View 12 RepliesThe new version won't remove auto-fill user id and password for any entry. And it's caused problems logging into some Websites by entering a bogus one the Website can't recognize. It's a, "Huh?" for this update.

I'm making a book of my holiday, its going great until I came to the map. The pointer always starts in Sydney, a hassle but I can work with it. My problem is as we went to Seymour in Victoria Australia, I type in Seymour and I'm given a dozen USA possibilities but I'm offered a search for my Seymour option. I take this, starting in Sydney and I drag the pointer to Seymour in Victoria (It says Seymour on the map) but in my book it changes the name to Mitchell. It does this for a number of stops. I could probably cope with one but when you go to 50 towns and you're showing off your clever Mac and all people go is I've never heard of Mitchell wheres that and I'm sure you can guess what my answer is, I don't know I've never been there. Particularly when the photo has Seymour Railway station on the photo.

So here is my issue. I want to transfer all my personal data from my HOME user account on my MacBook to a NEW user account on the SAME MacBook. The reason is that my Microsoft Office has a certain issue that is only solvable by starting up in a new user. So now I want to transfer all the personality, data, files, and all that from my home user to the new user on the same computer. After that, I want to delete the old Home user and make the new user the default home user account.
I am trying to clean up my Safari autofill forms in preferences. I can delete some of them, but not the ones I have no need for, like from an old email. Â They are in the User Names and Passwords section. I have duplicates, and some with old email addresses attached that I would like to clean up.

I would like to know if there is any way I can set Firefox to shut down my mac once all my downloads finish? I was able to find one plug-in for Firefox that will shut down the system after downloading but it's for Windows. One more question does anyone know if this is a feature in another browser?

I'm working on a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger. I've got one admin account setup and 5 or so standard accounts. I'm configuring a connection to a shared folder on a network server on the standard accounts and I wanted to connect to that share using an account id that is DIFFERENT than the standard account id. I enter that id and the correct password and I check "save password in keychain" (or whatever that check box says) and I get prompted to enter the "keychain password" to unlock the keychain. The problem is, I never setup a keychain password for the standard user account. I'v tried the password for the administrator account (even though I can't specify the admin id anywhere) and I've tried the password for the standard user account, neither of which work.
However, I can still get successfully connected to the shared folder. I just don't want the user to have to enter the password each time they login.
Additionally, after going through this, Safari is now asking for a keychain password for the "login" keychain when it first starts up and loads the default Apple.com home page.
How do I get Safari to present auto-fill options in text fields like Firefox can.
Seems like a cookies thing but I think not because it presents me with all previous names I've used on other website's text fields before.
For example in Firefox if I go to sites I haven't visited before and I'm asked to type in my new username, as soon as I type the first letter, Firefox gives me options from previous text fields I've filled in before all over the net and unrelated to the site I'm on.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just have a little question about starting my MacBook Pro, nothing too important, just trying to further streamline my OS X experience.
Currently, I am using the Schedule... feature in the Energy Saver portion of Sys Prefs (which is, oddly enough, represented by a energy hogging incandescent) to start my MBP each weekday, then sleep it three minutes later in case I decide not to use it. This is useful in that it cuts 30 seconds out of the startup/login process, but it only takes the process halfway (it doesn't log in). I could enable auto login to complete the process, but then my password would be rendered ineffective, and others who occasionally use my laptop would have instantaneous access to my account and files. Is there any way I can auto login then promptly lock the computer and head back to the login screen? Is there a scheduling application I could use to do the same?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have close to 30 sites in my keychain, but one will not remember login info. When I had first joined the site, it worked fine. Unfortunately it had not synched my login info using the cloud to my iPod touch. I had of course forgotten the recommended suggested password (letters, numbers & symbols), and so had a password request sent to my phone. Again unfortunately the cloud did not resend the password to my computer, so I just ended up creating my own easy to remember password. It was recalling the strange passwords, but wouldn't put my password into my mac. It also began to stop asking to save passwords from that site altogether. I ran keychain first aid, & I trashed the Keychain Access.plist. I didn't reset my Default Key Chain button, because I don't to loose all of my saved info.
