So, I recently bought a MacBook Pro and set up the iCloud feature. I've also had a iPhone for a few years and I have tons of photos and documents, etc on it that I would like to put in the cloud. Is it possible to move these files into my cloud, or will it only put new things into the cloud?

When I Upgraded to iLife 08 from 06 it trashed my iweb files and all my websites had to be rebuilt. I now have an huge photo library, lots more websites and am worried that upgrading with all my photos etc on my mac might kill or lose my data. Has anyone had any problems upgrading in this fashion or should I be ok to just jump in? I cannot afford to lose my websites and photos right now!

View 2 Replies View RelatedBecause my email address has changed, I changed my Apple ID (on my Mac) and set a new password. ICloud messages keep popping up, on the Mac and Ipad telling me it cannot sync and asking me to log in, but providing the old Apple ID in the prompt. I have tried the old password, the new password and a lot of other words, but cannot log in to make any changes. It offers the option of resetting the password for the old Apple ID, but I don't see the point in doing this. I want to get into iCloud somehow, make it use the new Apple ID and do this on my iPad also. I do not use a mobile phone as part of this network.

I changed my Apple ID and iCloud ID today. But when I use iCal on my May 2011 iMac running Lion, the iCloud calendar shows up in iCal; however, I keep getting an error message asking for a password for the previous iCloud ID. I have removed the iCloud calendar from iCal twice and reinstalled it with the current ID and password. Everything works; but I still get the dialogue box asking for the passwork for the previous ID. It requires me to cancel it several times before it final disappears. How do I remove the previous ID so I won't get the error message?

With all the excitement around the $79 price of Aperture on the new mac app store, I'm thinking about getting it, but wondering if I can then ditch iPhoto? I looked at Apple's website about Aperture and see that it seems to be iPhoto+ with all the features of iPhoto plus more. But I'm wondering about the integration of it with iOS devices, etc. If I move everything to Aperture, will I still be able to use photos in my mac's screensaver, or on my Apple TV, or sync to my iPhone....all of these seem to tie to iPhoto, but if you install Aperture, do they then work with it?

I have a 10.6.8 operating system. I can not retrieve mail from my usual mailbox~~@mac.com. Every time I want to see my mail, I have to go to the MobileMe ending notifcation notice, sign in, and see my mail on icloud. I don't want to do this every time. I moved from MobileMe to iCloud using the automated wizard. Since then, I've been unable to send or receive emails using Apple Mail.
I've sent emails to my .me account from Gmail 12 hours ago but it hasn't arrived. Sending emails from my .me account results in the following error message "The server returned the error: The server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” refused to allow a connection on port 143."

I understand that the cloud keeps my contacts, calendars, etc, synced -- and I'm no longer syncing with my Mac.
But, here's what I'm not sure about.
If I have a video on my Mac and want to move it to the iPad, I used to place it in iTunes and do a USB sync. Can I do the same thing now to move the video?
If so, do I simply make sure that the sync settings for contacts, calendars, etc are turned off? Or does it not matter?

Currently, I read that moving to iCloud will delete all of my Smart Mailboxes. I have about 40 of them and I own a business and this feature helps me organize my emails. I haven't moved to iCloud for this reason. They say the deadline is June 30th. Is there any way that Apple will leave this feature in once I move to iCloud?

I think I blew up my MobileMe. I had recently moved my Mac over to Lion, so was ready to make the switch from Me to iCloud. I found the process somewhat confusing over the course of things (which took place in stages over several weeks). Somehow I ended up with two AppleIDs. Fortunately, all my purchases were with the old, main one. But when I moved to iCloud, it moved it with the new one. I ended up deleting the iCloud new accound off my iPhone and iPad and reinstating the original ID there. But probably lost all that was in my Me account (I think a couple of photos and some files that were on the iDisk). I'm mostly posting this so others will possibly check their accounts before making the move to iCloud. Others might not be so lucky to not lose anything important in this switch.
