View 3 RepliesI need a transparent hand print (different colors also) for a project. I've gotten a hand print and used a guide to try and make it transparent using Gimp but I can never export it.
I just need a simple program (I have Paintbrush, Gimp, etc) in order to make things transparent!
i have returned my dock back to 2d, but it has a transparent background??? I don't want that, I simply want the black background with the 2d dock, how would i get that ?? like so...http://reo-2007.deviantart.com/art/L...Style-69915653
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the background on some Aliases and folders I created on my desktop. I downloaded some icons in .ico and .png format online, and I am able to use the .png format. I open up the .png file, ctrl-c it, then goto the Alias or Folder I want to change the icon on. I do a "Get Info", then I click on the icon at the top and do a ctrl-v. This changes the icon, but it puts a White background behind the icon. See the screenshot below to see what I am talking about. Screenshot of resulting icon on desktop. Site where I downloaded the icons:

I am soon to be getting a MacBook Pro in about a month. Since I have always used PC's, although I am very excited, I am trying to gather all information possible to make the switch easy and be productive on the the new MacBook. I have a simple question, I know on windows when you have many things running at one time it tends to bog and slow down. Running things in the background are the issues I am getting at. Does running application and widgets in the background of a MacBook cause them to slow noticeably?

Since I have upgraded to Yosemite, I've been experiencing problems with the windows. Sometimes, they become transparent or even entirely invisible, I can see the borders when I pass over them with the mouse on mission control and I can perform actions as if they were fully functional, I just can't see them. How can I solve this? It happens with every window open at the moment, but it doesn't affect the ones that I open after.
The image shows how the window become sometimes, other times it's completely invisible.

View 6 Replies View Relatedjust ordered my first mac and should have it delivered in the next few days.Ive always admired them but never had the chance to use one properly. Is there anything I should know coming from a strong windows background before i dig in? The primary function is to do a bedroom music studio, starting off with garage band, then moving on to logic if i feel the need. apart from that itunes for my music collection + iPhone, iphoto for my photo collection and general web browsing/social networking.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI am wondering why some new windows that I open on my MacBook Pro only open BEHIND other active windows. For example, I will click on a link in Apple Mail and the new Safari window opens behind other ones that were already open, so I have to move the already opened-windows to get to the new window that opened when I clicked on the e-mail link.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have problems closing other windows running on background. I tried to use cmd+option+w but it doesn't work. I really find this command useful when having several firefox pop-up windows open. Does someone knows what might be the problem? I'm using mac os x 10.6.4 on a macbook pro.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI really do hope they increase the differentiation between foreground and background windows in the next OS X release. Leopard was a big improvement, but I'm finding it hard to make the distinction lately. I would like to see some transparency in the background windows to help aid in the distinction.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having difficulties adapting to OSX. On windows, when you open Photoshop or Dreamweaver or any other application, ou can focus on that application only. On Mac, if you have the browser opened you can see it while in photoshop. I do web design and I never know whether I'm looking a print screen or the actual site. Can anyone recommend an app that "fades" the background so I can visually focus on the program being used? I tried Think, it works fine but with only one app at a time and I that to happen with all apps, as this is annoying for any software.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Snow Leopard and will soon have Windows 7 on my Macbook. Why are the Windows 7 wallpapers so much nicer than Leopard and SL's pack?
There are some good new ones in SL, but it's still not much. The W7 RTM ones are jaw-dropping and I quickly made it the default folder for my SL backgrounds. Is it a money issue or something?

I cant figure out how to change the background color of it in candybar. I'm sick of the standard grey mac color. When I'm in candybar I go to the dock section-->view-->dock-->preview background..the options under preview background are greyed out. Also when I am in the dock section-->view-->background-->change color. I try changing the color but it doesn't change. Am I doing something wrong..or what?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro and I have been recently changing around my backgrounds including my login background. However, when I changed my background via command in the terminal by switching the defaultdesktop.jpg with another picture in the CoreServices folder, My picture does not show up on the login screen instead it is just a plain blue screen. Is there anyway to restore the original login background settings?because I actually found a program "loginox" that easily changes the login picture however, it will not open because it says I have changed the original background photo.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSnow leopard terminal preferences seems to only change the first terminal window opened. For example I have new windows set to open with 'pro' theme, only the first window does this. If I hit cmd-n for a new window, it's the basic theme with the default size. If anyone knows the commands i can throw in .bash_profile to change the bg color and size of window, please let me know, I guess that's the workaround.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 27 in, 3.06 C2D iMac with a 4850 video card. Ever since I installed Windows 7 I have this pixelated background issue with every wallpaper I use. The wallpapers are from interfacelift and are the correct resolution (I've tried the stock wallpapers as well). I've updated the drivers from ATi, updated bootcamp to 3.1, and I can't for the life of me fix the problem.

I'm planning to start my own internet business, selling bulletin board skins for several different forum software. However, I'm a PC user whilst a quarter of my customers will be using Mac's. I understand that Mac users won't be able to see the files they purchase through my web site as Mac's make certain files invisible. I have read a guide on CNET to make files visible on Mac's [URL], however, the guide is only for Mac users, as I have stated before I am a PC user. My question is, is there a possible way to make visible files for Mac's via a PC? I'm currently using Windows XP Home Edition SP3.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to these forums because I am considering making the switch from HP to Mac. I am sick and tired of having to buy a new computer every 2 years (if I"m lucky) because mine gets a virus or whatever (and I have a virus scan thing). My desktop computer loses the internet ALL THE TIME, but I admit that if I used my laptop, which is at school, then I probably wouldn't lose the signal. what do you like most about your MacBook? Has anyone else made the transition from Windows to Mac. I use Mac sometimes at school, and I find it kind of confusing, haha. I figure it probably just takes some getting used to.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone knew how to make a WinXp installtion cd on a macbook. The family computer is a PC and it wont boot up and we cannot find the installation disc. I know I can download it of the windows website but its a .exe file.
I was wondering if there was anyway to download it onto a macbook (only other working computer in the house), and save it onto a Cd Rom to then use to start up the PC?
I need to put a windows partition on my iMac downstairs instead of this macbook because I need to use the graphics card for PS and some games, but my parents won't let me. So morals aside, is there a way for me to make a hidden partition on bootcamp? Like make it so the only way you can know it's there is if you went to disk utility, or to hold option at start up? I would need to hard it on all accounts of the computer.
