I just got a MacBook Pro, OS 10.6.5 and I transferred all my information from my Air, OS 10.5...something. When I went to watch a video online, it said that FlashPlayer wasn't installed, so I installed the latest version on the adobe website, but it still says that there's a missing plug-in. Flash player was working fine on my air, and all my software is up to date.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI go on Justin.tv all the time to watch the Office and when I do I don't notice any lag but recently I have occasionally. I checked activity monitor and it says the Flash Plug in is at around ~45% CPU. Why does it hog so much CPU? How can I change this? Is this normal for flash?? I thought my MBP would be able to handle this..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI work for a post secondary school with online formatted classes. We send flash drives out to students to access video content when they are on the go, but it was pretty much made for Windows based computers. I have had a few students now who have Macs and cannot open the content or are getting a message stating the drive is not formated. I see many instructions on how to format a flash drive from a Mac to work on a Mac & PC but nothing about being able to format the flash drive using a PC so it can work on a Mac.

I installed adobe flash player 9.0 extension for safari on my Mac OS X Lion system. The installation went well. But the web page that needs it complains that the extension is being blocked by my browser. I can't figure out why this is happeneing. I'm not intentionally blocking any extensions to Safari.

Every time I attempt to watch a video or Netflix, my player won't work and tell me to download the new version. I do so, and restart the browser and they tell me the same thing. I have tried deleting the old versions and emptying the trash, I have tried restarting my computer, I have no firewall up. Nothing will make them work.

I've got a Mac Pro1,1 (Mid 2006) with a 7300GT installed. I want to upgrade the card as cheaply as possible. I've looked on Apple Store and according to reviews/comments the ATI HD 5770 will be compatible, but its 199!? The PC version is only 100.
I know you can flash the ATI 4870, but even this is out dated now? And most of the links on the guides here are dead/the stores don't stock them anymore.
Is it possible to buy a PC version ATI HD 5770 and flash it to work with my Mac Pro?
When I go to certain websites that use Adobe Flash Player with Firefox 3 in one user account, the Flash doesn't work. Some Flash websites do work, such as Youtube. What in the world is going wrong? How can I fix it?
The details:
I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.6, it has two user accounts. One user account is mine, has administrator privileges, and gets most of the use. The other user account was created later, lacks administrator privileges, and gets little use. Both user accounts have Safari and the latest Firefox 3 (3.0.8) installed. The problem with Flash occurs ONLY in the second (non-admin) user account, ONLY in Firefox, and ONLY on certain websites.
Websites with Flash that do work:
1. YouTube.com
2. Every website I could think of with a simple Flash intro
Websites with Flash that DON'T work:
1. pandora.com //The HTML loads fine, but there is a dead white box where the Flash UI should be
2. Macromedia Flash settings manager //There is a medium white box where the Flash UI that allows you to change settings should be.
3. seeqpod.com //Very odd failure mode: The Flash UI loads, and works. I click "sign in", and the "sign in" dialog appears. I type my username and password and click enter, and then the whole Flash UI freezes forever (well, for at least 30 minutes). This crash is unrecoverable.
Note that all three of those broken websites do work in Safari in the non-admin user, and all three of those broken websites do work in both Safari and Firefox in the Admin user.
What I have tried:
1. Upgrading from Flash 9 to the latest Flash 10. No change whatsoever.
2. Uninstalling all versions of Flash using the Flash Uninstaller for OS X 10.3 and up, available from Adobe/Macromedia, then reinstalling Flash 10. No change whatsoever.
I have a Quicksilver running os 10.2 and I cant seem to install any app since it requires Java 1.5 or higher. Also, Youtube wont work in Safari after I installed the latest version of Adobe Flash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have/had a 16 GB Kingston Data Traveler flash drive with all of my work files on it. I travel a lot for work and I was just in Italy for 2 weeks. Anyway, I went to an internet cafe to print a document before a meeting. 20 minutes before I went to this place the drive worked fine. I got to the place, and it seemed to me that the guy didn't know what he was doing. He had machines running on XP and they were extremely slow, and he just kept clicking away. He finally turned to me and said that his machine wouldn't read my drive. I blanched and tried putting it back into my Macbook and felt sick when I saw that the drive was no longer recognizable on my Mac either.
I had backed up almost everything on the server before I left for Italy, and I had emailed most of the new documents I had created while away from the office. Unluckily, there was one folder of documents that I hadn't backed up on the server because there wasn't enough space there (grrr), so I had left them on the drive. A few lessons I learned:
-back up on the desktop or hard drive as well while traveling
-bring the portable printer next time
-don't let someone mess with my jump drive
Should I reformat the drive and attempt to use it again, or should I buy a new one that is a better brand? I definitely don't want a repeat of this. This is the first time I've ever had a problem like this--all the other drives I've ever used, from expensive to cheapies, all worked fine. Is there any way to recover any of these files or should I just accept that they're gone? My guess that being an internet cafe with PCs, the computers were full of viruses and the drive became infected corrupted. When I try to repair it or verify it, I get an error message.
This is my first post here, hopefully i can begin posting a bit more and learn more about my mac pro. I just got a hold of an Apple Graphics Card Upgrade. The part# is MB560Z/A. It's an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT, but it's the 2006 version with EFI32 firmware (or do i call it BIOS or ROM?) and won't work with the 2008 Mac Pro... and of course my dilemma is i want to use it in my 2008 Mac Pro. So is it possible for me to flash it (which i'm pretty sure it is) and more importantly is it easy to do and could someone tell me how (or point me in the direction of simple instructions) of how to go about doing it? Also, I understand there's always some risk doing these type of things, but would the chance of me screwing up the card be considered minimal? Is it easy to restore to the factory default if i want to place it back in a 2006 mac (i have no plans for that, but it'd be nice to know i have that option).

I am here because I am interested in buying my first Mac Laptop. I would be mainly using this in my High School during Lunch and Study hall to work on projects and research. My school only uses Apple computers so I don't think there will be a networking problem(heard there can be some unfriendly networks towards macs?). I have been looking into THIS I Book sold used by [URL]it dose not have a airport card (I dont know what that is) and the CD drive doesn't work but that doesn't bother me because I mainly use flash drives and SD cards.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got this weird issue with my 4 GB flash/thumb drive. Basically, in OS X it seems to work perfectly fine. I formatted it to HFS+ and transferred files to it, ejected it, then put it back in, the file is still there, I transferred it back to the computer, and it opens fine. However, when I put it in any machine running Windows, it'll only recognize 48 MB or something. It refuses to format the whole 4 GB.
When I plug it into an Ubuntu machine, it would recognize a "4 GB filesystem", but would throw up errors anytime I try to interact with it. And when I tried to format it with Ubuntu, it would invariably fail. From Windows and Ubuntu's views, the flash drive is no good. But then why does it *seem* to work fine in OS X? Yes, I have formatted the drive with MS-DOS (FAT) in OS X, same results in Windows and Ubuntu.
I have an i5 27" iMac and was curious why VMWare Fusion with Windows 7 was running so slowly. My iMac works at a snails pace when I try to run VMWare Fusion and anything else at the same time. I thought it might be a memory issue. I have 2 gb of RAM allocated to the virtual machine and 2 gb for Mac OSX. I was looking at the activity monitor and noticed that the Flash Player (DashboardClient Internet plug in) was taking up almost 600 mb of memory. What is the flash player that takes up so much RAM? Do I need to have it running? The other big program I am using that is taking up alot of RAM is PS3 media server which is taking up almost 500 mb of RAM.

I have had a MacMini for about 2 months now, and use brand new Creative brand speakers to plug into it. Everything has worked fine, but this morning as I went onto a band's MySpace page I was informed that the music could not be played without installing a newer version of Adobe Flash Player. So I clicked the link and went through the installation and sure enough now the MySpace music player came up. Unfortunately, I noticed there was no sound coming out of my speakers. First, I checked each plug, but still no sound. Second, I reinstalled Adobe Flash Player for Mac (from the Adobe website), but it still didn't work. Third, I took the audio plug connecting my speakers and MacMini out and noticed that the music was playing through my MacMini, but when I plugged it back in I noticed that it wasn't coming through my external speakers. Dumbfounded, I plugged my iPod in through the Aux In on my speakers and noticed it worked perfectly fine. Finally, I switched audio cables connecting my MacMini and my Creative brand speakers and it still didn't work! What is going on here?

I am currently using a Macbook 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.3 and Safari 4.0.5. Also i have restarted my macbook, updated it completely, tried reinstalling Adobe Flash Plug-in, done the disk utility repair disk (even though idk if i did it right) and i have been surfing the web for two days to find a solution.
