this may be sort of a noob question but I was hoping someone could help me out. I have an HP photosmart 8050 printer hooked up to my iMac via USB. The thing is my girlfriend uses my other 2 dell laptops mainly for school while I use my iMac for school. All of these computers are on the same network and are scattered around my house.
So being in school we need to print out a lot of documentation and wanted to just have the printer setup wirelessly. I have a modem w/ the wired/wireless router, and all my computers have internal wireless cards.
I have installed a new printer through on my imac (10.6) and it does not work. how can I delete this installed printer driver (without affecting anything else)?

I have attempted to load the driver for this printer using System Preferences/ Printers and faxes. When I select the + I find my psc 2400 printer listed when I select add I get the message: Some of the software for the printer is missing. You may have to reinstall the software to be able to successfully print. There is the option to continue. Selecting this button I get the message: The software for the printer was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the software from the manufacturer. This printer was purchased when I had a Mac with a power PC chip and OS X version 10.4.1 which can not be loaded into the current computer. Is there a way to load the driver software that seems to be missing?

I have OSX 10.6 installed and I currently have my broadband connected by Ethernet connection. Airport seems to connect to my wireless router even though this is plugged in. HPSETUP appears as a device in the WI-FI drop down, however to print I need to select this from the dropdown. Can my iMac's wifi connect to this by default rather than my broadband connection?

I have recently installed Snow Leopard (was using Leopard before) and this printer shows as supported in Snow Leopard.The problem I'm having, is that when I go to print a document from Microsoft Word (Office 2008) for Mac, all I get are blank pages. I printed something from Text Edit and it comes out fine, but files from Microsoft Word come out blank. Also, the "Test" pages come out fine as well.
I have been printing files for months and months now from Microsoft Word, but this is the first time I have tried in Snow Leopard.Does anyone know what is going on? I really need to print stuff since its for school.

It then would not print to either the HP psc 2510xi Photosmart (USB cable) or the networked HP Officejet 7000, both of which had worked with 10.9.2. I downloaded new drivers from HP and Apple: HP Printer Drivers v.2.26.1 for OSX. When I try to Add a printer I get the message: Can't install software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server. HP support labeled my Photosmart obsolete and sold me an Officejet Pro 8100. Same problem even though it came with a CD with printer drivers. Same messages.

Yesterday I purchased my first ever iMac (OS X 10.9.4 - Mavericks I believe).
I'm trying to connect my HP Photosmart C7280 printer to work wirelessly but can't seem to work out how to do it.
When I connect via a USB the printer is recognised in Printers & Scanners, when I remove the USB the printer disappears.
My Mac and printer are both connected to the same wireless network (which we get through Virgin Media) - although my printer displays "no link" for IP address, don't know if this is relevant.
I have tried resetting print system, I have downloaded all Apple system updates, I have downloaded the latest driver I could find from the HP site (although this might have been unnecessary).
One factor that may be significant is that when I view the printer details (when connected via USB) I see the Mac's name, the printer model and the status but I don't see any reference to a Driver, which from what I've read, I feel I should be seeing.
I've also read reference to clicking "use" in a drop-down menu but from the details I see in the printer pane/dialogue box? I cannot see "use" anywhere or any other drop-down menus.
by the way, the printer always worked perfectly well wirelessly when connected to a Windows laptop on the same network,

I installed snow leopard the other day and my quicktime doesnt work right and i cant print anything. When i try to run a .wmv file which would normally play on quicktime with using flip4mac it will no longer work, it just brings up a prompt box saying "quick time player must be installed to play file" which quick time is installed so wtf here? alos when ever i try to print to my hp printer now it brings up an error msg saying that it needs to send the report to apple or what ever because something quit unexpected or what ever it says. I have never had these problems before SL instal so what gives?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBought a HP Laserjet Pro 8500 A909g. I have installed software but driver never appears in list so there is an option to manually select it. Sometimes the printer then appears and other times it doesn't. Message then appears: If your device is not listed it is not supported by this installer. Downloaded installer again from HP but still no good. Printer is wireless but was given USB cable to connect to Macbook Pro as don't have internet at home and was told it would be no problem. Message now appearing saying if USB port on printer is at front (mine is) do not connect to USB on Macbook. However, it doesn't bother to tell me how to connect it any other way. Nothing in manual. Running out of patience. Just starting working for myself and have clients waiting for designs which I can't even print off.

Now when I try printing again through either textedt or another program all I get is this message: "Network host 'XXX.XXX.X.XXX' is busy; will retry in 5 seconds". The amount of time keeps increasing.

For whatever reason, when I installed Snow Leopard it did not automatically install the updates for the printer drivers already installed in my computer.
I then tried to manually install the printer drivers using the SL disk and still no luck. The printers that I use are both wireless and work when they are connected with USB. Am I missing something? I'm reading all over about how people have made the upgrade with no problems at all so I'm there's got to be something I'm not doing.
On my HP printer Officejet4620 I get an error message "waiting for printer to become available".
