Thinking about trying the new app store feature with lion 10.7.Will I end up with a disc image in my downloads folder?I'm assuming I'll get the install package in some way that I can use at my convenience offline. Is this correct? What I want to make sure to avoid is anything that's a one time use or requires being online.
View 6 RepliesInstantly says not responding the second I try to run it. I deleted the install file and tried to re-download, but I get the same problem. This is the error it was giving me in console when I would try to run it and it would stop responding. Â

Some of my applications that came with OS X 10.4.11 have become damaged. I have tried two ways of replacing them from the 10.4.11 Combo installer package downloaded from Apple. I removed the faulty ones from my Applications folder and then ran the installer. None of the applications were downloaded into my Applications folder. I used Pacifist to look into the installer package. In the Applications folder within the package, all (or most) of the applications had the generic icon that shows that an application is broken or incomplete, and when I extracted two of them by means of Pacifist, they retained that icon and did not work. And, more importantly, how I can obtain working versions of iCal and Address Book?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought an SSD for my MacBook Pro and I am trying to use a Lion recovery installation USB hard drive that I created when Lion was first launched. I have successfully used this drive to install Lion on my old MacBook but I can't actually remember using it for this MacBook Pro.
When I try and do a clean install of Lion on my MacBook Pro with this new SSD, instead of installing from the drive like I have successfully done in the past, it's trying to download a 4.044 GB package from the Internet. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't estimating 5-6 hours to download and it's already failed to download twice?
I figure it's downloading it again for few possible reasons.
1. There is a more current installer available than this one I am using so its trying to download a current version.
2. I can't use this installer because it was was created on a different MacBook.
What the reason might Be?

Okay for FireFox or safari, I'm sorting through ALOT of digital pictures over the net and saving most of them, but rather then opening a page and click on the save image option is there an addon that will auto save all images, bmp, jpeg, tiff, png to a particular folder?

I know i download all the pictures if they're being displayed in some form, is my computer doing this already and saving them some place I don't know about?

I wanted to store files on a Time Capsule that is also a Time Machine target. Problem is that Time Machine eats up all the space with time.
Common workarounds are: a second USB drive attached to TC or open TC and re-partition the internal drive.
As a dirty hack, I created a disk image on TC's hard-disk and I mount it via an AppleScript. The concept is the same as Loopback devices in Linux or Solaris except for the fact that disk files cannot be shared among multiple users at the same time.
I really like Outlook for Mac. But it has a "privacy" protector or something that won't download images unless I click on "download images." How can I set it so that Outlook just downloads the damned things and leaves me alone?

I created some blank disk images to store sensitive data in; with some I created my own password and with others I had the system do it. I also made the mistake of instructing the system to remember the passwords. Remembering the passwords kind of defeats the purpose as it automatically opens the folders. I want to be prompted for a password and never have been. I want to delete the blank disk image folders, but have not found a way of doing this and then I will create them again and instruct it not to remember the passwords. How to delete or change the password settings?

I'm low on internal hard drive space. Am using Time Machine. It appears that Time Machine is creating disk images in my downloads folder, taking up even more space. Is there some way to limit or stop that process and just use Time Machine to back up.

i started download this app called aerofly fs from app store and some how my cat stepped on my mpc and it got restarted. When I search for OS X Lion in the app store as directed on Apple's site, all I get are some related books and a few random apps not the system software itself. When I click the "upgrade to Lion" buttons on Apple's site, I get a message saying Safari can't open the page because it doesn't recognize an address starting with "macappstore." I get a similar message when I use Firefox. The whole thing is very circular; the upgrade buttons lead nowhere, and the app store doesn't seem to sell Lion.
