IMac (Intel) :: Makes Normal Startup After Had Been Put Into Sleep
Jun 24, 2014
iMac makes normal startup after had been put into sleep..One strange behaviour can be observed with iMac Late 2013.At the end of day the user puts the mac into sleep. On next day pushing the power button is necessary to activate the mac.
The main point is that iMac starts up as it was shut down at the previous day(this is conclusion based on screens shown after mac activation).
User expectation is, that on next day when activating it the mac show screens as it was leaving sleep instead of showing screens typical for normal startup (after hard power down).

Newbie here, It has just come to my attention that my 27" iMac wakes up during the night. It is always put to sleep at night rather than turned off. My parents are staying for the weekend & sleeping in the same room as the imac, & mentioned this morning that screen turned on a couple of times during the night. I looked at the time machine back ups & found it had made 2 during the night.

It happens more frequently when the computer is "thinking" but still chirps somewhat often when it is seemingly idle. Maybe its the processor or HDD?

So my mac was acting up, no sound from iChat and Spaces wouldn't function properly.
So i restart, the Mac pro gets o the normal point of turning off the display before the spin up sound, but instead this ticking sound occurred. This had a repetition at about ever 3 seconds.
So i quickly held the power button and shut down the Mac pro. I powered up the system and all seemed fine.
Has anyone ever ran across this before?

Today I just noticed that my MBP makes a very slight sound once in a while. I'm thinking it's just the hard drive working slightly harder. Is this normal?

I have a first gen MBA 1.6, and recently (like two days ago) every time I close the lid it shuts down. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen more times than it doesn't. Booting it up after, a window tells me a kernel problem has occurred.
Sorry, no real knowledge of the underpinnings of how software works - so if any of you have ever experienced this, or have some tips or diagnoses, I will certainly be thankful for it.

Because it happened to me a few times where the cursor will skip or one time the cursor wont even move or be responsive with my finger. The weird part is that once I exit safari the trackpad seems to work again perfectly. Also not sure if its because I have sweaty hands and my fingers are too wet? But its not something excessively sweaty or nasty just a lil moisture I guess on my finger tips at times.
Update: Never mind, found out the culprit istat pro.

Just got a brand new macbook pro, and eve since I first started it up it has made this weird noise right before the start up audio. i have done some research and i have found out that there are two superdrives that apple puts into their macbooks and that one is louder then the other, but this was back in 2009. should apple have fixed that through out all these years. what should i do?

Specs: Mid-2012 13'' Macbook ProOS X Mavericks 10.9.22.5 GHz Intel Core i54GB of RAM (never changed it from when I bought it)240GB SSD Crucial M500Intel HD Graphics 4000 So whenever I awake my macbook from sleep, it makes the same noise as when I boot it up or restart the machine. Is this something I should be worried about? I thought that SSDs isn't mechanical as a traditional HDD so I reckon the sound must be something else but I cannot pinpoint what it is.

I've usually in all my year with Mac not had my drives sleep. I note now that when my drives awake one of the fans is spinning faster than normal. Just a little nothing crazy and then it slows to normal.
Is this the sound of a problem fan or something on my motherboard or something?
Should I do a PRAM reset? or whatever it's called these days? Running OSX 1.6.8

I have an Intel Imac G5 2.66 gHz 2 core duo running 10.6.3. I am unable to get it shut down or sleep. Choosing either results in the display blacking out, the fans run for about 1 second and then everything come back on as if nothing has happened. I've reset the Pram and Vram, disconnected all USB and Firewire devices, tried it with and without file sharing and Airport operating. A 'hard' shutdown with the power button works fine. I have checked for any firmware updates but mine is fine. This happened once before and clearing out some files from deleted apps cured the problem but it's back now.

Ever since I bought and downloaded OS Lion, whenever I put my mac to sleep or it goes to sleep on its own it occasionally won't wake up from sleep. It has to be manually rebooted. Is anyone familiar with this problem. Apple must know about it by now. I'm not lugging my 27" iMac into the apple store to have them look at it unless it won't reboot. Hoping it doesn't come to that...anyone familiar with this or have ideas on how to fix it? I don't know if it's a 3rd party software issue or just the OS.

My iMac will not come out of sleep mode and if it does it takes a really long time to do so. I've looked at several things in other forums and it seems to be a Maverick issue. However it only started about a month ago and most people have had this issue since the release of Maverick. I also read to use the bluetooth keyboard and mouse instead of a USB one. That also did not fix the problem. So I am at a standstill ...

Brand new iMac running 10.9.3 using a Anker 13 port hub..After wakening from sleep mode (this is usually observed after long periods of inactivity) I am finding that devices connected by USB are inaccessible. Reconnecting them does not correct the problem, only a restart will restore them.

We've got a 17" G5 iMac and a 20" Intel iMac that need to switch places and users. The easiest thing for me, would be to just swap out the internal hard drives. They both have Leopard installed, but I don't know if the different processors get dedicated system software installed, or can I just swap 'em?
