I've avoided asking this question for over a year but I just can't take it anymore.
Ever since I got my first macbook pro(Tiger) in 2006, I've had a pretty poor web-surfing experience when it comes to pages with a large quantity of images.
Whether it's in Firefox or Safari, it seems it takes forever to load jpegs, gifs, pngs, etc., much slower than in Windows.
And more often than not, it'll often just stop trying to load some of the images and leave empty frames instead. An annoying side effect of these situations is that I won't be able to load other websites in separate tabs until I wait 2 or 3 minutes at least.
It almost mimics what happens when you just plain lose your internet connection. My best example is www.fark.com.
Sometimes posters will post large quantities of images, 100+. Heck, what am I saying, sometimes it's not even that much but Firefox and Safari will still choke trying to retrieve the pictures.
I set aside the macbook for this very reason because I often open multiple tabs at once when I surf..and if one of those tabs just happen to be image-intensive, my whole surfing experience will grind to a halt until whatever process is happening times itself out.
I THOUGHT the problem would be fixed with Leopard..but it hasn't. I've searched the forums but I haven't found anything useful, although I've caught small stories here and there of people having the same issue, but nothing widespread.
The whole problem starts with image files...and sometimes it doesn't necessarily need large quantities to choke. Just a modest amount will do sometimes.
Any ideas?? Is it my router? (WRT54G) My DSL connection? (Yahoo SBC) It happens on either wireless or with cable. My windows boxes don't have this problem.
Not having images load is bad enough, but having your browser stall is just insufferable! (I'm also using a brand new Macbook Pro so this problem stems across two revisions)

I updated to Safari 5.1.7 a couple of days ago - and everything worked fine, as it always has done in Safari for me, until today. Now all images on Flickr flash white for a second after loading. Nothing has changed on the system in the meantime.

During the past few hours I've tried to load gmail and youtube in FF and Safari multiple times, but every time I do I get the spinning wheel of death. The pages will load and whenever I try to click on something I will get the wheel.
Yesterday I was on a myspace page and I received a message saying something about how the Adobe page scripts for that page were being unresponsive or something? I'm not sure exactly what it said...
Anyways, is there any way I can get this resolved? It sounds like it has to do something with a plug-in or an update.

So basically when I'm on an article or website ESPECIALLY AMAZON.COM (I use Amazon almost everyday) the annoying blue hyperlinks show up and when I scroll past them the show ads. How do I get rid of them??? Also, on Amazon.com on Firefox mainly, some type of malware changes the layout of Amazon to black and orange and puts boxes around everything!!! Just installed Office 2004 on my powerbook - opened up a presentation I have been working on - only to find that all the images I had inserted into the presentation are now black boxes. Even when I re-insert the image, I still get a black box?
Anyone have any ideas on what is going on and how to fix it? Luckily it still works on my Vaio, but I'd really like to move all my work over to the powerbook.

I don't know what happend to my websites, but many of them are displaying blue boxes with question marks instead of pictures. Some of the sites are Facebook, Abercombie, Hollister, etc. I read somewhere that it may have been due to the adobe flash update I installed.

After a few minutes of rebooting the machine i will use spotlight and it will be very flickery. Like when updating results, the blue bar flickers white and blue very quickly and almost unnoticeable. Also, related, when scrolling a list in the dock through a stack shown in list mode, it flickers a lot there as well. Is this normal behaviour for these machines/leopard in general? I'm used to using a crappy old iBook so i dont know if im just being pedantic.

I have a Intel Xeon Mac Pro and I've been able to put XP and Vista on it without issue, but am now trying to put Win 7 on it and every time after doing the initial installing files and then reboot, it comes to a blue screen and reboots very quickly.
Has anyone run into this and if so have you found a work around?
For more info, I created a Windows partition in Leopard using the Boot Camp utility and divided my drive equally. Then I insert the Win 7 disc and click on the start install and it reboots. I select the Boot Camp partition and format it. It copies files and does the install process and eventually gets to a point where it reboots and goes to load the Win 7 OS and this is when it blue screens.
I have done all the firmware updates on my Mac Pro, I even tried it on another Mac Pro with the same results.
I've redownloaded the iso direct from MS and burned it using different brand disc and using a different burning app. I tried the 64bit version also and whenever I use that version it comes up asking me what CD drive, 1 or 2, I can't enter in a 1 or a 2 or do anything at all but turn the machine off. I even tried it on another Mac Pro with the same result.
I tried removing the OS X drive and having only 1 hard drive in the system that's just for installing Win 7 to, all to no avail. Every time with the 32bit version I get a blue screen and every time with the 64bit version I get the "which cd drive" screen and cannot do anything but power off the machine.
I was able to do an upgrade from Vista after installing Vista SP1 but after it completed and tried to load the Win 7 OS for the first time it again blue screened.

now 8 months old macbook unibody (6,1) has a line missing in the lcd panel. Will apple replace it?
I really think it's a display issue. I've done the usuall supects (pram, reformat, repair premissions and everything).
And sometimes I get white boxes in the screen, but it passes the hardware test.
I've posted an screenshot with the line that's missing painted in red.
Edit: An screenshot of the mystery white box Edit2: Found out what is the problem of the lcd, it's one of that two polarizing filters that has fallen a little. Still not sure if apple will cover it

I have a unibody MB 2.4GHz. Every once in a while, usually after a few days of going in and out of standby, I'll get some weird glitches. If I'm scrolling a list of files or long pages, instead of it scrolling smoothly I get these random white boxes. I've also noticed at times when using TextEdit and scrolling, some lines will get messed up, sort of like two lines combine. Also I noticed today when it goes to the screensaver it also does some weird glitches. After I reboot it'll be fine until a few days later when it'll start up again. Any ideas?

My screen was suddenly filled with white random dots every where and they move when something on the screen moves.Â
These 2 screens are captured from my duo monitor setup. When I set my 2 screens to mirror each other the dots automatically mirror themselves too.Â
I don't see any dots when I boot up at the APPLE logo. Â
WHAT HAPPENED? Is my display card busted? Are there any solutions to this because it is very annoying. It shouldn't be a monitor problems coz I hardly doubt 2 monitors can get busted at the same time unless I'm that unlucky.Â

My friend has been having trouble with his 15 inch, early 2011 macbook pro. He is running OS X 10.9.4Â
It seems to work great until he streams media or connects to his school email. Â
I've taken a picture of what the screen looks like when it last froze while he checked his email:Â
Shortly after this, he had trouble booting the macbook back up. He would see either a blue screen with light and dark blue vertical lines. He would also boot up the computer and it would be stuck on the white loading screen without the apple logo.Â
I also have the console logs for the past few bootups:Â

My dual screens are flashing, sometimes fading in and out of blue. Sometimes when they flash back to my normal desktop from the blue, everything is frozen, I can't move the mouse or do anything. What is going on with this? I have a Mac Pro Tower, OS X 10.5.4, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core intel Xeon processing, 6 GB 800MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM RAM. I use this machine to run a recording studio. It is used primarily with a Pro Tools HD3 rig.

I assume it is caused by the last OS/X update. Â
Problem:
I have 8 Virtual screens and usually use one for mail, filer, and one for browser and so on. With Mission Control I used to get all the screens in the top and the collection of windows of the current screen.
Now I only get the windows of the current screen. I still can switch to the first 4 screens (Ctrl 1 ... 4 ) But not further :-(I use CMD TAB to switch now.Â

I have been having a problem with some websites, various ones. The page starts loading and I see the images load but once the page is done loading all of the images disappear and I get the little broken link icons in their place. I have no problem seeing those sites using Safari. Other sites are not a problem.
I have not done anything to tweak the pipelining and I have made sure that the box is checked to load images automatically with no exceptions. Java is also checked.
This is one of the sites that it happens on:
[URL]
but I have had the problem in us sites as well. I does not happen at all websites, just enough to make it annoying.
I do not have any unusual firefox exts just color tabs, Google Preview, Tab Mix, coolPreviews, download helper, numbered tabs, fireftp
