I was hoping someone here might know how/if I can use iMovie to create a presentation of various movie clips?
I don't know if it can be done with iMovie, but I've seen videos people have made by piecing together different scenes from movies, sometimes adding music... that sort of thing.
If iMovie can't do it, is there another program I can use? And if iMovie can, is it pretty simple to do a project like that?
I have iLife '06, I think. It's either '06 or '07. I also have Flash and Powerpoint. I don't know if those could work.
As you can tell, I'm a complete greenhorn when it comes to this.
I have loads of AVI files taken with our stillshot camera, and loads with our Panasonic semi professional 3 chip whatever they are called video camera.
It seems, or seemed perhaps that AVI's can't be loaded or edited in iMovie(I am also not interested in using quicktime etc, I want to try and stick with iMovie)
Can you import the AVI files as well as the "real" format clips into iMovie and then edit all together to make your home movie?
I recently pulled all of my old home movies from VHS's to the computer with a roxio software. I have them in iMovie '09 and have edited them and what not. Next I wish to import them into iDVD to burn them to share. First off is there a good amount of video to export at a time? because I have massive amounts. Probably 10-15 clips of about 2-3 hours of movie a piece. Also when I go to export just one clip it eventually quits on me. Is this because they are too long or too big? They do measure up to be between 10-15gb.

I have Itunes 9 on both systems.I have read the guide and threads and done some research but there seems to be different types of methods from just copying the folder to more complex. Alot of the instructions aren't for Itunes 9 specifically so I don't want to screw this up.

I want a free or "cheep" Program to make drawing for a book project I am working on. I want a program that have templates to help in the making of the drawing...not much of an artist but want to make a cartoon of a couple of characters I need. Do not have the funding to hire an artist. Have not checked out programs in years in this area.

My question is what is preventing the user from installing a time machine restore of another mac on a new one thus giving the new mac the same expensive software for free?
Example: I got a refurbished 2009 i7 iMac and would like to have Photoshop on my iMac too, it currently resides on my MBP. Could I simply do a time machine back up from my MBP to my iMac and get the application pro bono? Just used Migration Assistant and it worked flawlessly! Much better than using time machine.
I need to move the music and movies from my MacBook Air (original) to an external hard drive, after I do this, do I create a new music folder and media folder on my computer to load music/movies in via the dedicatd external drive and then would I be able to move the newly imported to the external drive which would be my main site of storage?

I just downloaded a free trial of Aimersoft Dvd Creator. It seems simple to use to burn avi to dvd. However it seems like you can only use a DVD5 or DVD9 blank discs.
Are those the discs I need anyways to burn movies or is this program seem to be very limited on what disc to use?
I have transfered my movies to my new iMac and am using Toast to burn movies as I previously did on my macbook. It won't load ANY movies, saying that they are missing the XVID codec.

Each time I have my MacBook Pro up and running, with my Apple Mail app running and I connect via FaceTime to someone, the mail program starts making tons of nosie as if it's sending and receiving mail over and over and over and over again. I have a 2/2011 MBP 15" maxed out.

I was wondering if there is a Movies/TV Shows Cover Art/Tagging Mac program similar to Tuneup for music? I already have the movies in my iTunes library but they don't have the proper tags or cover art. Its even more important for episodes, I don't want to have to go through every one and edit everything. Please let me know if there is a program to do the abovementioned just like tuneup.

I want to create a simple flash movie (I don't yet own or know how to use Adobe Flash). Pretty flowers in the background, inspirational music, passages from the Bible or something fading in an out... you know the schtick. Maybe convert it to a screen saver.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRight now I have a white MB from '06 (still in fantastic condition) that's pretty much always connected to a 2TB hard drive, which holds all my iTunes media - 50k songs, 30+ movies, about 50 episodes of TV, not to mention all my other media NOT on iTunes.
In a few days I'll be getting a 13" MBP. I'm not concerned transferring all my documents and pictures to the new mac, but I am concerned with having to re-setup my iTunes library. Is there a way where I can move preference files and the iTunes library list to the new MBP without having to start from scratch and basically drag everything into iTunes and wait 6 hours?
So I've been getting the "Your startup disk is almost full" warning notice pretty frequently for about a couple months now, and I just keep deleting files and applications. It's gotten to the point now that I have nothing else to do delete because I basically use most of the stuff I have on my computer, unless there is something I'm missing. I was thinking, there has to be an easier way to clean out your startup disk, I just don't know how.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to bring up a 'form' to do a search*, so I can type in, for example, start and/ or end dates for the files I am interested in, or types of files, or a word in a file, or a part of the folder 'tree' its beneath, etc?? I know I can do this in spotlight but then I have to know, remember or lookup all the syntax and get it correct, much too much hassle for infrequent searches.
I'm presuming someone must have come up with a simple app that front ends a potentially complex spotlight query with a form? Or is there even a native facility to do this in OSX?
* Like you can in WinXP for example, not that I'm trolling, its just that it was sooo much easier in XP and I'm hoping I'm missing something obvious :-(
I downloaded this tonight to give it a shot. New to Mac, this place is great with all your suggestions for applications to try out I love how much easier it is to "try" applications on my macbook than my old windows pc, the install and then uninstalling is so much quicker Anyway- I found a couple icons and changed them. LOVE this application! But, I noticed the ones that I changed, it only changed them in my applications folder--- when I open a program and it's in my dock, it does not reflect the changed icon.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a 1TB external HDD when I got my mac back in August. I use it for Time Machine and I store all my songs that I use for DJ/karaoke. When I first got it and I had it plugged in, I could search a lot easier than I can now. It would search just like you can when searching your internal drive and type the file name in and it begins narrowing it down. Now for some reason it will not do that, and every time I need to find a song on the drive out of thousands, I have to go in there manually and hunt it down. Anyone know of how to adjust the search settings on my external drive so I can get it working like it was at first?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Aperture, I've always used Iphoto. I've recently imported a large library of photo's from Iphoto into Aperture. I selected to store the photo's in their current location. Is there any way that Aperture can automatically update the library once I add it to Iphoto or my computer? I'm always adding photo's to my computer. As it is now I have to manually import the selected photo's into an event and then drag it from the event to my library. Is there an easier way then this? is there some option that I'm missing?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI deleted a bunch of MP3 files from my hard disc, but they will not disappear from my iPhone and iPod, even after synchronizing. I think I know why: I deleted the MP3s from my hard disc but not from my iTunes Library. I don't want all the hassle of figuring out which songs I deleted and deleting them from my iTunes Library, I just want them to disappear from the iPhone/iPod and free up the space.
I am thinking of deleting ALL the songs on my iPhone/iPod and then syncing it again. Is there an easier way?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 20 inch 2.66 aluminum iMac that came with a 320GB HDD. Lately the HD seems to grind for a long time when I launch any programs. The whole computer seems to just be waiting on the HD to catch up. I have 4GB of ram and it never uses all of it but I can hear the drive reading/writing while I wait for apps to load. Most notably safari, cs4, etc. but it does happen on many other programs. I thought that the issue was that it had been going on a year without a reformat, I waited until snow leopard came out and completely wiped the drive and installed 10.6 on it. However the slowness came back and I have since formatted again only to have the same problems. Has anyone else experienced these slow HD's? I have run Drive Genius on it and there is no bad blocks/SMART is verified.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy iMac 20" G5 (PPC, working with Tiger 10.4.11), bought in April 2006, has the following illness:
When I work locally, it functions fine. When I go into Internet, it starts purring and whining.
When I watch a video on YouTube, for example, the purring and whining increases and finally the screen blacks out. With a mouse click, the screen comes back but goes out again immediately.
After shutting down the system and giving it some rest, everything starts working again normally, but only until I go online.
I have tried to use Disk Utility, but the install disk that came with my Mac gets ejected.
