Is there any application or way to get alerts on my mobile from iCal events? I have set few notifications in my iCal, but it will be shown on my Mac only. If there is any application that can send SMS to my mobile.
View 4 RepliesSo, i have been using entourage for a couple of years and had no problems. I now want to sync my mail and calendars with my new phone (Nokia N97 mini). To do this I believe I have to use Isync, so I have set the sync services preferences in entourage to 'sync events and tasks with ical and .Mac'.
I have a few queries:
1. when I do this my calendar in ical does not represent my calendar in entourage - there are additional events in the ical calendar (it doesnt recognise that these have been deleted from entourage). Ical is also set to sync with mobile me and that has the same additional events as ical.
2. in ical it says I have 2 calendars 'entourage' and 'entourage 2' however 'entourage' doesnt have any events on it. So I deleted it but it just keeps coming back
Okay, I've subscribed to a couple of calendars in iCal, including birthdays from Address Book, but I'm completely stumped. If I want to receive an alert when one of these items is coming up, then what do I do?
I don't want to rely on alerts being added at to the subscription itself, I want to be able to customise on my end when I get an alert for an entry, and when or what that alert will be. Is this possible? I don't see any options for it. If not, anyone know of any good alternative calendar applications that are like iCal?
I have just updated all of my friends birthdays in iCal. I would like to set it up so that it alerts me 7 days before the date for every birthday. I don't really fancy doing this 60 times, is there anyway to do all of them at once?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a program/app that will allow me to primarily send SMS from my Mac using my current phone number. Does anyone know if anything like this exists? I can only think of something like this working in one of two ways: Sending an SMS composed on my Mac through my mobile/cell, via Bluetooth or some other method? OR Using software that emulates my mobile number to compose and send SMS?
I remember back in the day you could actually email an SMS to a phone by using their mobile number as a username and their network as the domain - e.g. 07123456789@orange.net. Unfortunately, because pretty much all the networks now provide email services too, doing that nowadays means they will actually receive an email at their online account instead of their SMS inbox.......................
My ical is not syncing with mobile me account. I anyone else having issues today?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI use Sync on two machines to keep iCal on both synchronized. It works fine, except for one small annoyance. Sometimes I create an alert attached to a calendar entry, to send me e-mail sometime before the event. And, yes, I get two messages, one from each machine.

I can easily boot into Windows 7 and charge it with Mobile Device Center, but I don't want to boot into Windows everytime I want to charge my phone. I've seen some very large USB type phones (eww) but I was after a bluetooth headset. Could I say use a bog standard mobile phone bluetooth headset? I rather like the Nokia ones.

The phone and the mac connected ok via bluetooth, and I inputted the code that comes up on the screen. After which the the connection 'failed'.
I then tried another mobile phone, and the connection failed on that too. The thing is I've used both phones before to transfer files to the Mac Pro.
Something happened about 10 days ago and I'm repeatedl getting the same iCal alerts which were dismissed when they first occured. I am also having all the programs that were open when whatever glitch occured reopen every time I start up again including a repeat Excel autosave. Does anyone know where the system keeps the restart information as I suspect that it needs to be cleared out.

I just used Chax to combine my AIM and Facebook accounts in iChat, but I just realized how many of my friends use the stupid mobile feature for AIM, so they all show up in my buddy list when they really arent available. Is there anyway I can hide those mobile accounts in iChat?

EDIT: I've also read that some of the cell phones that can sync with ical (from verizon) have the hangup of only being able to sync one of the calenders. Has this problem been fixed, or is there a certain phone I should aim for that doesn't have this problem?
I've been told this can be done with icloud but i'm not upgrading to that until next year when I buy a new pro as mine is quite old.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good app for the Mac that will monitor a given web page for any changes in content and immediately send an email or other alert letting me know. I don't care so much about the particular changes, just the fact that a change was made.
I was looking at Web Secretary, but it's a *nix app that doesn't have a GUI and I'm not entirely sure it would do what I need. I would rather have something a bit more user-friendly anyway, and preferably free.
Mail does not notify me by giving me the "Ping" sound when new mail has arrived. I actually usually know new emails have arrived by my iPhone making the "Ping" Sound. Right now I am in Safari, but mail is running in the dock (I clicked the red X button). - - Just for reference of how I am using Mail usually.

I love how i can just click on dates in Mail and add them to my iCal which then pushes i to google calendar for my wife to see...that way i can sneak tennis or a round of golf in and she can't say she didn't know
At any rate-i would like to know if there's a way to pull her cal stuff to my ical. I can see all of her stuff on my google calendar, but i dont have the "right" to add her account to ical. I assume i could just have her enter in her login info - but i would like to know if that's the best way.
Trying to get them to talk to each other - I've input the Google account into iCal preferences, and it shows up fine. But I seem only able to sync one way - if I add an appointment in Google Calendar - then sync - it shows up fine in iCal. But if I add an event in iCal and then sync - it doesn't show up on the Google Calandar.
this noob understand what the differences will be in terms of pros/cons and overall performance. What about if Apple keeps everything else the same and just upgrades the processors, how would that affect things (hypothetically)?

I haven't downloaded them, they aren't in my library and I haven't synced with another computer. I have done a sync over and over anot nothing. I have even done a synch and took all the music off. I know I can use the consolidate library command, which will move the apps to the external. But as soon as I d/l another app iTunes begins saving them to the default folder again.
