View 1 RepliesWondering why I didn't do it sooner. Not only does it cut Safari's CPU usage while browsing, it blocks annoying animated ads!
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn order to install Windows 7 via bootcamp, do you have to use the full version of windows or can you use the upgrade disc to install? I figured I should ask before buying another license as I have an upgrade version of Windows 7 Pro that I don't use. I do own previous versions of Windows (all of them....just like I do Mac OS).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI haven't received my MBP yet, but from what I've heard, it works really well. I don't see a lot of mention for it though even the things I have read say that it's a great program.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I recently downloaded the plug-in "ClickToFlash" which lets you choose when you want flash to launch, if at all, and seems pretty useful. The downloading/installation was no problem, but I heard that you can get youtube to be automatically "white listed", so I assume there is a preferences section for this plug-in? If so, where is it? If not, how would I go about doing the aforementioned.
View 3 Replies View RelatedNow GPU accelerated flash is here, do you think that ClickToFlash will still be necessary to get decent battery life when browsing? Or should the battery life be much improved with the new Flash install?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs Adobe works to port its full Flash Player to mobile platforms and highlights its upcoming support in CS5 for building iPhone apps using Flash tools, an open source group is leading a drive to kill Flash on the desktop using a WebKit plugin named ClickToFlash. El asalto de HTML5 a Adobe Flash se calienta con ClickToFlash ClickToFlash allows Safari users to isolate Flash content on the web so that it only plays when they choose to allow it. Flash content is replaced with a bounding box that enables the user to ignore the item (such as with ads) or to click the placeholder to activate Flash playback as desired. Additionally, the plugin can convert requests for YouTube Flash videos into requests for higher quality H.264 videos, allowing desktop users to bypass Flash the same way the iPhone does, and simply play any YouTube videos using the browser's own built-in HTML5 support for direct H.264 playback.
The examples below compare the same HD clip served by YouTube, first rendered using Flash with the standard grey YouTube playback controls, and then presented in H.264 using ClickToFlash to request the non-Flash version from Google. The native HTML5 version results in Safari using its own native QuickTime X playback controls rather than those created by Google using Flash......
I connect to internet at home(direct connect to internet) and office(throuth web proxy) on same macbook pro. Before update to Safari 5.1.7, AdBlock and ClickToFlash both worked fine in two place. After update to safari 5.1.7, safari always report that AdBlock and ClickToFlash is invalid when at office. But AdBlock and ClickToFlash work fine when I at home.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy dad has only ever had Windows PCs. He's still on one, running XP. The one program he truly depends on is WordPerfect (for DOS).He needs a laptop, and to my great surprise, said he'd be open to getting a Mac, if he can still use this version of WordPerfect. Is this a sensible plan? (I've ONLY ever used Macs, by the way, and I've NEVER used WordPerfect). From what I gather, he could run it on a Mac via Boot Camp, or use VMWare Fusion. But would this work well?
after a lot of testing we have managed to clear everything around the topic of flashing stock PC X1900XT/512Mb (256Mb is NOT working!!) with MacPro EFI ROM. Thank you all guys at Strangedogs! It WORKS prefectlly! Ofcourse flashing card with MacPro EFI rom reenders card useless in regular PC, you have to flash it back with original bios to make it work in PC again. View 24 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tested this scenario? Since PC versions of the 3870 are cheaper than the PC+Mac version, I was wondering if I'd be able to crossfire the PC+Mac version, and a regular PC version. (Obviously I'd only be looking to run Crossfire on the Windows side.) Would this setup cause problems with either the OS X or Windows side? BTW, I've got the 2008 Mac Pro with 2 PCI-E x16 slots.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI just bought my wife a new Al MacBook and need to migrate her Treo 700p from her old Windows machine to the new Mac. I used to use Palm Desktop for Mac and know it is a little quirky and may have some issues with Leopard, so I'm trying to decide whether I should go down that path or just install Fusion and run the windows version in a VM. Anybody have any recommendations either way? She uses Palm Desktop only for syncing, so I don't need to worry about the Leopard iSync issues.

View 11 Replies View RelatedWhat version of Adobe Acrobat [not reader] would I need so I could run it on a G4 1.25 ghz MDD running 10.4.11, that would also run on 10.5, in case I install that? I am going to look for some legitimate, used software, but want to buy the right version. Version 6 says it will requires 10.2.2. Would that run on 4, and maybe 5?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got Office 2008 already on Mac. Is it better to uninstall 2008, then install 2011? Or is it better to install 2011 on top of 2008?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAm I the only one who feels that iTunes has become far too bloated and heavy on system resources for such a simple task as......playing mp3s? Theres no reason for iTunes to be taking up 70+ mb of ram. And why is still called 'iTunes' when its more of a media central application, seeing how it combines iphones, ipods, apple TV, ringtones, tv episodes, etc. Its become way too broad to be called iTunes.
This is one thing that bugs me. Some of us prefer not to use such a proprietary based digital audio player like the ipod/iphones and have more common sense by using UMS based players which dont require software, and therefor have no need for all the extra features of it. And seeing how theres really only itunes for mac thats worthy of being used, im pretty much stuck on iTunes. Basically, I *ONLY* use iTunes for mp3 playback on my mac. If this was the case on windows side, I'd have a plethora of choices (im expecting blind apple sheep to start screaming at me for that one). Each time I setup iTunes with a new installation or new login account, i turn off ALLLL the features. The only one that stays is internet radio.
Basically: iTunes has become far too bloated and broad. There should be something lighter for such a common, simple, everyday used task as playing mp3s.
I am trying to transfer my applications from my emac 10.2.8 os to my new iMac w/Snow Leopard OS. I have transferred the HD by way of Migration Assistant and firewire cable to the iMac. Whenever I try to open an application such as IPhoto from the HD icon I get "you cannot use this version of iphoto with the Imac version" or something to that effect. I have Iphoto 2.0.1. It is similar with other applications.
