid, when I make them because they end so abruptly.
How could I take the single track and have the music accelerate up in volume at the start, and down towards the end, so that it doesn't just start and end?
I make music videos, and I need to be able to fade-in or fade-out. Does anyone know a program with this feature? I need to be able to upload the video from my camera to the Mac and use the software to edit it.
I have it set to change every 30 minutes, and it does. However, instead of it doing the nice fade, it only changes. Not so pretty compared to the fade.
How do I do this? I want to launch app 2 while working in app 1 without having app 2 jump in front of app 1, but others, such as Microsoft Office Suite for mac, jump to the front every time (namely excel) no matter what.
I am trying to change the backgrounds in my windows from white to a picture, Ive followed the instructions but I haven't had any luck on making it work.
just ordered my first mac and should have it delivered in the next few days.Ive always admired them but never had the chance to use one properly. Is there anything I should know coming from a strong windows background before i dig in? The primary function is to do a bedroom music studio, starting off with garage band, then moving on to logic if i feel the need. apart from that itunes for my music collection + iPhone, iphoto for my photo collection and general web browsing/social networking.
I am wondering why some new windows that I open on my MacBook Pro only open BEHIND other active windows. For example, I will click on a link in Apple Mail and the new Safari window opens behind other ones that were already open, so I have to move the already opened-windows to get to the new window that opened when I clicked on the e-mail link.
I have problems closing other windows running on background. I tried to use cmd+option+w but it doesn't work. I really find this command useful when having several firefox pop-up windows open. Does someone knows what might be the problem? I'm using mac os x 10.6.4 on a macbook pro.
I really do hope they increase the differentiation between foreground and background windows in the next OS X release. Leopard was a big improvement, but I'm finding it hard to make the distinction lately. I would like to see some transparency in the background windows to help aid in the distinction.
I've got verry litle apps running but my amount off free ram aint that big , is this normal? I have 2 gb in total. also , is there a way to close that windows app running in the background? i dont even know what it does.
I have Snow Leopard and will soon have Windows 7 on my Macbook. Why are the Windows 7 wallpapers so much nicer than Leopard and SL's pack?
There are some good new ones in SL, but it's still not much. The W7 RTM ones are jaw-dropping and I quickly made it the default folder for my SL backgrounds. Is it a money issue or something?
I cant figure out how to change the background color of it in candybar. I'm sick of the standard grey mac color. When I'm in candybar I go to the dock section-->view-->dock-->preview background..the options under preview background are greyed out. Also when I am in the dock section-->view-->background-->change color. I try changing the color but it doesn't change. Am I doing something wrong..or what?
I have a Macbook Pro and I have been recently changing around my backgrounds including my login background. However, when I changed my background via command in the terminal by switching the defaultdesktop.jpg with another picture in the CoreServices folder, My picture does not show up on the login screen instead it is just a plain blue screen. Is there anyway to restore the original login background settings?because I actually found a program "loginox" that easily changes the login picture however, it will not open because it says I have changed the original background photo.
Snow leopard terminal preferences seems to only change the first terminal window opened. For example I have new windows set to open with 'pro' theme, only the first window does this. If I hit cmd-n for a new window, it's the basic theme with the default size. If anyone knows the commands i can throw in .bash_profile to change the bg color and size of window, please let me know, I guess that's the workaround.
I have a 27 in, 3.06 C2D iMac with a 4850 video card. Ever since I installed Windows 7 I have this pixelated background issue with every wallpaper I use. The wallpapers are from interfacelift and are the correct resolution (I've tried the stock wallpapers as well). I've updated the drivers from ATi, updated bootcamp to 3.1, and I can't for the life of me fix the problem.
If I use the arrow-key shortcut (no matter how they are setup in Systems Preferences) whilst holding an App's title-bar, to switch it between spaces, the HUD showing which Space the app has been moved to only shows up sporadically. I've tried changing Spaces settings, turning it on and off, restarted etc. and it still does it. If I use the number key shortcuts it displays fine now matter how quickly I move an app between spaces. If I use the drag method it's also fine... but you can only do that slowly.
If I use the titlebar & arrow keys method very slowly and wait for the HUD to fade out before switching to another space its fine. (i.e move from 1 to 2, HUD shows, wait until it fades out, then move it to space 4, HUD shows). But if I flick an app between spaces quickly the HUD only shows sporadically after the first switch. Sometimes the desktop image will flicker in front of everything for a fraction of a second. I have an Alu MacBook and I can achieve these results after a restart with only the Finder running.
Odd this, Harmon Kardon isub worked fine on reconnecting after Snow Leopard upgrade, that is to 10.6 then 10.6.1 then maybe a day or two later for no reason they started to cut out and now I get total feedback or a high pitched whine when computer starts up.
I'm creating audio fade in and out transitions on my voiceovers. I want them all to fade from -3dB. Is there a easier way to apply this on every audio track without applying it manually / one-by-one?
I tried selecting them all and change it in the inspector, but it did not work. As in, it did not have any effect.
I recently had issues regarding my display (June 2009 MBP 17") not dimming as the ambient lighting changed. The issue was only recent. I reset the SMC, and that has appeared to fix it.
However, I've noticed that the battery indicator lights do not fade after 5 seconds anymore and just turn straight off when the computer is open and on. When shut down or asleep, they behave as normal.
I reset the SMC again to ty and fix this but there was no change.
Now, I could be wrong, and maybe that's how it always was, but I do remember them fading no matter whether the computer was active or off.
Can anyone confirm this and if so, provide any possible fixes?
It's not a huge issue, just a minor annoyance now that I'm aware of it.
Is there a way in Indesign to have a gradient fade to 0%? I can't figure out how to do it. I could do it in Photoshop i guess, but there should be a way to do it.
how to make a window appear and disappear with either a fade or a slide effect. Its a simple script below which I would like to do this to. set appName to "EZeye" tell application "System Events" if frontmost of process appName then set visible of process appName to false else set visible of process appName to true end if end tell.
I am having problems with Leopard and my R800. The print outs are faded and I am unable to select my manual feed to print CD's. Does anyone know of a fix?
