Just wondering if anyone uses Papers out there and I am with a query. I have a subscription to the PRS journal and was hoping to have papers auto download the articles each month. Can this be done?
View 1 RepliesOkay for FireFox or safari, I'm sorting through ALOT of digital pictures over the net and saving most of them, but rather then opening a page and click on the save image option is there an addon that will auto save all images, bmp, jpeg, tiff, png to a particular folder?
I found some older stuff like this but nothing for MAC.
I know i download all the pictures if they're being displayed in some form, is my computer doing this already and saving them some place I don't know about?
what are some good apps for those of us who are going into college and need things to organize homework and what not as well as writing research papers?

I would like it to have some of the features of a modern blog such as incorporating pictures, video, etc., but I would like everything stored locally. I am experimenting with Journler [URL] but there are some things I don't like about it, and since I plan on using it regularly for years to come, I want it to be as perfect as possible. One thing I would definitely like is the option to change the date on entries since many of my entries are in retrospect. Also, it looks like Journler is going defunct.

I work as a consultant and I read articles and books all over the web that contain information to which I'd like to come back once in a while. I'm looking for some software in which I could store the said articles in a way that make it possible to search them with keywords. Being able to write small summaries would be a great bonus and I'd also like to be able to keep references to paper books and articles. I tried using Delicious and as good as it is as an online solution I need something more robust and that I can consult offline. I'll probably be copying and pasting articles to make sure to be able to read them once the links are broken.

Not sure if this is a "beta" problem or something that would have happened even I were not on the BETA when I went to delete subscribe calendars. I have been subscribed to calendars for some time. Then I went to delete some calendars I've subscribed to (my wife's). For some reason I am unable to delete the calendars I'm subscribed to. They do temporarily act as if they are deleted, but when I start up ical again, they reappear.
It seems that it's not truly removing them from the CALDAV server (or wherever they may be saved on MobileMe). I've attempted to delete them, then delete Plist files, etc. etc. I have deleted all of my calendars and reset them up, hoping this would trigger something...no hope. Any ideas? Any way to access the server that seems to be bringing these back each time I restart? The only reason I think they are on a "server" is because I deleted all of my calendars and they did delete, then added my MobileMe account back into iCal and they reappeared again.
I use iCal together with MobileMe and I have noticed that none of my subscribed calendars sync with MobileMe/iPhone. I installed Delicious Library a couple of weeks ago (which places a subscribed calendar in iCal) and that syncs but not my others, such as "Birthdays" (through AddressBook) or my RememberTheMilk ones
View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, I've subscribed to a couple of calendars in iCal, including birthdays from Address Book, but I'm completely stumped. If I want to receive an alert when one of these items is coming up, then what do I do?
I don't want to rely on alerts being added at to the subscription itself, I want to be able to customise on my end when I get an alert for an entry, and when or what that alert will be. Is this possible? I don't see any options for it. If not, anyone know of any good alternative calendar applications that are like iCal?
What programs are avialble for writing papers on mac? Are they free? What programs are their to make presentations are they similiar to power point?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a HP Compaq Tablet PC at work every day. It's a convertible tablet/laptop. I use Windows Journal to write with a pen stylus onto a notebook-lined template or to a graph paper template. I just hate my work computer.
I'm seriously thinking of buying my own Mac notebook and using an external tablet or slate by Wacom. (or purchasing a Modbook)
Is there any Mac software similar to Windows Journal?
I've looked at Evernote, Journler, Circus Ponies Notebook, SoHo notes, Zengobi Curio, The Omni Group, MacJournal. None of them are similar to WIndows Journal. Circus Ponies Notebook comes closest.
I want only select episodes of some podcasts, not every single daily episode, even if I have to one by one select podcast episodes to download. Is there a way to subscribe but not automatically download all episodes? Version 10.4 or 10.5 itunes.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA week ago iTunes just stopped downloading any podcast that I am subscribed to. If I go to the podcast section of the iTunes Store, find a podcast that I am already subscribed to and click the download an episode, everything works fine. It's just that iTunes refuses to refresh any podcasts. This is not iTunes saying that I haven't listened to a podcast in a while would I like to resume; this is I select a podcast, ask it to refresh and nothing happens. Same if I ask iTunes to refresh all podcasts.

In a previous contact software program I have used for years, the first letter of names, streets, and cities, were automatically capitalized as I typed them in. Unfortunately, that software does not work under Lion and the developer is out of business. Because of that, I am trying to convert to Address Book. I can't find the ability to have that same thing happen in Address Book. Is there something I can turn on in Preferences or some other obscure window? My old contact software also automatically filled in cities, names, or states that I previously entered. Great time saver but doesn't seem to exist in Address Book.

I don't know if this is properly autofill or autocomplete - the two overlap too much anyway so I'm not wasting brain cells trying to come up with a distinction that makes sense to non-engineers. ANYWAY. Here's the point.
I'm on my bank website. My login is xtnjohnson -- just like here. Only I mistyped it once, so in autofill/autocomplete (whichever it is), I get a little drop-down showing two options: xtnjohnson or xtnjohson.
I want to delete only the second option. I recall at sometime finding a very simple way that involved highlighting the offending entry and hitting either control-delete, shift-delete, command-delete, or function-delete, only I can't seem to get any of those combinations to work. And of course I can't find the thread anymore.
The solution did *not* involve dealing with the autofill preferences in *any* way -- I've seen that option and it doesn't help (a) because there's no quick way to find the website where the problem is occurring (my list is long), (b) even when I go through my list, I don't see my bank's url, (c) the place for entering my login appears to be in something like JavaScript, so I'm not sure it'd be tracked in one of those lists, and (d) I don't know that this is properly an "autofill" problem anyway.

After I erase the hard disk it shows 74.5gb free, almost. It says there is 42.3mb of space being used by 2 files which I understand are used for read write or partitioning or whatever.
When I then leave disk utility and go to the actual installer, the destination disk (untitled - 74.5gb) shows only 73.9gb free space. What is taking up an additional 500mb of space on the hard drive?
Apple support told me that somehow the disk has been altered and I lost space on the disk or I am now using a seperate partition that isn't showing up. Disk utility shows only one partition with 74.5gb free space. He told me I can find information about how to 'merge' the disk on the apple support section under troubleshooting articles for disk utility. I have been unable to locate this information.
Does anyone know of an application to automaticly backup selection folders to an FTP location on a schedule or something of the sort? I get 1 GB of server space from my college, and I'd like to have some app that runs in the background to send my Documents folder up to the server once every two weeks. It would be rather handy.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy computer stopped connecting automatically to my airport. I have it as remembering the password, and the password is saved in keychains. In the network system preferences, I have it set as a preferred network. However, every time I wake my computer up or bring it back to the house it says it can't find any of my networks, and asks me to choose from a list (which contains my airport). When I click on it, the password is already there, and I tell it to remember this network, but it never does.

Plex Media Server auto-refreshes wonderfully. Just looking for a script or workflow or app or service that will automatically add my new media in my iTunes Library to the iTunes program every 24 hours or so.
Does the Mail application have to be running or in the background for the Auto setting to function in getting my email? If so I guess it can't do this function like the iPhone? I am new to the Mac, so sorry if I sound uniformed.
