Now GPU accelerated flash is here, do you think that ClickToFlash will still be necessary to get decent battery life when browsing? Or should the battery life be much improved with the new Flash install?
View 3 RepliesI noticed that all the flash videos played inside Safari on my MBP were slow and choppy when switching to full screen mode. This started happening after upgrading to Flash 10.1 r85. I disabled hardware acceleration on Flash's settings, and video playback went back to normal.
What can I do to use hardware accelerated Flash, but without the slowdowns?

I haven't received my MBP yet, but from what I've heard, it works really well. I don't see a lot of mention for it though even the things I have read say that it's a great program.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe hard drive on my iMac is filling to capacity at an extremely accelerated rate. In order to have functionality, I had to delete some unnecessary files and used WhatSize to try and determine the culprit. When backing up my hard drive yesterday, Mail was showing to be 91G. The hard drive filled up again a few minutes later so I copied iTunes to an external drive for safe keeping freeing up 85G.
By this morning that was gone as well so I copied contents of Pictures over to external hard drive freeing up 189G. Mail is now up to 244G on my 500G hard drive. I rebooted at that point to see if that would stop the growth and it has currently, but it may start again. WhatSize says there are no duplicates. I am receiving and sending the same amount of mail that I usually do on a daily basis, so that is not the problem.

The downloading/installation was no problem, but I heard that you can get youtube to be automatically "white listed", so I assume there is a preferences section for this plug-in? If so, where is it? If not, how would I go about doing the aforementioned.

Before update to Safari 5.1.7, AdBlock and ClickToFlash both worked fine in two place. After update to safari 5.1.7, safari always report that AdBlock and ClickToFlash is invalid when at office. But AdBlock and ClickToFlash work fine when I at home.

I want to create a simple flash movie (I don't yet own or know how to use Adobe Flash). Pretty flowers in the background, inspirational music, passages from the Bible or something fading in an out... you know the schtick. Maybe convert it to a screen saver.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwatch Youtube vids using H.264 MP4 codec instead of flash. As most of the videos I watch are recent uploads (last year or so) they have SQ and HQ H.264 version available. As Flash eats up system resources worse then anything I can think of at the moment, I am trying to find a way to force the videos to play in MP4 format. I know ClicktoFlash has this option for Safari, but I am trying to find out if there are any other ways to do this without user input (for playlists). I use YousableTubeFixURL for Chrome and Firefox which has the option to do this, but no matter what option I choose, it always plays using Flash. I know FF doesnt have a built in MP4 player, but I though I heard of a way to get VLC or Quicktime to play it.

I have upgraded from a OX 2.8 to 3.9. I now have to use two browsers to use the internet. Safari to have access to my yahoo mail account, and fire fox 2.020 to load information on my business website.
I have not been able to use shockwave flash or flash player on the up load. When I was using OSX 2.8 I could add pictures to my business website and etc., I had no problem viewing the slide show I had on my website, other than the system was a little slow. I have an ibook G3 128 +512 ram, total. 900 mhz, 12. inches and white case. The systems requirements indicate that I need to upgrade to tiger OSX 4.0
I know there are some issues using Fire Fox with OSX 3.9. When ever I tried to access my yahoo mail from Fire fox, the system would crash.
Other than getting a new laptop, any suggestions? I tried to down load Shock wave from the old apps web site called Camino. I get an error message that the plug in cannot be loaded sussfully I have tried load flash Player 7.09, but get a message that it can not load. Could this be because of not enough space on the drive. Maybe I am not loading it correctly. Shouldn't I be able to click it to install it in the right place without having to try the different files.
I hate Flash. It?s crass, it?s loud, it?s obnoxious, and on a Mac it is a literal drag on the machine, sucking up the CPU and memory as if there?

Alright so I've delt with the smaller text on the HR AG and for the most part am okay with it. I'd rather have a standard res mate screen but thats neither here nor there.
So I noticed that the screen size of text elements while viewing flash content is very small. I was drafting my fantasy team this past weekend and really had to look hard to read everything. You cant enlarge or shrink the browser window like you can with HTML pages by pinching/pulling on the track pad.
Is there some setting I can adjust to make flash content not be so tiny.
I have recently purchased a second hand MBP from a friend, its one of the older models with the silver keyboard, has 2.33 GHz intel core duo processor, 2GB ram, 160GB HD and runs fine. I have one problem though, when I load flash games or when I try to play a flash game it slows right down and runs slower than crawling speed. Is there any way I can speed it up or will it always be like this?

Obviously I'll have to manage with less storage space, but apart from that, what is the difference between the two drives? Will the newer one in the Air be faster, as it is an Apple custom component rather than an off the shelf part?
I think the new Air is great value, BTW. The SSD in my MBP cost a fortune (but it is really really fast). Also, before anyone says "just keep the MBP", my assistant wants one, so I'll be buying either another MBP or a MBA anyway.
So which is faster MBP with standard 512GB SSD or new MBA with standard 256GB NAND flash?

It seems to be a little leisurely when I boot from it though. Does anybody know if there are faster read and write ones or is this as good as it gets?
