Mail does not notify me by giving me the "Ping" sound when new mail has arrived. I actually usually know new emails have arrived by my iPhone making the "Ping" Sound. Right now I am in Safari, but mail is running in the dock (I clicked the red X button). - - Just for reference of how I am using Mail usually.

I don't want to rely on alerts being added at to the subscription itself, I want to be able to customise on my end when I get an alert for an entry, and when or what that alert will be. Is this possible? I don't see any options for it. If not, anyone know of any good alternative calendar applications that are like iCal?
In the mail program the signature appears in every message I type even when i reply. Can I change this so that it does not appear at the bottom of the message when I reply, as it is appearing right down the bottom of the emails.
If not, what is a better email client to use on the mac, perhaps thunderbird?
I use Sync on two machines to keep iCal on both synchronized. It works fine, except for one small annoyance. Sometimes I create an alert attached to a calendar entry, to send me e-mail sometime before the event. And, yes, I get two messages, one from each machine.

I've tried: closing the message unsuccessfullyForce Quitting the application (reads "Mail (not Responding)") when I do. (4 times)Turning off the entire computer, letting it rest and rebooting. (3 times)Opening up my server on the internet and deleting the offensive message "mailer daemon"Turning off the computer again.
So...as soon as I open mail, the grey "message" is open. I can click on the Mail Viewer window and have that come forward, but all is frozen.Just did it again and it hasn't changed. Had to force quit again. Never before in 8 years of using the Mail application (different computers). The rainbow wheel of death spins and spins.

What happens when the error message in the Mail program is long that you cannot get to the bottom of it? I cannot click it or even access this email from a folder or mailbox to delete it. Am I going to be stuck with it for eternity???

This hasn't happened before. My Mac (MacBook running OS 10.5.6) will flash instead of a "bloop" noise when I get a notification. When I get an alert, I won't get a noise anymore. Or when I hit a button on my keyboard that does nothing my computer won't make a noise. Now my displays just flash white for a second. I have no idea how this happened.

I have a Macbook Pro. It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. It will pop up and say mail quit unexpectedly will show that report and reopen box. hen mail is open and the circle is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. The emails come from various organisations / associations and do not seem to be related.

I have decided to start using gmail and keeping my email online instead of stored locally in the Mail program.
I have all my old mail and sent mail downloaded locally in the Mail program.
Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.
I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.

I would like to use hotmail on my Mac Mail program. I was able to download my messages and send them BUT: - My Hotmail have few folders on the InBox and I can't see it on Mac Mail. - Once I read a Hotmail email message on Mac Mail it does not update on my Hotmail (server) account displaying that it has been read. - When I delete a Hotmail message on my Mac Mail it does not update on my Hotmail (server) account. It seems that on Mac Mail, I am only able to download messages and send them without syncing between my computer and their server.

Usually when this happens and the error box pops up I just choose another server. The problem is that the email was going to a whole list of people and the options are lost at the bottom of the screen. I can't access the buttons. View 3 Replies View RelatedThis has been occurring more often in the past week or so. I'll open a message that is from Person A with Subject A. The actual message being open will be a previous message from Person B with subject B. Completely different. It just seems like a database error or something. I am using Mail with my Gmail setup through IMAP. A restart does not fix it nor does quitting and re-opening mail. The message comes through just fine on my BlackBerry. Is there some way I can refresh the messages or something?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo to the issue: I tried to send an email, not knowing it was 25mb, and obviously it did not go through. I deleted it out of my outbox, and since then it's been popping up in recovered messages non stop (current count is 96). I've deleted the files from the mail app, deleted the temporary files in the mac mail folder, deleted the contents of the deleted folder, and yet the application still "recovers" the message non stop.
Since this has happened I have not been able to obtain new messages from mac mail because it is busy with whatever it is doing
When I delete a message from my inbox in Mail I'm used to the following message being current. Mail always moves to the prior message.

I don't know why I am not able to check my email unless I use the website. I tried clearing the captcha and even changing my password in gmail.

When I hit Reply in Mail and start typing, my message obviously appears on the first line. The annoyance is that the message I'm replying to is on the second line when I want there to be at least a line's space between my message and theirs.So I end up having to hit return and then cursor up every time just to put that space in myself. Is there a way of having this there automatically?

the left column contains the email inbox/outbox/etc...
the the large section of the screen should be split into two sections, the email folder at the top, and the actual email below it.
but I somehow deleted the message window split.
When I open my mail app and delete a message, it deletes it from my mail app inbox. When I log on to gmail, I see the mail still there. Is there anyway to delete from mail, and have it remove the message from gmail altogether?

What this ends up doing is associated messages with no subject or vague subject lines together when they really are not related at all. I've attached an example; that four different conversations from four different people, and none of them are related at all, but they are all part of one thread.
how to set a delay for mail to automatically delete specific messages (from specific users, for instance) after a preset amount of time? Maybe something like an applescript that can be run as a rule in mail?
