View 3 RepliesSo garageband now makes it very easy to make ringtones, but they sound stupid, when I make them because they end so abruptly.
How could I take the single track and have the music accelerate up in volume at the start, and down towards the end, so that it doesn't just start and end?
I make music videos, and I need to be able to fade-in or fade-out. Does anyone know a program with this feature? I need to be able to upload the video from my camera to the Mac and use the software to edit it.

I have it set to change every 30 minutes, and it does. However, instead of it doing the nice fade, it only changes. Not so pretty compared to the fade.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I use the arrow-key shortcut (no matter how they are setup in Systems Preferences) whilst holding an App's title-bar, to switch it between spaces, the HUD showing which Space the app has been moved to only shows up sporadically. I've tried changing Spaces settings, turning it on and off, restarted etc. and it still does it. If I use the number key shortcuts it displays fine now matter how quickly I move an app between spaces. If I use the drag method it's also fine... but you can only do that slowly.
If I use the titlebar & arrow keys method very slowly and wait for the HUD to fade out before switching to another space its fine. (i.e move from 1 to 2, HUD shows, wait until it fades out, then move it to space 4, HUD shows). But if I flick an app between spaces quickly the HUD only shows sporadically after the first switch. Sometimes the desktop image will flicker in front of everything for a fraction of a second. I have an Alu MacBook and I can achieve these results after a restart with only the Finder running.
Odd this, Harmon Kardon isub worked fine on reconnecting after Snow Leopard upgrade, that is to 10.6 then 10.6.1 then maybe a day or two later for no reason they started to cut out and now I get total feedback or a high pitched whine when computer starts up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having difficulties adapting to OSX. On windows, when you open Photoshop or Dreamweaver or any other application, ou can focus on that application only. On Mac, if you have the browser opened you can see it while in photoshop. I do web design and I never know whether I'm looking a print screen or the actual site. Can anyone recommend an app that "fades" the background so I can visually focus on the program being used? I tried Think, it works fine but with only one app at a time and I that to happen with all apps, as this is annoying for any software.

I'm creating audio fade in and out transitions on my voiceovers. I want them all to fade from -3dB. Is there a easier way to apply this on every audio track without applying it manually / one-by-one?
I tried selecting them all and change it in the inspector, but it did not work. As in, it did not have any effect.
I recently had issues regarding my display (June 2009 MBP 17") not dimming as the ambient lighting changed. The issue was only recent. I reset the SMC, and that has appeared to fix it.
However, I've noticed that the battery indicator lights do not fade after 5 seconds anymore and just turn straight off when the computer is open and on. When shut down or asleep, they behave as normal.
I reset the SMC again to ty and fix this but there was no change.
Now, I could be wrong, and maybe that's how it always was, but I do remember them fading no matter whether the computer was active or off.
Can anyone confirm this and if so, provide any possible fixes?
It's not a huge issue, just a minor annoyance now that I'm aware of it.
Is there a way in Indesign to have a gradient fade to 0%? I can't figure out how to do it. I could do it in Photoshop i guess, but there should be a way to do it.

I was wondering if anybody out there may know why this is happening to my iCal dock icon. When the app is not running, the date on the icon is displaced by like 15px, then when it is launched, the date goes back to the correct position. Check it out:
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night I was browsing on YouTube with the missus on the MacBook, just music videos etc.
We started getting these odd pop-up messages, like "click here to see me tortured" or "click here - I really am only 10 years old". There were two or three and were quite disturbing. Missus said to click to find out what they were. I said no way, closed down the computer and started it up again. They did not appear again.
Is there a way to disable mouse acceleration in OS X like there is in Windows, hopefully without resorting to a third party program?
possibly on an application to application basis?
I sometimes have other people using my mac and it automatically logs in to my account. I do not have "disable automatic log in" chcked and have read/heard it is a god idea to have it checked. I have a few questions about disabling automatic log in though. SInce I am "admin" on my Mac, does that mean if i disable automatic log in do I need to set up a new password or will my "admin" one be just fine and/or used?If I check the "require password to wake this computer or screen saver" will that password also be my "admin"?

I can not seem to sync my mac or enable "back to my mac" because I am being told that "I may have more than one device on my network providing Network Address Translation. Well, this is news to me. I have a Time capsule running my network and an Airport Express with Airtunes dvice and they have been hooked up for more than two years. I have been abloe to sync my network up until recently and I do not recall making any changes to any network configurations so I am clueless as to why things suddenly stopped working in this regard.
THe error message tells me to disable Network Address Translation on one of the devices but does not tell me how to do that. Nor can I find any information related to Network Address Translation on the help database.
Does anyone out there know how to do this?
I know back in old days when i used Windows there were many tips how to "speed up" windoze, by disabling unused services that take up time loading at start up and generally use cpu in the background. Does anybody know of a compilation-list-site and how to disable unused OS-X services?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way to disable the login prompt every time I close and open my MacBook Pro screen? I do not mind the initial login screen, when I just turn on my laptop but having to do this every time my computer goes into screensaver mode or I close the screen is annoying, especially in class. So could anyone help me out on how to avoid and disable this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my first ever mac, and loving it so far. One thing is annoying me though, the way the sidebar always pops up in preview.app when opening more than 1 image file.
I can choose to hide it, but as soon as I open a second image, it'll pop up again, taking up valuable space on my screen that I'd much rather devote to the image itself.
Does anyone know of a way of permanently disabling it? Perhaps a terminal command?
A few days ago I was looking for the ability to use an on screen keyboard in OS X. I found the option through System Preferences --> Language & Text --> Input Sources.
After I turned it off (by unchecking Keyboard & Character Viewer) I still see the Keyboard Viewer pop up when I go to install anything. I don't see the Input Menu in my Menu Bar anymore.
Anyone know how to disable it for good?
Iv just bought my very first Apple Laptop and so after years of using Windows I am not very good with it yet. So basically the problem is I'm left handed and when I play games my right had sits on the trackpad to use the W, A, S, D keys, while in my left I'm using a HP USB plug n play mouse (untill i can aford a magic mouse). I need to disable the trackpad because its interfering while a play. I have been to "System Preferences > Trackpad" but there I see no disable option. Is there a way?

So the "command" button becomes the windows button in bootcamp right? I want to disable that... is that possible? If you want to know the reason... its because when i play games like SC2, that button gets hits accidentally sometimes and it windows out and it bugs the game.... or is just annoying. Also, even better, can I change the "command" button to make it the "control" button instead?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac that I keep connected to an LG HDTV via Mini-Displayport to HDMI. I was wondering if there was any way to disable the external monitor without unplugging it? Turning off the TV doesn't actually disable the monitor as I still have the OS thinking it's still on therefore spaces imitates it as being two monitors when its really only one. The main reason I want to disable it is to save my VRAM while I'm playing Source games on Steam.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend and I want to play cards with our iSights, which would mean that each of our screens would have to appear exactly the same. The problem is that the iSight, for convenience' sake, shows my camera image flopped as a mirror image as opposed to how it appears on my friend's screen. Eg.: If I hold up my left hand, my screen shows me appearing to hold up my right hand. This obviously aids me if I need to straighten my hair and such, but for the game we want to play, it mucks things up big time.
