Feb 11, 2010I am planning on buying the new iMac, but i'm not sure how to move my documents, music, and photos to it. i do not own an external hard drive and i'm not willing to pay for the one-to-one class. is it possible to move the information between the panther os and the new snow leopard? what are some ways that i can move my files?

Jan 6, 2011With all the excitement around the $79 price of Aperture on the new mac app store, I'm thinking about getting it, but wondering if I can then ditch iPhoto? I looked at Apple's website about Aperture and see that it seems to be iPhoto+ with all the features of iPhoto plus more. But I'm wondering about the integration of it with iOS devices, etc. If I move everything to Aperture, will I still be able to use photos in my mac's screensaver, or on my Apple TV, or sync to my iPhone....all of these seem to tie to iPhoto, but if you install Aperture, do they then work with it?

Jul 19, 2010I currently sync my iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on the XP box. My goals are to move all my songs, apps, movies/TV shows etc. over to my new mac. I want to stop using the XP machine all together.
In terms of steps. I'm thinking I need to do this:Ensure both XP and Mac are running the most current version of iTunes - if not upgrade them Sync and back-up each device one last time on the XP machine Transfer the data (via the apple FAQ above) Sync each device with the mac? Will the Mac recognize the devices just like the XP machine did? Will I need to transfer purchases from each device?
OS X :: Moving/opening IWeb Site On New IMac?

So i put the domain file on a USB stick and opened it on the iMac.
When iWeb opened I selected the file as the domain.
Now when I open iWeb I still have to choose a domain.. It still pops up. This:

OS X :: Moving Files From IMac To Maxtor Harddrive?
Jun 7, 2009The case is this: I have a 200 GB Maxtor harddrive onto witch i want to copy all the video, zip and other files from my imac. I have allredy copied most of them by using a memory stick and taking it over to a PC and from there over to the Maxtor. But the files i have left on the mac is to large for the memory stick.
The Mac can only read, and not wright the Maxtor. But i just can't understand that i can just copy the files from the Mac to the Maxtor via a PC, but not directly?? isnt there a way to copy the files directly to the Maxtor?
I don't know much about filesystems but on my imac it says someting with RAID and aufofs. I have also understood that i can format the Maxtor to FAT-32, but some of the files are greater than 4 GB, so that wont work right?
OS X :: IMac Freezes - Only Mouse Cursor Moving
Jul 3, 2009I am be watching a movie on my iMac, or just do other tasks, and everything would all of a sudden freeze up on me, with the mouse cursor the only thing moving around. The system wont let me do anything, and I have to hold down the power button to shut it off.

I am looking for advice on the correct way to move this to my new machine. Do I simply plug them in, and OSX does the rest? The data is very valuable, and I don't really have enough space to copy it all / back it up before i move it. Being a mirror, it is essentially is my backup.

IMac PPC :: Why Mouse Won't Work - Cursor Is Not Moving?
Apr 23, 2012I just got a used iMac (running 10.5.8) with the metal keyboard and mouse. I unpacked the box, plugged in the computer, hooked up the keyboard and mouse.The computer screen came up. I can move around a little via the keyboard's arrow keys but the cursor will not move via the mouse. I got it to move a little by swiping my thumb across the back but that is it. I switched my older, working, keyboard and mouse to the newer machine and it didn't work there. I switched the newer metal keyboard and mouse my older iMac and they worked just fine. What could be going on with the new (but used) computer? I have tried every port for the mouse, keyboard as well as every back port but nothing moves the cursor.

It has loads of music and about 12000 photos on it and the disk is getting full.I also have an iPhone 4s.I am treating myself to a new iMac with 1 Tb drive.I guess it would be sensible to move most photos and music to the new iMac.(I have a 500Gb hard drive I use to back up the macAir)
Re photostream - does it store photos on the Macbook itself? Can I set up my phone to send photos to the iMac instead of the current macbook air? How?How do I keep duplicates of some of the photos on the macbook?

Dec 8, 2014On restart the mouse moves but does not click. I thought it was the mouse and bought new one. After 24 hours same issue with the new mouse. Bought a new Apple Mouse yesterday and this morning same issue again. Usually after a wait the clicking becomes available.

Aug 12, 2010I know there are some other threads on this, but none seem to have a definitive answer. So this issue happened on my previous MacBook Pro with Leopard and then again with Snow Leopard. Now, it's happening again on my brand new 27" iMac. Every time I restart and bring up the dashboard, my weather widget loads and then jumps down a quarter of an inch or so on the screen. How can I stop this from happening and why hasn't Apple fixed this after 2 years?

Apr 14, 2012Have a large iTunes library on my iPhone. I want to migrate all of it to our new iMac (Intel using 10.7). I have two accounts on the iMac, mine and my wife's, which have been set up to share the music (iTunes) library. When I sync my iPhone into my account on the iMac in order to sync the music library it gives me a message that if I sync the music all the items on the iPhone will be replaced with the music library on the computer. However, there is no music library on the iMac as yet. How do I get the iPhone music on the iMac so my wife and I can share the library?

Every time I move my mouse quickly left or right (i.e. if I am just moving it out of the way of my keyboard), the action causes the screen to close down so that I have to re-enter my password to get back to the pages I had open. It doesn't close down the computer, but puts it in sleep mode.

Aug 23, 201410.8 and 10.9 become a headache copying/moving files/folders between disks. After download selected images to my Imac from cards I used to move all of them to a local network backup disk (attached to a linux OS)
I don't do this anymore from a year ago: annoying warnings like "the file ... is in use" (not in use, even had been downloaded) stopped move; repeated procedure with the rest of the files included the 'used' one, over and over again and finally, after 12 times or so all files had moved. 100 files to move, stop, 80 files to move, stop, 60 files.......
Same problem moving files between disks attached to the same iMac.'You have to provide an admin password...." -> Continue Password set and again 'File ... is in use' (not in use, it is just backup file)Reseting the Mac. Worse
.'You have to provide an admin password...." No 'Continue' option, just only 'Ok' that will do.... nothing.My solution: Terminal: sudo mv source target

After I change my OS from Mavericks to Yosemite, moving files between folders is very slow.
For example, if I move one jpg file in Desktop to Pictures folder (or just any other folders like Trash), it takes about 3 seconds.
When I was still using Mavericks, it made that Ding sound and transferred files right away. However, now, although it makes the Ding sound right away, the file is still there for 3 seconds.
I tried to clean up my mac using many apps, but they never fixed this problem.
I've also tried what I saw on this one thread. OS X File Transfers Very Slow
Go->Connect to Server then type "cifs://server-address" but it says there is a problem and did nothing. (maybe different issue)

Jun 28, 2014My Macbook Pro from 2007 won't boot anymore, turns out to have NVIDIA GPU problem. It ran on Snow Leopard, but I can't enter it anymore to upgrade. I'm trying to move mail to my new Imac and have a TM backup on the desktop of it. I followed this [URL]..... Mail folder and plist are now copied in the same locations, new original Mail folder is parked on desktop because I didn't dare 'fuse' the two, let alone replace it with my old mail folder.
When opening the Mail app. I get the permissions message that I should set 'read and write' permissions on the Mail folder, but it says the info Mail wants to use is in the mail folder in the Backup folder, although I provided it with a copy in its own Library. The permissions via show info were ok, but I redid them and still the error keeps popping up.
Questions:
Why won't it use the folder from its own library?
Could this be because my previous version is too old?
I can't enter my mail or mail addresses, years of data there..
