OS X :: Making An Image Transparent/exporting A Transparent Image?
Feb 19, 2010I need a transparent hand print (different colors also) for a project. I've gotten a hand print and used a guide to try and make it transparent using Gimp but I can never export it.
I just need a simple program (I have Paintbrush, Gimp, etc) in order to make things transparent!

Oct 8, 2007I am trying to change the background on some Aliases and folders I created on my desktop. I downloaded some icons in .ico and .png format online, and I am able to use the .png format. I open up the .png file, ctrl-c it, then goto the Alias or Folder I want to change the icon on. I do a "Get Info", then I click on the icon at the top and do a ctrl-v. This changes the icon, but it puts a White background behind the icon. See the screenshot below to see what I am talking about. Screenshot of resulting icon on desktop. May 2, 2010I am soon to be getting a MacBook Pro in about a month. Since I have always used PC's, although I am very excited, I am trying to gather all information possible to make the switch easy and be productive on the the new MacBook. I have a simple question, I know on windows when you have many things running at one time it tends to bog and slow down. Running things in the background are the issues I am getting at. Does running application and widgets in the background of a MacBook cause them to slow noticeably?

OS X Yosemite :: Windows Become Transparent Or Even Entirely Invisible
Dec 3, 2014Since I have upgraded to Yosemite, I've been experiencing problems with the windows. Sometimes, they become transparent or even entirely invisible, I can see the borders when I pass over them with the mouse on mission control and I can perform actions as if they were fully functional, I just can't see them. How can I solve this? It happens with every window open at the moment, but it doesn't affect the ones that I open after.
The image shows how the window become sometimes, other times it's completely invisible.

Jun 7, 2010I'm having difficulties adapting to OSX. On windows, when you open Photoshop or Dreamweaver or any other application, ou can focus on that application only. On Mac, if you have the browser opened you can see it while in photoshop. I do web design and I never know whether I'm looking a print screen or the actual site. Can anyone recommend an app that "fades" the background so I can visually focus on the program being used? I tried Think, it works fine but with only one app at a time and I that to happen with all apps, as this is annoying for any software.

Oct 5, 2009I have Snow Leopard and will soon have Windows 7 on my Macbook. Why are the Windows 7 wallpapers so much nicer than Leopard and SL's pack?
There are some good new ones in SL, but it's still not much. The W7 RTM ones are jaw-dropping and I quickly made it the default folder for my SL backgrounds. Is it a money issue or something?

Jun 11, 2010I cant figure out how to change the background color of it in candybar. I'm sick of the standard grey mac color.When I'm in candybar I go to the dock section-->view-->dock-->preview background..the options under preview background are greyed out. Also when I am in the dock section-->view-->background-->change color. I try changing the color but it doesn't change. Am I doing something wrong..or what?

Nov 18, 2009Snow leopard terminal preferences seems to only change the first terminal window opened. For example I have new windows set to open with 'pro' theme, only the first window does this. If I hit cmd-n for a new window, it's the basic theme with the default size. If anyone knows the commands i can throw in .bash_profile to change the bg color and size of window, please let me know, I guess that's the workaround.

The wallpapers are from interfacelift and are the correct resolution (I've tried the stock wallpapers as well). I've updated the drivers from ATi, updated bootcamp to 3.1, and I can't for the life of me fix the problem.

However, I'm a PC user whilst a quarter of my customers will be using Mac's. I understand that Mac users won't be able to see the files they purchase through my web site as Mac's make certain files invisible. I have read a guide on CNET to make files visible on Mac's [URL], however, the guide is only for Mac users, as I have stated before I am a PC user. My question is, is there a possible way to make visible files for Mac's via a PC? I'm currently using Windows XP Home Edition SP3.

I am sick and tired of having to buy a new computer every 2 years (if I"m lucky) because mine gets a virus or whatever (and I have a virus scan thing). My desktop computer loses the internet ALL THE TIME, but I admit that if I used my laptop, which is at school, then I probably wouldn't lose the signal. what do you like most about your MacBook? Apr 13, 2009I need to put a windows partition on my iMac downstairs instead of this macbook because I need to use the graphics card for PS and some games, but my parents won't let me. So morals aside, is there a way for me to make a hidden partition on bootcamp? Like make it so the only way you can know it's there is if you went to disk utility, or to hold option at start up? I would need to hard it on all accounts of the computer.
