When dragging a file into a folder window which is partially off the bottom of the screen, OS X will slide it up so that the whole thing is in view. I can't tell you how many times I've dragged something into the wrong folder because suddenly there's a different folder underneath my cursor. Is there any way to turn this off? It does not suit my workflow at all.

I am be watching a movie on my iMac, or just do other tasks, and everything would all of a sudden freeze up on me, with the mouse cursor the only thing moving around. The system wont let me do anything, and I have to hold down the power button to shut it off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got a used iMac (running 10.5.8) with the metal keyboard and mouse. I unpacked the box, plugged in the computer, hooked up the keyboard and mouse. The computer screen came up. I can move around a little via the keyboard's arrow keys but the cursor will not move via the mouse. I got it to move a little by swiping my thumb across the back but that is it. I switched my older, working, keyboard and mouse to the newer machine and it didn't work there. I switched the newer metal keyboard and mouse my older iMac and they worked just fine. What could be going on with the new (but used) computer? I have tried every port for the mouse, keyboard as well as every back port but nothing moves the cursor.

On restart the mouse moves but does not click. I thought it was the mouse and bought new one. After 24 hours same issue with the new mouse. Bought a new Apple Mouse yesterday and this morning same issue again. Usually after a wait the clicking becomes available.

I have a new iMac with mouse. Every time I move my mouse quickly left or right (i.e. if I am just moving it out of the way of my keyboard), the action causes the screen to close down so that I have to re-enter my password to get back to the pages I had open. It doesn't close down the computer, but puts it in sleep mode.

I have a 46 gig itunes music folder that I had moved from my PC to a NAS several months ago. I set up itunes to have the music folder on the Macbook that I use day-to-day point to the songs on the NA. The songs link to the respective folder on /Volume/Music/Artist/Album/song The NAS has been having issues staying connected so I just moved all new songs (I had kept at least 44 gigs on the PC as a backup when I did this 6 months ago) from the NAS to the PC. I finally figured out a way to reliably connect to the PC (running Win7) from the Macbook via SMB. The songs are now located on Volume/iTunes Music/Artist/Album/Song My question is - how do I instruct itunes that the songs are now located on the PC rather than the NAS? Should I just 'delete' all files in iTunes and then add the PC's folder? Is there a better way??

When right-clicking on a file or folder I should get the contextual menu option to 'Move to Trash'. Instead, the item is deleted immediately. Where is the setting that could have changed this?

How can I stop the control button from moving the open applications up and exposing the desktop? It is getting very annoying when I want to use the control button for other functions. I tried looking in settings under keyboard, but found nothing.

Initially, the trash container worked as expected: Items would go directly to the trash and stay there until I emptied it.
I don't believe I did anything to cause what it does now but I don't like it: If I move something to to trash, I am prompted to enter my password (which I really don't like) and no items are held in the trash (what I used to call the recycling bin--which I kind of liked having).
As for troubleshooting, I have changed the preference settings under "Finder" and nothing changes.

I have an early 2008, 24-inch iMac. This problem started after I installed an OS X Mavericks update (and has continued). Basically, after the screen is asleep for a while, if you come back and move the mouse / tap the keyboard, the desktop never reappears. The screen stays black but the mouse cursor shows up and you can drag it around. I've seen some similar issues that said they could get the app switcher, but that never happens for me. Just mouse cursor and black screen, no matter how long you try to wait it out or tap buttons. The only solution is a cold restart, although I think in the past I was able to fix by turning off energy saver settings for putting the display to sleep. It doesn't happen every time, I'd say it happens over 50% of the time. The problem actually kicked in with one particular App Store update of Mavericks. I believe it was 10.9.3 if I recall correctly.

Whenever I move the mouse near the top left of a open window, it minimizes. It seemed to only happen recently as well. Any way to turn off this function?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis problem is quite difficult to explain and it was hard to think of any terms that I could use for a search.
If I want the cursor to move a certain distance on the screen, I can either do that by moving the mouse fast or by doing it slowly.
If I do it rather slowly, the way my mouse has to make on the desk is much longer than if I moved it fast.
Example: I want to move the cursor from the left edge of the screen to the right. If I do it in a very quick movement, I only have to move the mouse for, like, 5 centimeters.
However, if I do it in a really slow sweep, the same distance on the screen takes up to more than 50 centimeters with the mouse.
By the way, the trackpad obviously does the same thing, as does the mouse wheel. I want the cursor to move the distances independently from how fast I move the mouse.
My hardware is a brand-new macbook and a USB Logitech optical pilot wheel mouse. I previously used the latter on my PC, where this problem never occurred.
I also tried a different mouse on the mac and the problem was the same.
My macbook pro started acting funny yesterday. The mouse became unresponsive, then started moving by itself, closing windows, and creating new folders on my desktop. It's like someone is remote controlling it. Google tells me this might be a trojan horse? It sounds similar to the problem discussed in this thread [url]...

Ive just got my hands on an Apple Bluetooth Wireless Mouse. It connects to the Bluetooth App that I have (which coincedientialy is running my Apple Wireless Keyboard perfectly) but when it says click ok with the newly connected mouse it does not move, the bottom of the mouse still flashes green.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my i5 MBP, at times, when I move the mouse in the top left corner (next to the Apple Symbol) the machine flips out and goes in to restart. Sometimes I get a message about a unexpected error, sometimes not.
I seem to not be able to recreate the problem at will, nor does there seem to be a correlation between what programme is running at the time.
I did a combo install (10.9.3) but this did not solve the problem. Swopped the mouse (silly but, you never know).?
As the title says - over time it seems the mouse shortcuts stop working (such as mouse 4 or mouse 5) but the keyboard shortcuts continue to work.
Has anyone experienced this? The only fix is restarted... I tried a sudo killall dock but this doesn't fix it.
For a while now I've had a recurring problem that I can't figure out. The buttons on my mouse will suddenly stop working; I can move the cursor around the screen, but the mouse buttons (all of them, plus the scrollball) do nothing.
It's not a problem with the mouse (so it might not belong in this forum), because I've tried other mice and had the same behaviour. I don't know if there's a pattern, but I think I've only had the problem since I've started running the new Football Manager 2011 game.
