Oct 18, 2009I have 13" MacBookPro running 10.6.1 with 4 G Ram. My HP Photosmart C4500 All-In-One will print but will not scan. I have unplugged the USB cable and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail. I have tried to scan from both the unit itself and the scan software on my laptop. I get messages like "an unknown error occurred, or "can't find scanner". When you look in the 4500s window it appears to be scanning but nothing happens. Any ideas? It seems to have stumped HP help so far!

Jun 30, 2014Since I upgraded to Maverick the Scan Print in System Preferences freezes when I try to open it. I repaced my old Canon printer, because there was not a driver update available for it. My new printer is a HP Photosmart 7520. I downloaded the newest driver and software for it , but when I try to open HP Utilities it also freezes.

Mar 7, 2010this may be sort of a noob question but I was hoping someone could help me out. I have an HP photosmart 8050 printer hooked up to my iMac via USB. The thing is my girlfriend uses my other 2 dell laptops mainly for school while I use my iMac for school. All of these computers are on the same network and are scattered around my house.
So being in school we need to print out a lot of documentation and wanted to just have the printer setup wirelessly. I have a modem w/ the wired/wireless router, and all my computers have internal wireless cards.

Jun 22, 2014I have 2 software updates for my Epson CX5000 all-in-one printer listed in the Software update. The Printer Utility file/folder/software is missing. I have done multiple searches with no success in finding it in my iMac with the newly upgraded OSX Mavericks. It is so difficult to get the software for this printer. Unable to get it from the Epson site. Can get only from Mac Software update. Is there a way to remove the software updates which are the same and start anew? Updates are dated June 19th.

May 3, 2012I have just connected my Canon Pixma MG5270 to my iMac running OSX 10.7.3 via WiFi. Printing works great, and scanning from the desktop "Canon MP Navigator EX - MG 5200 series" V 4.0.3 application works like a dream. When I try to scan via the operations panel on the printer/scanner the following comes up - Set the PC to start scanning". This worked fine when connected directly via USB cable. I have searched the web and believe I have the correct settings, particuliarly in MP Navigator:
1. Main Menu -> One-click -> Start scanning by clicking the button (checked)
2. Main Menu -> One-click -> Preferences -> General -> Compress scanned images when transferring (checked) -> Change -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG 5200 series_xxxxxxxxx) -> Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG5200 series_xxxxxxx) I have restarted the iMac and printer and always with the same result.

Jun 16, 2012I have an iMac 27" (intel 3.4 GHz, Intel core i7, and 16 GB memroy) purchased a few months ago. It is running the latest version of Lion 10.7.4 I run this computer on our network along with a iMac 24" 3.5years old and a Macbook Pro 2.5year old.
This computer seems to have a beef with the Hewlett-Packard printer (HP colour laser jet CM1312nfi MFP) which I have had for about 3 years. I can not get the new computer to work with the printer properly. It allows printing but it pauses all the time when you resume the print it starts printing from the begining of the document againIt will pause any prints sent to it across the network after the first 1 or 2 pages are printedIt won't allow scanning at allWhen you launch the scanner it takes forever to connect (3 - 4 mins)If you try to scan using any of the scan options (if it loads the devise) it then states it can not connect to the device, or all the scan buttons apear but greyed out.This is odd as it will still allow printing??
Also, all the other PC's have the same version of Lion 10.7.4 and have the latest HP Driver installed (these were released on the 14 Dec 2011). Other useful infoThe scanner is hard wired to the 27" machineYou can only use the printer if one scanner is hard wired as it does not have wirless capacity.I have uninstalled and installed the software more times than i can count trying all different trouble shooting etcI can only conclued that there is somthing the 27" machine is doing to prevent the scnanner registering properlyNone of the other computers can use the scanner correctly either. As you can only scan a page at a time using the "Scan" button. If I wish to scan multiple pages on with either of the other computers I need to use the "scan to folder" button.

Aug 24, 2010I have OSX 10.6 installed and I currently have my broadband connected by Ethernet connection. Airport seems to connect to my wireless router even though this is plugged in. HPSETUP appears as a device in the WI-FI drop down, however to print I need to select this from the dropdown. Can my iMac's wifi connect to this by default rather than my broadband connection?

Oct 22, 2009I have a HP Photosmart C4200 Series (C4280 to be exact). I have recently installed Snow Leopard (was using Leopard before) and this printer shows as supported in Snow Leopard.The problem I'm having, is that when I go to print a document from Microsoft Word (Office 2008) for Mac, all I get are blank pages. I printed something from Text Edit and it comes out fine, but files from Microsoft Word come out blank. Also, the "Test" pages come out fine as well.
I have been printing files for months and months now from Microsoft Word, but this is the first time I have tried in Snow Leopard.Does anyone know what is going on? I really need to print stuff since its for school.

Aug 22, 2009I simply plugged in my HP C4180 All in One after starting up my MAC. It was installed in seconds. I can printer without a problem. My problem is the scan feature. When calling up scan from the actual printer, it does NOT give an option to scan to a file. I have no installation disk for MAC so I'm at a stand still.

Sep 5, 2014Yesterday I purchased my first ever iMac (OS X 10.9.4 - Mavericks I believe).
I'm trying to connect my HP Photosmart C7280 printer to work wirelessly but can't seem to work out how to do it.
When I connect via a USB the printer is recognised in Printers & Scanners, when I remove the USB the printer disappears.
My Mac and printer are both connected to the same wireless network (which we get through Virgin Media) - although my printer displays "no link" for IP address, don't know if this is relevant.
I have tried resetting print system, I have downloaded all Apple system updates, I have downloaded the latest driver I could find from the HP site (although this might have been unnecessary).
One factor that may be significant is that when I view the printer details (when connected via USB) I see the Mac's name, the printer model and the status but I don't see any reference to a Driver, which from what I've read, I feel I should be seeing.
I've also read reference to clicking "use" in a drop-down menu but from the details I see in the printer pane/dialogue box? I cannot see "use" anywhere or any other drop-down menus.
by the way, the printer always worked perfectly well wirelessly when connected to a Windows laptop on the same network,
