it keeps saying i need the flash plugin and no matter how many times i try to view it it wont work,it happens for several other fash things as well, can you view this website on safari? im using a 15in MBP
watch Youtube vids using H.264 MP4 codec instead of flash. As most of the videos I watch are recent uploads (last year or so) they have SQ and HQ H.264 version available. As Flash eats up system resources worse then anything I can think of at the moment, I am trying to find a way to force the videos to play in MP4 format. I know ClicktoFlash has this option for Safari, but I am trying to find out if there are any other ways to do this without user input (for playlists). I use YousableTubeFixURL for Chrome and Firefox which has the option to do this, but no matter what option I choose, it always plays using Flash. I know FF doesnt have a built in MP4 player, but I though I heard of a way to get VLC or Quicktime to play it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've experienced several crashes with Safari 5.0, and noticed something about the dialogue box that appears when it crashes. It says something to the effect of, "The problem could be caused by a Flash plugin." Has that dialogue box been around in previous versions of Safari? Is Apple trying to subtly gain support for their view that Flash should no longer be used?

Just upgraded to Lion 10.7.4, then the video stopped playing in Safari. Upgraded Safari, then installed the latest Flash player, V. 11.2.202.235. Also have the latest graphic card drivers. I am beginning to remember the nightmares we used to have when we upgraded Windows. I don't want to change anything any more. Apple is beginning to suck. I only went to Lion because Apple forced me because of iCloud. MANY REGRETS NOW.Â
I was going to upgrade my wife's laptop tomorrow. Now I won't until someone helps me fix my computer. MacPro 2008.  HOW DO I FIX THIS?

Lately I've been having a lot of trouble watching flash videos.
I've tried emptying the cache, resetting Safari, repairing permissions, restarting my MBP and rebooting the router. Nothing works.
Basically, the videos play when they feel like it.
I press play and nothing happens. Videos just do not load.
How do I activate HTML5 to watch Youtube video's WITHOUT using Flash ? I have tried to find an answer but am unable to. I would prefer NOT to need to download and/or use Flash as I have read and heard that this can create security concerns on my mac. I am ABLE to play the same videos on my iPad though ( I know the iPad does not have Flash ) When I try to play the videos on my mac I get a message stating: But on my iPad, I AM able to play the SAME video.

No mater what you MAC guru says... Windows rocks despite of all problems Microsoft doesn't screw you up like this and force you to buy propreitery every thing. Sorry folks I am frustrated and need help.. before this MAC sees the dumpster.
I'm trying to read news sites and my eye is distracted by things bouncing around in adverts. It's even worse when they're playing obnoxious sounds until you click the mute button in them. Therefore I just thought I'd let people know about this wonderful piece of software. I've seen it mentioned a few times here but even if this thread only helps a few people I think it'll be worth it:[URL]Not only does it hide these horrific insults to humanity (ok a bit strong perhaps), it actually prevents them loading, therefore your pages load quicker! And it's completely unobtrusive! If you want to watch flash file, simply click on in.

After updating my system to 10.7.4, the flash plugin crashes in both Safari and Firefox. Videos don;t so much as start. I reverted back to 10.7.3 with time machine and flash workes fine again. Reinstalled the update, and broken again. Safari and Firefox are all up to date as well as the flash plugin. All caches have been cleared. Based on info I have gotten from this and other forums, I have checked all the settings in the flash system preferences.Â

I am using a mid 2009 Macbook pro, and just updated to 10.7.4. Since doing this my Flash plugin crashes on both Safari and Firefox so I can't even load Youtube videos. Â I've got the most updated version of Firefox and Flash player, and after looking through forums have tried rebooting my Macbook several times. Each time I reboot Youtube videos load a little bit more without crashing, but I havn't got more than 5 seconds into a video yet.Â

I have an eMac. 1.25 GHz Power PC G4. OS 10.5.8. Why cant I find a Flash Plugin that will run my videos on Facebook etc?

I have a PowerMac G5 computer, running OSX Version 10.4.11. Up until yesterday, the computer performed flawlessly. Suddenly, yesterday, I get a message from Firefox (the browser I usually use), telling me that my Flash Player had been disabled because I did not have the most up-to-date version of Adobe Flash Player. When I investigated, I found out that the newest version was NOT compatible with my computer. So I tried reinstalling the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player that IS compatible and have had no success. When I go in to System Preferences and click on the Adobe Flash Player pane (under other), I get a message reading "could not load Adobe Flash Player." Someone out there must know how to handle this. I'm not in a position to purchase a new computer, and I desperately need Flash Player for some of the websites I use quite often.

Suddenly a couple of movies on my website no longer play in Safari. When I try to play them I get an error message that says "Plug-In Failure". Both movies play fine in Firefox and Chrome. The movies in question are at [URL] (12 seconds long), and [URL] (20 minutes long). I am running OS X Lion 10.7.3. Safari version 5.1.3. I'd like to know if others can play these movies, in the same OS and the same version of Safari. And if so, what are your settings.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make an old iMac G5 (17" 1.8ghz non-iSight model) of mine useful again and am giving it to my mother, but after adding another 1gb stick of memory (making it 1.5gb total), putting in a new 7200rpm 500gb HDD and upgrading it to 10.5, I'm experiencing stuttering youtube in Safari and general sluggishness.
Could it be possible that Leopard, although supporting PPC is slowing it down? Maybe, then, downgrading to Tiger again might fix things. Mostly, I'm confused at why it would be struggling to play YouTube clips in Safari (and in the newest build of Webkit, even).
So I enabled html5 on youtube but it's still playing everything on flash. not just the ads but all videos.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSuddenly today whenever I try to play a youtube video on Chrome or Safari (the only browsers I have installed) I get the message "The following plug-in has crashed: shockwave flash" in Chrome and "plug-in failed" on Safari.Â
At first I thought it was Chrome so I reinstalled Chrome, tried disabling the chrome native flash plugin in about:plugins (then the other one) but no joy, then I realised it was happening on Safari too. Â
So I downloaded the Flash uninstaller for mac and uninstalled > reinstalled and still no joy.Â
I'm running the latest version of both browsers, latest lion updates and flash version on a Macbook Pro (Dec '11)Â
Since the new Air ships without Flash, this is a good time to mention these alternatives for Youtube videos. These extensions use HTML5 to play all Youtube videos, without gobbling up your battery like a buffet. Safari users [URL:...] Chrome users [URL:...]

I'm having trouble view YouTube videos. When I try to view a video, it tells me my flash player isn't up to date. But when I download the latest player from the link they provide(which it tells me is successful), I still can't view the video.
Anybody have any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
I found this forum through a google search, and wanted to put the word out. It seems choppy, laggy or otherwise unplayable youtube videos and other streams using Adobe Flash 9 or 10 on OS X 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 is a very common headache with no clear resolution other than, 'Your CPU is too slow".
It seems I may have found a suitable fix to allow flash videos (as poorly as adobe flash is coded for Linux and OS X platforms) to finally play on my old, but very much alive 12" PowerBook G4. I'm not talking HD videos in DVD glass pond-like quality, but I'm talking 1fps to an estimated 10-15fps with mp3 quality audio that doesn't stutter.
My specs as tested and functioning:
System: 1Ghz PowerPC G4 12" aluminum
Version: OS X 10.5.8 (originally came with 10.3.9)
Video: GeForce FX Go5200 32MB
Memory: 768MB DDR (upgraded from stock)
HDD: 160GB Western Digital (upgraded from stock)
ALL I had to do (not perfect, but very very noticeable improvement!) was right-click the video while it was playing, and choose the 'settings' menu for Adobe Flash player. From there, I simply unchecked the "Use Hardware Acceleration" on the Display tab, and bump the "Local Storage" tab slider bar up to 10MB.
If anyone else is or was experiencing this problem, please try this quick and easy work-around out and share your experiences. If we can get a few to confirm, I'd be happy to seed it on the google interwebs so others can find the information easily.
