Is there a way in Indesign to have a gradient fade to 0%? I can't figure out how to do it. I could do it in Photoshop i guess, but there should be a way to do it.
View 3 RepliesSo garageband now makes it very easy to make ringtones, but they sound stupid, when I make them because they end so abruptly.
How could I take the single track and have the music accelerate up in volume at the start, and down towards the end, so that it doesn't just start and end?
I make music videos, and I need to be able to fade-in or fade-out. Does anyone know a program with this feature? I need to be able to upload the video from my camera to the Mac and use the software to edit it.

I have it set to change every 30 minutes, and it does. However, instead of it doing the nice fade, it only changes. Not so pretty compared to the fade.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAt a random time months ago (I cant pinpoint what triggered it) certain windows started to make themselves half-opaque when inactive. They seem to be "cocoa" applications (though I'm not sure the exact definition of that). The windows that are effected are: Skype v2.8.0 (chat windows only, not main 'buddy list') iMovie / iPhoto... I think there are more, I can't figure out which though. I'll update. The windows that are (surprisingly) NOT effected are: Windows Live Messenger v7.0.2

I have the program named "Afloat" and it seems to be inconsequential to the problem.
My mac with the full version is in the shop and I need to do some work on a project done in InDesign CS3 on another Mac. I'm not having any luck finding a trial version of it anywhere.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy version of InDesign CS4, will always crash after sleeping, especially when I have files open from a server volume. I've turned off the sleep hard disks when possible option in sys prefs.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on in the attached image below? This is how a PDF file exported from InDesign is printing. It is not displaying like this at all on the screen. The frame around the photo is an EPS file layered on top of the photo. It views fine, and prints fine except for 2 photos.
All the photos print fine, except for 2 of them which have these odd triangles on them. The image is a scan of the printed file. Again, it does not appear when I view the PDF on screen, only when it's printed. If I remove the border/EPS, it will print fine. But I'd like to use the border, so I'd like to know what the problem is.
if there was another program available for mac that preformed a similar function to that of Adobe Indesign CS3? I have heard of a program called Swift Publisher, but that does not seem to suit my needs fully. Pages also seems to be a tad too simple for what I intend it to be. So, to restate, is there a program which performs a similar function to that of Adobe Indesign?
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since our design studio upgraded to InDesign CS4, some of our machines are now VERY slow to open documents (it takes documents approx. 7�13 times longer to open). Also, just using InDesign seems much slower than CS3 (like dragging things, typing, etc.).
The funny thing is this problem only seems to affect our designers who have PowerPC G5 Macs � not the ones with Intel Macs. I realise CS4 will be optimised for Intel machines, but surely it shouldn't be this much slower on G5s?
I need to make same technical documents but I'd like to create a good layout for them, not a simple "blank and white" document so I'm looking for an application let us say between Ms Word and Adobe InDesign. Can anyone suggest me an application? I have tried Swift Publisher but it misses some basic features such a spell checker.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've bought my 1st Macbook and its been about 3 weeks, its great and love it but I'm starting to see weird banding or color issues when viewing photos. Mainly when viewing black and white photos and even color. This seemed to have happened after I was trying to calibrate my screen using the Pantone Huey. Is this a limitation of the screen or do I have a defect?

View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen 10.5 was released they were quite transparent and the look matched the transparent menubar. It was a nice visual flow. Then 10.5.1 came out and they went to almost opaque (apparently they are still SLIGHTLY transparent but at something like 95% its more or less impossible to tell).
Some apps, (compressor comes to mind) still have these transparent menu drop-downs and I think its a very good look, especially with the transparent menubar (again, visual flow is nice).
I have recently switched back to OSX with the new i7 MBP. I was wondering if there is any way to adjust the transparency of the menu bar? I like the transparency, I would just like to make it a tad more opaque. Is there a way?

I was wondering if there was a quicker way to customize the dictionary than telling the spell check to learn the words as I go. EG add one huge text file to the dictionary with all the words or something.
Well I've gone through a plethora of threads about the leopard menu bar's translucency being annoying, I have yet to find a way to actually make it MORE transparent, so I figured I'll register here and ask away. I'm currently working under Mac OS X 10.5.5, and am working on creating a vector graphics theme of sorts (akin to BattleZone in the 80's) and ran into a snag. What I want to do is take the menu bar on top of the screen and turn it solid green without tinting the text to match the rest of my desktop's theme. Alternatively, making the bar completely black with green text is another option, if possible.
I've so far used LeoColorBar, Leopaque, and Palette, which all can tint the bar, but not make it a solid green. What I want to know is if I can make the menu bar 100% transparent, but keep the text on it visible, allowing me to use LeoColorBar to effectively create a green menu bar, while using Palette to make the menus opaque when dropped down. Here's where I'm currently at in terms of theme, complete with Battlezone background and vector docks through DragThing. How terminal commands that could work, or claims of my insanity for being "that guy who wants that transparent bar harder to see", drop me a reply.
Recently my iMac had been experiencing problems, I took apart and checked everything and put back together. Problems were gone but the screen suddenly started gradienting from brighter on the top to darker on the bottom. Brightness overall is also lower now.
My question is what can be creating this? The black tape that was around was ripped, I've heard it's creating static isolation, can that be it? Also I possibly pulled power cord too hard, can it be possible that display is not getting enough power?
I remember seeing a screenshot of Leopard where the terminal was transparent, as well as blurred (like the menubar). This would greatly help readability, especially on certain backgrounds, but I can't figure out how to do it. Is this a feature of the new Terminal?

I find no way to turn this feature off..

How to view two clips at the same time with 50 % transparent each (end of one clip and the starting of the next clip in time line) so that one overlapping the other, both can be seen. This is to merge two clips, so that I can stop at the correct frame of the first clip and start at the appropriate frame of the next clip.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I use the arrow-key shortcut (no matter how they are setup in Systems Preferences) whilst holding an App's title-bar, to switch it between spaces, the HUD showing which Space the app has been moved to only shows up sporadically. I've tried changing Spaces settings, turning it on and off, restarted etc. and it still does it. If I use the number key shortcuts it displays fine now matter how quickly I move an app between spaces. If I use the drag method it's also fine... but you can only do that slowly.
If I use the titlebar & arrow keys method very slowly and wait for the HUD to fade out before switching to another space its fine. (i.e move from 1 to 2, HUD shows, wait until it fades out, then move it to space 4, HUD shows). But if I flick an app between spaces quickly the HUD only shows sporadically after the first switch. Sometimes the desktop image will flicker in front of everything for a fraction of a second. I have an Alu MacBook and I can achieve these results after a restart with only the Finder running.
Odd this, Harmon Kardon isub worked fine on reconnecting after Snow Leopard upgrade, that is to 10.6 then 10.6.1 then maybe a day or two later for no reason they started to cut out and now I get total feedback or a high pitched whine when computer starts up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having difficulties adapting to OSX. On windows, when you open Photoshop or Dreamweaver or any other application, ou can focus on that application only. On Mac, if you have the browser opened you can see it while in photoshop. I do web design and I never know whether I'm looking a print screen or the actual site. Can anyone recommend an app that "fades" the background so I can visually focus on the program being used? I tried Think, it works fine but with only one app at a time and I that to happen with all apps, as this is annoying for any software.

I'm creating audio fade in and out transitions on my voiceovers. I want them all to fade from -3dB. Is there a easier way to apply this on every audio track without applying it manually / one-by-one?
I tried selecting them all and change it in the inspector, but it did not work. As in, it did not have any effect.
