OS X :: Cannot Download Any BitTorrent Client From Firefox
Mar 29, 2009
I recently uninstalled transmission the bitTorrent client. I did this because it was taking too long and was told uninstalling it and reinstalling it might help. When I went to reinstall it nothing happened. I clicked on the download button and the screen moved on to a plain white screen with the words transferring data at the bottom, the cursor had its little egg timer thing but it just sat there for ages. Nothing happened and after a few minutes I tried another client, same thing happened again. Or is it just me making a fool of myself? I use max OS X 10.4.11 and my ISP is bt.
When downloading small files online they will download through Speed Download. Before I installed Speed Download it would just download through the regular downloading client. How do I change it back to using the regular one as standard? I use firefox btw
I've been looking for a decent P2P software for Mac. It seems that the selection is pretty limited. I understood the best eMule client is aMule (which is not very good...) What is the best BitTorrent client? And best overall P2P software?
Just wondered what you guys feel is the best BitTorrent client, personally I think Azureus is as I think it is the most customizable and I seem to achieve the fastest speeds with it.
Since changing my ISP I have been unable to download anything through any bittorrent client. I've tried Tomato torrent, which gets stuck on the 'getting torrent info' part and Bits on Wheels, which gives me the tracking reply: 'problem communicating with web proxy server; I'm pretty sure that it's something to do with my network settings. The only problem being that I haven't a clue where to start! I have a 13" Macbook - pretty standard apart from a few upgrades to RAM and memory.
I was downloading movie from vuze and it was so slow,so I switched to transmission and now when I download and .torrent file in the desktop the icon will remain as the vuze icon when I open it in transmission it say's its a duplicate.
Whenever I use Utorrent or Bittorrent it downloads fine for about a minute then comes up with either "error invalid download state, try resuming" or "Error Permission denied" I have obviously tried resuming the torrents but the same happens in another minute or so.
I recently deleted the app speed download and didn't use the uninstaller so I'm worried my browsers may be looking for that and it's not there. I'm not getting any popups or anything when I try to download something, safari just goes to a black/grey screen and nothing happens. Please help!!
I want to change the download settings of Firefox for certain types of files. For example right now I have any .docx files to just download. I rather change it to always just open since it saves it when it does that anyway. How can I do this?
some time ago, I accidently deleted firefox off my desktop and have been unable to download it from the net since. It is an older ibook G4 I have, maybe this has something to do with it?But I did have firefox before so surely this is not the reason. What happenned first was I would download it,put into applications and drag below which seemed to work fine, until I clicked on it and it dissappeared?Could'nt figure it out..? So I kept trying and trying and the same thing..Now when I go to download it,It saves as dmg?but fails to open saying it (failed to mount)? It doesn't even have the firefox symbol? Does anyone know what is wrong and why can I not get firefox back on my desktop.I have another browser Opera which is fine, but I need firefox specificly for working on my website. If anyone might have any answers why this is not working I would really appreciate it.Its Mac os x version:10.3.9
I installed the Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8. Since that time I've had problems with WebEx and a file transfer site I use. WebEx gives me a "Sorry, you do not have java download client enabled." everytime I try and start or join a meeting in Safari, Chrome, and FireFox. The file transfer site won't let me log in using either Safari or Chrome. I've been able to log in using FireFox, but I haven't tested if everything is work all right. I went to the Java preferences app and changed the order or 32/64 bit. I also thought perhaps some cached files could have been corrupted so I deleted the cached files. But other than that it doesn't seem like there is anything there that does much.
After being threatened to get hacked, I've decided to clear out all the emails on the mailserver (gmail's online mail client). But before I do, is there a way to download all the emails from my mail server from all time? I only set Leopard's Mail client up on March 8th, so I only have emails from March 8th and after on Leopard. I want to have email from since I registered my Gmail account years ago.
Okay for FireFox or safari, I'm sorting through ALOT of digital pictures over the net and saving most of them, but rather then opening a page and click on the save image option is there an addon that will auto save all images, bmp, jpeg, tiff, png to a particular folder?
I found some older stuff like this but nothing for MAC.
I know i download all the pictures if they're being displayed in some form, is my computer doing this already and saving them some place I don't know about?
I tried out iGetter and Downloader as download managers. I then removed them both. However when I now click on a download click nothing happens. I suspect that there is some remnant of one or both which tries to call the program but can't find it.
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 and i recently had to reset everything to reset the username and password so i can change things because it still had the old username and password from the person i bought it from. When i did that it deleted safari, so i used firefox. Now when i go to firefox to search for safari to download it again, firefox freezes up and won't let me download safari. What should i do to get internet access again?
I was downloading a large 1.3GB file and when I paused it and resumed it again, it stopped working. All I have now is the .part file that is 999MB. Is there anyway that I can resume downloading this file from the 999MB point, so I don't have to download from the start again?
my safari and firefox wouldnt start download some links automatically. for examples some megaupload links and some website like this one [URL]. when u click on 'UNSUPPORTED TETHERED REDSN0W - REDSN0W LITE' firefox or safari should start the download automatically, put mine wouldnt. i have to right click and choose 'save file as' to download the file. i have a friend, she's using the same spec macbook as me and she also uses the same wifi as me, when i gave her the megaupload link which i can't download and also the website [URL], she didnt have any problem downloading them.
I am using os 10.7.3 and a couple of weeks ago I found I can no longer download pdf files. Instead nothing happens or it try so open in a document viewer, for example: [URL].What do I do? I have not made any changes except update os 10.7 and adobe reader. Other computers using snowlepoard down load just fine!
I have a mass amount of files to download listed on a Web page. When I click the link, the file downloads, but the link on my downloads page never changes colors to note that the link has been visited.
Is this a bug and is there a work around for my HTML page? Currently I'm using javascript to change link colors.
I am trying to uninstall Bittorrent from my IMac. I dragged the app to the trash and it seemed to have gone. Now the bittorrent icon is stuck in the dock and I cant shutdown my imac. I have tried dragging the icon to the trash but it just wont go.
I recently discovered a BitTorrent of great interest and after reading a little, found that I had a few questions that need answering before I dip my toe in to the unknown.
Q - is a BitTorrent client the same as an FTP client, and if not, what exactly is the difference? Q - in looking to install a BitTorrent client that is both easy to configure and use, which of Fetch, Transmission, Vuze, BitTorrent etc would you recommend and why? Q - can you point me to any other references or sites that may shed further light on what at face value I find to be quite a mystery?
Would anybody be kind enough as to guide me through downloading a .torrent file? I've tried several times using BitTorrent, and only recieve error messages and whatnot. I have an imac G5 with OS X version 10.4.6
There's a bug in Transmission (the torrent program) that causes Macs to slowly crash and die. But it's really sneaky because it doesn't appear to be caused by Transmission, even though it actually is. I thought this was important enough that everyone here needs to know about it because I'm an expert Mac user and even I didn't figure out that Transmission was the culprit for quite some time. I thought the problem was a sign of my Mac breaking. What happens is your net connection stops working and you stop being able to switch open programs and/or you can't quit applications and you can't restart you computer without resorting to holding down the power button until it restarts, or other similar nuclear problems.
