Applications :: Images Auto Download From FireFox?
Mar 4, 2009
Okay for FireFox or safari, I'm sorting through ALOT of digital pictures over the net and saving most of them, but rather then opening a page and click on the save image option is there an addon that will auto save all images, bmp, jpeg, tiff, png to a particular folder?
I found some older stuff like this but nothing for MAC.
I know i download all the pictures if they're being displayed in some form, is my computer doing this already and saving them some place I don't know about?

I would like to know if there is any way I can set Firefox to shut down my mac once all my downloads finish? I was able to find one plug-in for Firefox that will shut down the system after downloading but it's for Windows. One more question does anyone know if this is a feature in another browser?

I have been having a problem with some websites, various ones. The page starts loading and I see the images load but once the page is done loading all of the images disappear and I get the little broken link icons in their place. I have no problem seeing those sites using Safari. Other sites are not a problem.
I have not done anything to tweak the pipelining and I have made sure that the box is checked to load images automatically with no exceptions. Java is also checked.
This is one of the sites that it happens on:
[URL]
but I have had the problem in us sites as well. I does not happen at all websites, just enough to make it annoying.
I do not have any unusual firefox exts just color tabs, Google Preview, Tab Mix, coolPreviews, download helper, numbered tabs, fireftp

Recently I have started using firefox for a change, plus it seems like flash content plays much smoother in firefox than safari.
Anyway, in safari when you want to save a picture you right click and can "Add Image to iPhoto Library"
There is no such option in firefox and I can't seem to find anything similar to that.
Could someone tell me how I save images from firefox to iPhoto?

Firefox (3.0.7, latest version) for OSX has been a nightmare lately. I prefer it to Safari because of the extensions, but I'm thinking of ditching it. Some web pages seem to be fine, but most will only load about half of the images.
For example, on Facebook I'll get about half of the profile pictures to load on my friends list, and the others will just display a broken image link icon.
The same occurs with forums (people's avatars), and even with some major websites, where there will just be huge gaps in a page where the images are supposed to be.
I've checked the auto load settings and I don't have any exceptions, so every site should be allowed to load images immediately without permissions.

does anybody know of a way to make firefox behave like safari in that the flash videos don't begin to load or play when you open them in a new tab? Thats a great feature I've come to love from safari, that i've gotten extremely used to.

I really like Outlook for Mac. But it has a "privacy" protector or something that won't download images unless I click on "download images." How can I set it so that Outlook just downloads the damned things and leaves me alone?

I tried out iGetter and Downloader as download managers. I then removed them both. However when I now click on a download click nothing happens. I suspect that there is some remnant of one or both which tries to call the program but can't find it.

I was downloading a large 1.3GB file and when I paused it and resumed it again, it stopped working. All I have now is the .part file that is 999MB. Is there anyway that I can resume downloading this file from the 999MB point, so I don't have to download from the start again?

I've avoided asking this question for over a year but I just can't take it anymore.
Ever since I got my first macbook pro(Tiger) in 2006, I've had a pretty poor web-surfing experience when it comes to pages with a large quantity of images.
Whether it's in Firefox or Safari, it seems it takes forever to load jpegs, gifs, pngs, etc., much slower than in Windows.
And more often than not, it'll often just stop trying to load some of the images and leave empty frames instead. An annoying side effect of these situations is that I won't be able to load other websites in separate tabs until I wait 2 or 3 minutes at least.
It almost mimics what happens when you just plain lose your internet connection. My best example is www.fark.com.
Sometimes posters will post large quantities of images, 100+. Heck, what am I saying, sometimes it's not even that much but Firefox and Safari will still choke trying to retrieve the pictures.
I set aside the macbook for this very reason because I often open multiple tabs at once when I surf..and if one of those tabs just happen to be image-intensive, my whole surfing experience will grind to a halt until whatever process is happening times itself out.
I THOUGHT the problem would be fixed with Leopard..but it hasn't. I've searched the forums but I haven't found anything useful, although I've caught small stories here and there of people having the same issue, but nothing widespread.
The whole problem starts with image files...and sometimes it doesn't necessarily need large quantities to choke. Just a modest amount will do sometimes.
Any ideas?? Is it my router? (WRT54G) My DSL connection? (Yahoo SBC) It happens on either wireless or with cable. My windows boxes don't have this problem.
Not having images load is bad enough, but having your browser stall is just insufferable! (I'm also using a brand new Macbook Pro so this problem stems across two revisions)

How do I get Safari to present auto-fill options in text fields like Firefox can.
Seems like a cookies thing but I think not because it presents me with all previous names I've used on other website's text fields before.
For example in Firefox if I go to sites I haven't visited before and I'm asked to type in my new username, as soon as I type the first letter, Firefox gives me options from previous text fields I've filled in before all over the net and unrelated to the site I'm on.

Thinking about trying the new app store feature with lion 10.7.Will I end up with a disc image in my downloads folder?I'm assuming I'll get the install package in some way that I can use at my convenience offline. Is this correct? What I want to make sure to avoid is anything that's a one time use or requires being online.

I recently uninstalled transmission the bitTorrent client. I did this because it was taking too long and was told uninstalling it and reinstalling it might help. When I went to reinstall it nothing happened. I clicked on the download button and the screen moved on to a plain white screen with the words transferring data at the bottom, the cursor had its little egg timer thing but it just sat there for ages. Nothing happened and after a few minutes I tried another client, same thing happened again. Or is it just me making a fool of myself? I use max OS X 10.4.11 and my ISP is bt.

some time ago, I accidently deleted firefox off my desktop and have been unable to download it from the net since. It is an older ibook G4 I have, maybe this has something to do with it?But I did have firefox before so surely this is not the reason. What happenned first was I would download it,put into applications and drag below which seemed to work fine, until I clicked on it and it dissappeared?Could'nt figure it out..?
So I kept trying and trying and the same thing..Now when I go to download it,It saves as dmg?but fails to open saying it (failed to mount)? It doesn't even have the firefox symbol?
Does anyone know what is wrong and why can I not get firefox back on my desktop.I have another browser Opera which is fine, but I need firefox specificly for working on my website. If anyone might have any answers why this is not working I would really appreciate it.Its Mac os x version:10.3.9
