On restart the mouse moves but does not click. I thought it was the mouse and bought new one. After 24 hours same issue with the new mouse. Bought a new Apple Mouse yesterday and this morning same issue again. Usually after a wait the clicking becomes available.

I have a new iMac with mouse. Every time I move my mouse quickly left or right (i.e. if I am just moving it out of the way of my keyboard), the action causes the screen to close down so that I have to re-enter my password to get back to the pages I had open. It doesn't close down the computer, but puts it in sleep mode.

I unpacked the box, plugged in the computer, hooked up the keyboard and mouse.The computer screen came up. I can move around a little via the keyboard's arrow keys but the cursor will not move via the mouse. I got it to move a little by swiping my thumb across the back but that is it. I switched my older, working, keyboard and mouse to the newer machine and it didn't work there. I switched the newer metal keyboard and mouse my older iMac and they worked just fine. What could be going on with the new (but used) computer? I have tried every port for the mouse, keyboard as well as every back port but nothing moves the cursor.

well this problem recently developed probably within the last three months. Occasionally, while using my macbook pro my cursor will begin to make slight movements on its own. However, sometimes the movements are larger and can involve the cursor clicking and remaining 'clicked' on something.
Attached to my macbook is a wireless logitech keyboard, and a Razer Copperhead mouse. Prior to the copperhead I had a logitech mx518 but the problem still remained. I do not know what causes my cursor to move on its own and the issue does seem to occur when the mouse is unplugged as well. There is no dust or particles interfering with the optical sensor on the mouse and I am using a standard, clean, cloth pad. I just want to know what to do to correct this issue.
When my macbook is awoken from standby the trackpad moves the cursor around as normal but will not respond to a tap or a click. A restart won't get it working again, but a little later it will start working once more. At the moment I can't identify what gets it going, possibly by clicking using the magic mouse but can't be certain of that.

I have an iMac that I have a second display hooked up to it. I can move an app (say Safari for example) from one display to another with my Magic Mouse. 10.8 and 10.9 become a headache copying/moving files/folders between disks. After download selected images to my Imac from cards I used to move all of them to a local network backup disk (attached to a linux OS)
I don't do this anymore from a year ago: annoying warnings like "the file ... is in use" (not in use, even had been downloaded) stopped move; repeated procedure with the rest of the files included the 'used' one, over and over again and finally, after 12 times or so all files had moved. 100 files to move, stop, 80 files to move, stop, 60 files.......

After I change my OS from Mavericks to Yosemite, moving files between folders is very slow.
For example, if I move one jpg file in Desktop to Pictures folder (or just any other folders like Trash), it takes about 3 seconds.
When I was still using Mavericks, it made that Ding sound and transferred files right away. However, now, although it makes the Ding sound right away, the file is still there for 3 seconds.
I tried to clean up my mac using many apps, but they never fixed this problem.
I've also tried what I saw on this one thread. OS X File Transfers Very Slow
Go->Connect to Server then type "cifs://server-address" but it says there is a problem and did nothing. (maybe different issue)

My Macbook Pro from 2007 won't boot anymore, turns out to have NVIDIA GPU problem. It ran on Snow Leopard, but I can't enter it anymore to upgrade. I'm trying to move mail to my new Imac and have a TM backup on the desktop of it. I followed this [URL]..... Mail folder and plist are now copied in the same locations, new original Mail folder is parked on desktop because I didn't dare 'fuse' the two, let alone replace it with my old mail folder.
When opening the Mail app. I get the permissions message that I should set 'read and write' permissions on the Mail folder, but it says the info Mail wants to use is in the mail folder in the Backup folder, although I provided it with a copy in its own Library. The permissions via show info were ok, but I redid them and still the error keeps popping up.
Questions:
Why won't it use the folder from its own library?
Could this be because my previous version is too old?
I can't enter my mail or mail addresses, years of data there..
My wired Mighty Mouse has started to click a lot. It is very annoying. Sounds like a small relay closing randomly. If I lift it up off the pad it stops. Has anyone else had this happen?
View 2 Replies View Relatedit just stops clicking. It "moves" fine (moves the cursor around), the red light is on, everything seems to be working. I even unplug it and plug it back in. No clicking. Finally, I have to restart the computer (by holding down the power button on the back of the iMac) and then it will work again.
View 4 Replies View Related My work computer id acting up. I am running Mac OS X, using a standard, single-button mouse. The problem is, it doesn't want to simply click once and double clicks at random times. I'm not sure when it will happen next, but it's getting annoying. Also, it seems the computer is having trouble highlighting text. When I scroll over text to highlight, it will not stay highlighted. This makes quick copying and pasting impossible.
Keep in mind, this is a work computer and I would not be able to directly manipulate files. Also, our "IT" person usually guesses until she gets it right.
Note: I know that there are probably threads related to this topic, but I did not find any in my searches. I guess the forums match the machines when it comes to not finding what you need.
My 500gb iMac (purchased April 2010) is about at capacity. 350gb of space is taken up by home movies (.mov) in iMovie. I bought an external hard drive and have moved about 200gb over to that drive.
After transfer, I deleted the original Events off iMovie and emptied the trash. I checked in both iMovie and in Finder and no longer see those files present on the Mac.
I thought this was going smooth and everything worked perfectly, but….when i went to check how much storage space i created on the Mac, the amount of available space barely budged (i moved 200gb of data to the new drive and i created about 30gb of space on the Mac).
Are these "deleted" files hidden somewhere and I need to go delete from somewhere else? How do I make sure I get back the storage that i need?
I just bought a MacBook Pro and had Word 2007 installed. Double clicking the mouse on a word in my document will not cause it to be highlighted.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOccasionally if I click an icon (usually on my desktop) it'll just "stick" to my mouse pointer, it'll appear as if I am still clicking and holding the icon, and it drags around. I also can't trash, drop or do anything with it. Other programs on the computer can't be used either because it's still using that icon. I'm forced to use keyboard commands to restart Finder, which works until I click any other icon again.

I had this problem before in Leopard (with different mouse) but now it seems the problem has returned with snow leopard. has anyone else had this problem? I checked the mouse properties and there's nothing strange there. I also don't have custom drivers installed. Just default snow leopard drivers.
