Brand new iMac running 10.9.3 using a Anker 13 port hub..After wakening from sleep mode (this is usually observed after long periods of inactivity) I am finding that devices connected by USB are inaccessible. Reconnecting them does not correct the problem, only a restart will restore them.

just been noticing something weird happening with the battery on my 13" Ultimate Air I got just under a week ago,It seems that when I put it to sleep it still loses battery power? I had it 100% charged last night before going to work, went to work today and turned it on for about 10 mins just to go on Safari over wifi, this seemed to drop the battery to about 97% when I was done, so that's fine.
I put it to sleep again, have just come home from work and I wake it up, it now shows 93% battery? Am I missing something here? I know for a fact the machine definitely went to sleep.
I'm using a Mac Mini (running 10.3.8) connected to an old View Sonic E95 monitor. No problems except that every time I leave the computer for a while it goes to sleep and "forgets" what display it is connected to. When I hit a key or whatever to reawaken it, the display resolution has been re-set to "VGA 800x600" and I have to tell it to "Detect Display" again..
Any clues? I have looked on the forums and Google with no success .

After some of the latest upgrades in OS X Lion when computer goes into sleep mode some connections doesn't work properly. Web Server, SSH, mail server (if any) work fine but it is impossible to remote control the computer via VNC. When trying to connect to the computer once in sleep mode with VNC viewer or similar and after the user and password submmision you get the "The connection closed unexpectedly" error and it's only possible to remotely connect to the computer when manually wake up the machine, making useless the remote control service.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel Imac G5 2.66 gHz 2 core duo running 10.6.3. I am unable to get it shut down or sleep. Choosing either results in the display blacking out, the fans run for about 1 second and then everything come back on as if nothing has happened. I've reset the Pram and Vram, disconnected all USB and Firewire devices, tried it with and without file sharing and Airport operating. A 'hard' shutdown with the power button works fine. I have checked for any firmware updates but mine is fine. This happened once before and clearing out some files from deleted apps cured the problem but it's back now.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since I bought and downloaded OS Lion, whenever I put my mac to sleep or it goes to sleep on its own it occasionally won't wake up from sleep. It has to be manually rebooted. Is anyone familiar with this problem. Apple must know about it by now. I'm not lugging my 27" iMac into the apple store to have them look at it unless it won't reboot. Hoping it doesn't come to that...anyone familiar with this or have ideas on how to fix it? I don't know if it's a 3rd party software issue or just the OS.

My iMac is some 2 years old and have never had this problem before but twice in the last week it has failed to awake from sleep mode and I have had to hold the start button to 'wake' it up. It then goes through the usual procedure that transpires afte 'logging off'

At least 2-3 times daily my brand new Imac drops the connection to my home network- I have tried to reboot my airport extreme- my ipad and iphone and nest thermostat do not have these issues of dropped connections. As soon as I click the pale wireless signal at the top of the imac, it finds my home network and joins again, but it is a drag to have to redo this every time I want to stream music around the house or check my mail. All of my updates are current.

View 2 Replies View RelatediMac makes normal startup after had been put into sleep..One strange behaviour can be observed with iMac Late 2013.At the end of day the user puts the mac into sleep.On next day pushing the power button is necessary to activate the mac.
The main point is that iMac starts up as it was shut down at the previous day(this is conclusion based on screens shown after mac activation).
User expectation is, that on next day when activating it the mac show screens as it was leaving sleep instead of showing screens typical for normal startup (after hard power down).
after 15 minutes, mac goes to sleep. when I go back to it I have white screen and have to manually reboot.

I total freeze. If I power down & reboot everything works. Also when placed in sleep, the monitor takes about 30 seconds to go black. It also wakes on its own for no apparent reason. No new software has been added, only normal updates, running Lion. Time machine backup is done every couple weeks.

2010 iMac running 10.9.4. Lately certain programs are forced to close on a regular basis. This includes Safari, Mail, Crashplan. It usually happens when the computer is sleeping. When I wake up the computer first thing in the morning, I usually have 3 - 4 messages saying that certain programs were forced to restart. This can also sometimes occur when the computer is not sleeping, but when I am using it. Typically it's Safari that is forced to restart.
Recently upgraded RAM and added Crashplan software for data backup.

I have an iMac running 10.6.8, connected to a Microsoft 2003 server (the 2008 server works even worse for the iMac connection). I also frequently lose the server connection and have to re-boot to get it back. Re-booting involves pushing the Power button Off, then On because the menu commands don't work.
I have NO issues with the Internet connection - it remains strong throughout. I'm wondering if upgrading to Lion will increase the stability. To do that, I would also have to upgrade my Adobe CS software from CS4 to CS6, and expensive proposition with no guarantee it will resolve these issues. (Many of the Apple techs I called pointed their fingers at the Microsft server.) Is any of this curable? If so, what is the cure?

Got my iMac back in the end of February and it's been working flawlessly. About a month ago though, my connection started randomly dropping after periods of moderate internet-use. Say maybe, 20-30mins of browsing. It usually starts working fine after I shut the computer off for a while and try again. I thought maybe it was the ethernet cable, so I got another one, but with the same result. So it got me thinking, maybe it is my ISP. Called Verizon up and they said everything looked good on their end and that my IP was showing up fine. They reset my connection, but with no result. The gentleman on the phone suggested it maybe the computer.
I took my Dell laptop and tried surfing using the built-in Wifi for a while. 2 hours later...working fine. So I tried pluging the ethernet cable to the laptop, worked fine again. So now i'm thinking it HAS to be the computer. So switched the built-in Airport Wifi on the iMac on and tried it out. 2 1/2 hours later...everything works great. WHAT THE HELL!? I'm thinking, since it just suddenly happened, the problem must've been triggered by some sort of update I did(which I don't remember if I did). I searched the Apple Support forums and it turns out, several people have had the same/similar problem with their Macs with no solution.............
I have 3 macs working off my wireless router. Two out of three are still working fine, but the third (an iMac G5) keeps losing its network connection and either won't find the network or, if it does, will not allow me to rejoin it, even after entering the relevant key/password. It has been in the same location in my house and has worked fine for the last five years. But oddly, if I move the G5 to within a few feet of the router it starts working again (though sometimes seems unable to find the network, although when it does it will let me join it, hassle free).
Have spoken to some Apple guys and, following their advice, have gone into SYSTEM PREFERENCES, NETWORK, LOCATION but having got that far a pop-up appears telling me that an application has changed my network settings. Zapping OK, this dialog box just keeps re-appearing and the only way I can get out of this corner is by 'force quit'.
